[Bug 389048] [NEW] In full screen volume meter causes flicker

2009-06-18 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Public bug reported:

When you are watching a video and you press volume up/down a box appears in the
top right corner to tell you the new volume level. However if you in full
screen mode this creates a flicker on the screen as it seems to be creating a
new layer for itself or something.
This happens in any application that can go into full screen mode.

There are other boxes that have the same problem. For example when you
move onto the next song in your music player it tells the name of the
song. However the same flicker appears.

I have attached a screen shot of the volume box so that you can identify
what i meant.

thx

Andrew

[Bug 504359] [NEW] Splash screen image duplicating

2010-01-07 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

  Candidate: 0.5.49
  Version table:
 *** 0.5.49 0

When booting the normal ubuntu image in the centre of the screen appears
(This is what should happen). However 9/10 times another image appear on
then right horizontal to the centre image. The image on the right
however is sometimes cut off at the bottom or top and is sometimes not
fully 'illuminated'.

It seems like the cache of the graphics card isn't been wiped and it
displaying the image sin the cache over on the right.

I can only see this on my larger screen (1920*1080) and not on my
smaller one (1280*1024). So only some people my be able to see this
error.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 525383] [NEW] Mute button doesn't appear to work

2010-02-21 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ardour

Ardour 2.8.2 (built from revision 5396)
Ubuntu 9.10

What happens:
When playing if you press the mute button on any of the tracks it doesn't
actually mute the track. Although the mixer levels (when set to post) go to
nothing, meaning that nothing should be output. However the track is still
playing and is still sent to the master output.

What should happen:
As above but the track should be muted and not sent to the main output.

[Bug 525383] Re: Mute button doesn't appear to work

2010-02-23 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Ok it does work. (But i had to right-hand click on the Mute button and tick
'main outs'). Wouldn't it be more intuitive if either:
-Main outs was set to be the selected option as default, so users wouldn't
become frustrated because it doesn't seem to work.
-Or If no options are ticked then when you click the mute button it asks which
one would you like to tick.

[Bug 332355] Re: Empathy doesn't alert to new email messages

2009-11-09 Thread Andrew Hayzen
This would tip the boat to Empathy over Pidgin. As Empathy is the
default it would be nice for it to notify you then have a like to the
web mail ( like Pidgin ). Otherwise everyone will go back to Pidgin
because of this extra functionality. So this is a deciding factor for me
and many other people over which client they will use.

[Bug 1904640] Re: [SRU] [groovy] New upstream microrelease flatpak 1.8.3

2020-11-24 Thread Andrew Hayzen
** Summary changed:

- Placeholder for 1.8.3 update
+ [SRU] [groovy] New upstream microrelease flatpak 1.8.3

** Description changed:

+ This is a request to SRU the latest release of flatpak into groovy.
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ New upstream release of flatpak, which brings fixes and improvements.
+
+ Groovy is currently at 1.8.2, whereas 1.8.3 is available upstream.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ The bugs being resolved are not simple to reproduce, see the test plan
+ below for testing flatpak itself.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ Flatpak has a test suite, which is run on build across all architectures
+ and passes.
+
+ There is also a manual test plan
+ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/flatpak. I have
+ confirmed that 1.8.3 passes with this test plan on groovy.
+
+ Flatpak has autopkgtests enabled
+ http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/f/flatpak which is passing on
+ groovy.
+
+ Regression potential is low, and upstream is very responsive to any
+ issues raised.

[Bug 1812456] Re: [MIR] libflatpak0

2021-06-19 Thread Andrew Hayzen
tl;dr; Flatpak currently considers remotes as trusted, so after you have
added one with a password at system level, you don't need a password to
install apps for that remote.

I don't about how polkit rules work, but this is just a comment
describing what happens from a user perspective with flatpak. If you
want to tighten it, I suggest discussing with upstream to ensure docs or
any other assumptions etc are correct (please also ensure any changes
make it into Debian, generally we have been able to avoid diffs with
Debian so far - we do have a diff right now as Debian is in freeze).

- Flatpak has two locations that you can add remotes and install apps to, user
level and system level. System level ones are available to all users, user
level ones are available to just that user
- Adding a flatpak remote or installing an app at *user* level does not require
any password

So far I think this all makes sense, the interesting part up for debate
is the next part.

- When a remote is added to flatpak at *system* level, it asks for a password
to verify the remote
- When an app is installed at *system* level for this trusted remote, it
installs without needing a password (as stated in previous comments, assuming
the user is in the wheel group)

To try this out you can do the following commands, the remote-add and
remote-delete will need a password, the install and uninstall won't.

$ flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists kdeapps --from
https://distribute.kde.org/kdeapps.flatpakrepo
$ flatpak install kdeapps org.kde.kate
$ flatpak uninstall org.kde.kate
$ flatpak remote-delete kdeapps

[Bug 1903706] Re: Add flathub repository by default

2020-11-10 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The Ubuntu package of flatpak is synced from Debian, so any decision
about whether to enable the flathub repository by default should be made
there - as I do not want to create a delta between Ubuntu and Debian.
Please report a bug against Debian if you think this should be the case,
then once it is resolved the package will be synced in the latest Ubuntu
development version.

Furthermore the approach that Neon has used, by using a service, to
enable flathub by default looks non-optimal, I think the preferred
approach would be to use something like a drop in configuration file (
as described under custom installations here
https://blogs.gnome.org/mclasen/2018/08/26/about-flatpak-installations/
) - I am not sure if this only supports local repositories or could
support flathub too though so it might need work.

Until there is movement with Debian, I am going to mark this bug as
"opinion".

[Bug 1904640] Re: [SRU] [groovy] New upstream microrelease flatpak 1.8.3

2020-12-04 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Sorry, a binary sync was performed by mistake this should have been a
source only sync.

Flatpak 1.8.3 provides what upstream has decided are important fixes for
users on the 1.8.x stable series, as you can see below some of the
improvements fix crashes, error reporting, authentication, and user
experience etc.

Upstream state the changes are as follows:

Fixed progress reporting for OCI and extra-data
The in-memory summary cache is more efficient
Fixed authentication getting stuck in a loop in some cases
Fixed authentication error reporting
We now extract OCI info for runtimes as well as apps
Fixed crash if anonymous authentication fails and -y is specified
flatpak info now only looks at the specified installation
if one is specified
Better error reporting for server HTTP errors during download
Uninstall now removes applications before the runtime it depends on
Fixed test-suite to pass with the latest OSTree version
Fixed dbus environment variables in flatpak enter
Avoid updating metadata from the remote when uninstalling
Fixed error message handling in various places
FlatpakTransaction now verifies all passed in refs to avoid
potential issues with invalid names
Updated translations

As with previous accepted flatpak changes, these should not break
ABI/API, tests are run during package build, autopkgtests are passing,
and a manual test plan is executed.

Let me know if I need to provide more information.

[Bug 1756098] Re: Potential cache upgrade issue in 3.28 results in unable to install flatpakref due to remote already existing

2018-04-02 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Sure, when I get a moment I'll firstly try to reproduce the issue with
bionic by installing 3.27.92 and upgrading to 3.28 again. Then if I can
confirm that the issue really does happen, I'll try an upgrade from
artful (3.26.1). (I hope this was only an issue within the development
branch and therefore not affect "real" users, but we'll see).

[Bug 1756098] Re: Potential cache upgrade issue in 3.28 results in unable to install flatpakref due to remote already existing

2018-04-04 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I've not yet been able to reproduce this yet, but while investigating
I've found that the cache folder for gnome-software (and therefore the
gnome software flatpak plugin) has changed from 17.10 to 18.04 - so it
might not be an issue for "real" users upgrading from 17.10?

Eg the flatpak plugin cache folder has changed in the following ways for me:
17.10 ~/.cache/gnome-software/3.26/flatpak
18.04 ~/.cache/gnome-software/flatpak

Although this does raise, why is the cache folder not ~/.cache/gnome-
software/3.28 ? What will happen with 3.30 ?

[Bug 1778782] Re: New upstream microrelease ostree 2018.6

2018-06-28 Thread Andrew Hayzen
** Description changed:

- Placeholder for SRU of new upstream micro-release.
+ This is a request to SRU the latest microrelease of ostree into bionic.
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ New upstream micro release of ostree, which brings fixes and
+ improvements to the stable series.
+
+ Bionic is currently at 2018.4-2, whereas 2018.6 is available upstream.
+
+ Note this is a requirement for enabling the stable release of flatpak
+ 1.0.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ The bugs being resolved are not simple to reproduce, see the test plan
+ below for testing of ostree.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ OSTree has a test suite, which is run on build across all architectures
+ and passes.
+
+ I am using the flatpak manual test plan, as this is the main "user" of
+ libostree https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/flatpak. I
+ have confirmed that 2018.6 passes with this test plan. I have also done
+ exploratory testing of the ostree CLI.
+
+ OSTree has autopkgtests enabled
+ http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/o/ostree which is passing on
+ bionic (except for armhf).
+
+ Regression potential is low, and upstream is responsive to any issues
+ raised.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ There are changes to the build-depends (adding of libavahi) and
+ configure flags, these are due to the addition of p2p support - which is
+ a requirement of flatpak 1.0.
+
+ The risk is low as the only "users" (rdepends of libostree-1-1 and
+ ostree) are flatpak and debos.

