[Bug 82381] network-admin generates chat script with invalid modem init string
Public bug reported: network-admin creates a chatscript that contains the modem initialization string ATFH0M0 which is invalid. First, it is IMHO not good to initialize the modem back to factory defaults without prompting the user(F). Second, if there is anything after the ATF it needs to include the profile number first. That is, ATF is valid (the modem assumes profile 0) but ATFH0 is incorrect (because 'H' is not a valid parameter for F) Note that the last statement is not necessarily correct for all modems, but I believe it is for many, and it definitely is for mine. Further, all modems which support the AT command set should accept an ATF0 -- that is, 'ATF0H0M0' should be correct in more cases than 'ATFH0M0' ** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- network-admin generates chat script with invalid modem init string https://launchpad.net/bugs/82381 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 920609] [NEW] likewise-open users with migrated home directory won’t decrypt automatically
Public bug reported: I am using likewise-open for authentication against Active Directory. I log in as a domain user to create their home dir, and then run 'ecryptfs-migrate-home -u USER' to encrypt the user’s home directory. This seems to work as expected. However, when I try to log in, the user’s home directory is not automatically decrypted. (and so of course I cannot log in to the GUI). If I log in at the console and run 'ecryptfs-mount-private', it works fine and I can then log in to the display manager. ** Affects: ecryptfs-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920609 Title: likewise-open users with migrated home directory won’t decrypt automatically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/920609/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 832303] [NEW] Option “Display incoming events in the notification area” is unclear
Public bug reported: The meaning of the option “Display incoming events in the notification area” is not clear. At first glance it looks like it would do what it says, which is control whether incoming events (messages) are shown in the notification area. However, what it actually does is “automatically open incoming events” (when off), or “hide incoming events in the notification area instead of opening them in the chat window”. [Bug 831604] Re: likewise-open users don’t get ecryptfs home directory
I think it would need to encrypt the home directory at the same time it creates it. I guess this is what the system adduser script does with its --encrypted-home option. [Bug 314623] Re: likewise-open: allows lockout while disconnected
I tested by disabling the network (unchecking Enable networking on the network manager applet in GNOME). I've also done it by simply unplugging the network cable. I used 'su - $USER', using a gnome-terminal session while logged in to the GNOME desktop. One incorrect, then one correct, allowed me to log in (using cached credentials). Two incorrect, then one correct, allowed me to log in (again, using cached credentials). Three incorrect, then one correct, did not allow me to log in, giving the above error. 'sudo -i' gave similar results, although it prompted multiple times for the password at one invocation rather than simply reporting 'Authentication failure' at the first failed attempt on each invocation. In both cases, a correct password on the fourth or greater attempt will display the error. -- likewise-open: allows lockout while disconnected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 322827] [NEW] libpam-gnome-keyring: keyring password should be updated or cleared when a new system password is used
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libpam-gnome-keyring On a system set up to authenticate to an external service, such as LDAP, Active Directory, or Kerberos: When the password is changed on the external service (e.g. due to a forgotten password+reset or a forced periodic password change where the user happened to log in on a different machine when the change came due), the keyring is not unlockable with the new password. This means that unless the user remembers their old password, and knows how to change the keyring password, the keyring must be wiped, losing all the keys stored in the keyring. This bug is distinct from several other similar bugs, in that it the other bugs relate to the keyring password not being updated properly when the password is changed on the current system. This one concerns only the situation where the password is changed externally. One possible (but very ugly) solution is to simply drop the current keyring/passphrase and start anew when the user successfully logs in using a password that doesn't unlock the keyring. Better would be to somehow change the keyring password so that the keyring can be unlocked with the new password. [Bug 322827] Re: libpam-gnome-keyring: keyring password should be updated or cleared when a new system password is used
This is not the job of the tools used to change the password. [Bug 508834] Re: wizard shown repeatedly when launched from Ubuntu menu
Hmm, I don’t even have a ~/.config/empathy. I’ve upgraded empathy to the Lucid version, and now it never brings up the wizard at all. -- wizard shown repeatedly when launched from Ubuntu menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508834 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 508834] Re: wizard shown repeatedly when launched from Ubuntu menu
This appears to be fixed for me in Lucid. ** Changed in: empathy (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- wizard shown repeatedly when launched from Ubuntu menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508834 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 442436] Re: empathy contact list does not appear in window-picker applet
I’ve upgraded empathy to the Lucid version, and the only change is that in step 4 it doesn’t bring up the wizard. The contact list still doesn’t appear in either window list unless opened through indicator- applet. -- empathy contact list does not appear in window-picker applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442436 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 442436] Re: empathy contact list does not appear in window-picker applet
Note that I am not quitting empathy, but only closing the contact list window, if that helps. -- empathy contact list does not appear in window-picker applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442436 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