[Bug 1778782] Re: [SRU] New upstream microrelease ostree 2018.6

2018-07-04 Thread Andrew Hayzen
@Robie, thanks for looking at this.

So Flatpak 1.0 is currently under pre-release/release candidate, and
should hopefully be released in the next few weeks (at some point after
GUADEC). As you have pointed out it might be a good idea to submit them
together - so that they can be tested together. I am happy to wait
until flatpak 1.0 is ready and submit them both to -proposed at the same
time if this is your preferred route.

Please advise if there is anything I need to do while we wait ? Can we
just simply leave ostree in the queue ? (I suspect it'll only be a few
weeks until flatpak 1.0 is ready).

Also I have a personal PPA with the pre-release of flatpak 1.0 and
ostree 2018.6 which I have been testing with :-)

There is no particular reason for doing it either way, I was just
submitting this in preparation of the future release - so if it makes
testing/verification easier and reduces risk, lets do them together.

[Bug 1804954] Re: Themes work in Xorg but not Wayland sessions

2018-11-29 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This seems strange, I have had other themes work on both X11 and Wayland
- it could be an app specific issue, a theme issue, a runtime issue, a
session issue etc. The fact you state Qt5 apps are working correctly
suggests it might be an app/runtime issue.

Can you post the output of the following command, so that we can see which
theme extensions are installed ?
$ flatpak list

Could you post the output of the following command in both of the sessions to
see which theme it thinks is in use?
$ gtk-query-settings |grep -i gtk-theme

Can you try installing org.gnome.Recipes and try that with both sessions
to ensure it isn't an app specific issue.

Until the info above is provided I will mark this bug as incomplete.

Could you also try running gtk-query-settings from inside the sandbox when on

2018-12-01 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Maybe, although it still seems a bit strange - i do wonder if snap and
flatpak maybe conflicting somehow. For the communitheme-wayland session
did you install that via a snap or PPA ?

Also could you post the full output of the following commands (to
pastebin if you prefer) to ensure that we are using the same versions of
the app as me and the permissions are correct. Eg are you using the
version from flathub or gnome-apps-nightly etc.

$ flatpak list --show-details
$ flatpak remotes --show-details
$ flatpak info org.gnome.Recipes
$ flatpak info --show-permissions org.gnome.Recipes

So you are definitely on the same version as me. I just tried with a
virtual machine and was able to reproduce this after installing the
communitheme snap session (and using the wayland variant). I will mark
this as confirmed for now and discuss this issue with flatpak
developers.

[Bug 1804167] Re: The problem after the transition to the test branch

2018-12-01 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

So this seems like network manager failed to start correctly (?) and
then some service trying to configure a flatpak repo became stuck. I
have spoken to the flatpak developers and they are not aware of such a
service (maybe it is something specific to KDE?). Also you have
switched to an unstable branch, so maybe something is broken within
that.

Could you provide more information from syslog/journalctl ? Eg what
caused network manager to fail (systemctl status NetworkManager-wait-
online.service) and also look in syslog/journalctl for errors around the
same time related to flatpak and copy them here ?

Until there is more info as to what is happening I'll mark this as
incomplete.

[Bug 1804954] Re: Themes work in Xorg but not Wayland sessions - when using Communitheme snap sessions

2018-12-01 Thread Andrew Hayzen
OK after much discussion with flatpak developers and testing things in
VMs, we have found the reason this happens on wayland only !

Quote from TingPing, "dconf supports distros installing override files
into the system, then when queried dconf will look at user setting, then
fallback to distro setting, then fallback to default setting. In a
sandbox we can ask dconf for the user setting but we don't have disk
access to the override files".

So what this means is that on wayland the flatpak can't read the default
overrides from the session (eg Ubuntu choosing Ambiance and Minimise,
Maximise, Close) as it doesn't have permission to read the system files
only user ones. (this doesn't affect X11 sessions as gtk reads from
xsettings instead).

This will be solved when the settings portal [0] is used in xdg-desktop-
portal, as that runs on the host outside of the sandbox it is able to
read the necessary files.

For now the workaround is to install gnome-tweaks, change your theme to
something else and then back to Ambiance. Also for the window controls change
one of them from true to false to true. This will then write user settings to
dconf which the flatpak's can then read.

As this will be solved in the next version of xdg-deskop-portal, I will close
this bug for the flatpak package and open against xdg-desktop-portal.

[Bug 1778782] Re: [SRU] New upstream microrelease ostree 2018.6

2018-09-06 Thread Andrew Hayzen
The 2018.6 release in Debian included new rust bindings, these were then
removed in the next release - which has resulted in a smaller debdiff
than before. I have also disabled avahi so there isn't a new build-

I'm going to provisionally update the bug description to match the
changes which will likely be submitted in a future upload.

5) Restart gnome-software 3.30
6) Notice there is still no "update preferences"

What I expected to happen:
I expected "update preferences" to be shown as a menu in gnome-software.
However I understand that only packagekit + snap are installed by default -
which both don't currently have support for this toggle (maybe snap will in the
future?)

So I would expect that the "update preferences" menu is shown after
installing the flatpak plugin at step 6.

I have submitted a merge request here [0] which shows this menu when the
flatpak plugin is enabled.

I think this is important for this option to be available when the user has
installed the flatpak plugin, as it was a feature listed in the GNOME 3.30
release notes and announced across many news publications - having this option
not visible in Ubuntu will only result in bad press.

[Bug 1791553] Re: Update preferences is not shown when flatpak plugin is installed

2018-09-10 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I have added (LP: 1791553) to the commit message (as seen in a previous
commit).

Yes, I agree it could be a good idea to mention that this is currently
flatpak only. What would you suggest? Rename "Update Preferences" to
"Flatpak Update Preferences" or mention in the dialog itself somewhere ?
Maybe Robert has a better idea.

To keep this bug in the loop, the merge request

different code so the patch couldn't be applied. I will create another

[Bug 1787917] Re: New upstream release flatpak 1.0

2018-09-11 Thread Andrew Hayzen
** Description changed:

- This is a placeholder for a new upstream release of flatpak.
- =
-
-
This is a request to SRU the latest release of flatpak into bionic.
-

  [Impact]

New upstream release of flatpak, which brings fixes and improvements.

Bionic is currently at 0.11.7, whereas 1.0.1 is available upstream.

1.0.X is a LTS version of the 0.11.X series, so it will be supported for
a longer period of time and will have fixes backported from future
  series.

-
  [Test Case]

The bugs being resolved are not simple to reproduce, see the test plan
  below for testing flatpak itself.
-

  [Regression Potential]

Flatpak has a test suite, which is run on build across all architectures
  and passes.

There is also a manual test plan
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/flatpak. I have
confirmed that 1.0.1 passes with this test plan.

  Flatpak has autopkgtests enabled
  http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/f/flatpak which is passing on
  bionic.

Regression potential is low, and upstream is very responsive to any
  issues raised.

-
  [Other info]

Flatpak requires an updated ostree (at least 2018.7), which is being
  submitted in bug 1778782

I know that this debdiff is very large, please consider that a large
amount is translations, documentation, code which was restructured
internally and that this includes more than one upstream release. I'm
also happy to do any extra QA that is required.

To assist in your review I have collated the following stats:
  debdiff +57629 -28689 86318 100.0%
  translations+17595 -10386 2798132.4%
  docs+ 4833 - 824 5657 6.6%
  code+35201 -17479 5268061.0%
It's difficult to calculate the noise due to the code restructure, but it
could be a large amount of the "code" removals.

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak related refs are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu 18.04

2018-10-16 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I believe this issue is resolved in cosmic and is only an issue in
bionic. Normally such issues are marked as "Fix Released" for "ubuntu"
and then proposed to the series bionic. I don't have the permissions to
do this, Robert do you normally work with this workflow ?

Also I will test the normal flatpak manual test plan (which includes
gnome-software UI tests) against this change once it is in -proposed to
confirm this doesn't regress anything. And I am happy to help with any
parts of the SRU process :-)

@Robert, will you be generating a debdiff for the gnome-3-28 branch when
it's ready? (I see you are making other changes and I'm not familiar how
you are taking the git repo and turning the changes into debian
patches).

Also I see that 3.28.1-0ubuntu4.18.04.4 [0] is currently stuck [1] in
bionic-proposed as bug 1756379 has not been verified. I guess that this
should be done before pushing the next release through :-)

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak related refs are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu 18.04

2018-10-29 Thread Andrew Hayzen
The good news is that this now correctly installs themes when installing
an app.

Unfortunately for me test "2.4 Update an app in GNOME Software" from the
flatpak test plan [0], fails for me with the package from proposed.

After reverting to an older commit hash, then refreshing gnome-software
it shows the update. But when I click "Update" the UI shows progress,
hides the item and then it reappears again. Furthermore using the CLI
you can see that the package hasn't been updated. So this change appears
to be breaking an update.

When running from the console I get "01:38:32:0760 Gs tried overwriting
org.gnome.Recipes.desktop key flatpak::Commit from
6d5f7c35ff1f3fd449b2789324843a89140257bb3cdca468f83a65162b177fa0 to
1ac37481845c65857a64e8c0680bae137b0b56faaf6f11f3f0d415a3205bc1c2" and
if i run in verbose mode I get this
https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/r8pWhpmcG7/

Note flipping back to 3.28.1-0ubuntu4.18.04.4 it works again.

Therefore I am going to have to mark this as verification-failed-bionic
for now.

Autopkgtest's for flatpak itself are passing. Therefore I am marking
this as verification-done-bionic.

The autopkgtest's for flatpak-builder are failing against this flatpak
version due to the issues described in bug 1794875, once the SRU in that
bug is approved this should resolve the autopkgtest failures.

Please correct me if I should not be setting verification as done here,

[Bug 1801814] Re: Environment overwrites XDG_DATA_DIRS

2018-11-05 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The .config/environment.d docs [0] and some info around gdm/env.d [1] don't
seem to be too clear which order they would be loaded. But I would expect that
the system gdm is loaded first then the local user one. So it seems strange
that your local environment.d doesn't override.

The flatpak.env file is located here [2] upstream, I would report a bug
upstream [3] as they may have more ideas as to how to resolve this
issue. Also providing your local configuration file in
.config/environment.d may be useful.

Testing this myself, if i run
"/usr/lib/systemd/user-environment-generators/30-systemd-environment-d-generator"
it shows the correct override of XDG_DATA_DIRS, but "systemctl --user
show-environment" doesn't show XDG_DATA_DIRS being overridden - however it does
show additional env vars.

So it could be something odd happening in systemd ? I'm unsure if this
is specifically a flatpak bug yet, lets see what upstream and others
say.

[Bug 1801814] Re: Environment overwrites XDG_DATA_DIRS

2018-11-05 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I also wonder if /etc/profile.d/ are having an affect, as in there I
have flatpak.sh and xdg_dirs_desktop_session.sh. [4] mentions how the
order of loading these was incorrect at one point in time for Debian and
GNOME systems (but this was for PATH which is more of a special case).
Also I'm not super familiar with the sequence of how these are loaded,
so might be wrong :-)

[Bug 1793473] Re: Even on KDE flatpak wants to install xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

2018-09-20 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This doesn't seem correct to me either, from my understanding of
xdg-desktop-portal. It looks like xdg-desktop-portal-kde potentially should
have the following (which xdg-desktop-portal-gtk already has).
Provides:
 xdg-desktop-portal-backend,

Therefore I am going to subscribe xdg-desktop-portal-kde to this bug.

As Ubuntu imports these packages from Debian I would like it to be fixed
there first, I will contact the maintainers of the package and ask for
their advice.

[Bug 1793473] Re: Even on KDE flatpak wants to install xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

2018-09-22 Thread Andrew Hayzen
@hjd, Thanks for pointing this out, I hadn't spotted this.

Upstream have added the change here [0], I'll take a look at making an
SRU for this change when I get a moment (if no one else wants to). And
if there is a release of xdg-desktop-portal-kde soon (before the cosmic
release) with the change, I'll request a sync to cosmic (again if no one
else does).

To add further detail the original problem, with this change it would allow one
to easily select xdg-desktop-portal-kde without -gtk being installed. But as
more interfaces are being added to xdg-desktop-portal, any that are missing
from the -kde portal will fallback to using the -gtk one (if the -gtk one is
installed) - as it is effectively the reference implementation. So while
xdg-desktop-portal is still being developed at a "fast" pace it might be
advisable to keep -gtk installed until both implementations have all the
interfaces.

Note that this has been fixed upstream in [0], when the next xdg-

Ubuntu this should be fixed.

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak runtime extensions are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu

2018-09-23 Thread Andrew Hayzen
@Asciiwolf, Personally I would prefer such a large change (229 additions
and 37 deletions across 28 files) to be approved by upstream -
especially as this is going into a LTS release. As it is not always
clear what other behaviour this may change or break.

I understand that this is the patch that Endless are using in their
distro, but I would need to understand how the flatpak plugin works
before I would be able to make a decision.

Ultimately to get this change into Ubuntu it would need to be approved
by Robert Ancell, so maybe Robert is the one who can advise if we should
require upstream approval or if it is OK to distro patch. As this is
quite an important fix for trying to use flatpak with a GUI in bionic.

I am happy to help with the SRU process and submitting the patches to
the Ubuntu gnome-software git etc, I just feel I don't have enough
knowledge of gnome-software's code to state if this is an OK change to
carry.

(... or maybe we just need to wait until gnome-software is a
flatpak/snap/appimage ;-) then we can magically get 3.30 :-) )

[Bug 1767217] Re: New upstream microrelease flatpak-builder 0.10.10

2018-09-27 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I'm going to close this placeholder bug, as there even newer releases.
Also because the deb is less important now, as flatpak-builder itself is
also a flatpak now - like how snapcraft is a snap. Maybe later I'll open
a new bug to update to 1.0.X.

[Bug 1787917] Re: New upstream release flatpak 1.0

2018-09-27 Thread Andrew Hayzen
flatpak-builder is failing autopkgtest's with flatpak 1.0, I believe
this is because some of the tests are using the CLI interface which now
has some additional questions. I'll create a debdiff for flatpak-builder
with the patches from upstream which fix the tests so that they work
with flatpak 1.0 and link the bug that I report here.

[Bug 1794875] [NEW] [SRU] Autopkgtests fail with flatpak 1.0.X, due to missing -y in test scripts

2018-09-27 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Public bug reported:

New versions of flatpak have extra prompts in the CLI when performing
certain actions. Flatpak-builder has some tests which call directly to
the flatpak CLI, with new flatpak versions these tests fail - as shown
here [0].

Upstream these tests have been fixed with these commits [1] [2] which
simply adds "-y" to the relevant parts of the test scripts.

[Impact]

This bug does not affect users, it is about fixing autopkgtest failures
of flatpak-builder 0.10.9-1 being run against flatpak 1.0.1-0ubuntu0.1
(for the SRU bug 1787917).

Without this fix autopkgtests will fail, blocking the flatpak update.

[Test Case]

The test case is that before the autopkgtests would fail against flatpak
1.0.1-0ubuntu0.1, as seen here [0], but with this change these
autopkgtests should pass.

[Regression Potential]

Regression potential is low, as this change is simply adjusting the test
scripts using upstream changes.

I have tested that "$ gnome-desktop-testing-running flatpak-builder",
fails before and passes after this change.

[Other Info]

This should be submitted with bug 1787917 and is to fix the autopkgtest
tests that change.

[Bug 1862158] Re: gnome-software tries to install snap updates in the background, causing unprompted polkit authentication for authorisation to install packages

2020-02-06 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I believe this issue is because we now show pending snap updates in
gnome-software (useful when one has manually set the refresh timer),
which causes them to be categorised as "updatable live". gnome-software
then has an update monitor that automatically tries to apply any
updatable live apps (which causes the polkit dialogs and updates
complete notifications) - but we don't want this as snapd does this.

I have an untested patch here https://gitlab.gnome.org/ahayzen/gnome-
software/commit/0597be6f317a38aa64ac86280d7b05a1aa242a70 which I believe
should disable snap app updates from the update monitor.

If it looks good let me know and I can proposed it against gnome-
software master :-)

2020-04-03 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Note that syncing flatpak 1.6.3-1 should solve the autopkgtests for
ostree that is currently stuck in focal-proposed (ostree 2020.3-1 is
failing with flatpak 1.6.2-1). So this would help ostree migrate :-)

[Bug 1764680] Re: Can't install flatpaks on systems with brtfs/xfs

2018-04-26 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I tried using an Ubuntu 18.04 daily image with XFS and was able to
successfully install org.gnome.Recipes with --system.

Looking at the ostree package, it looks like 2018.4-2 was synced from
Debian into bionic on 2018-04-18 [0].

Therefore I am going to mark this bug as fix released.
