[Bug 900542] Re: virtuoso 6.1.4 with many(!) bugfixes - please upgrade

2011-12-10 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I attached a bug watch to a bug in Debian also requesting a newer
version of virtuoso. Normally Ubuntu will sync packages from Debian once
in a while so that new packages become available. However, in this case,
virtuoso has some ubuntu-specific changes (patches) which means someone
will have to manually merge this package. (See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Merging for more information
on merging)

2012-01-22 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 919986 ***

Hi, I was checking whether this problem was still reproducible on Ubuntu
Precise, which is the latest development version. Turns out it is, so I
ended up filing a new bug which includes a stacktrace and various other
information which is useful for developers. Therefore I'm marking this a
duplicate of 919986. Feel free to report any other bugs you come across

2012-01-22 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
It looks like this option is only available if tasksel is installed. See

Since synaptic does not currently suggest or recommend tasksel, this
needs to be installed separately, which might not be obvious.

[Bug 586238] Re: not available in Lucid

2012-01-23 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Confirmed. This package does indeed not seem to be available in Ubuntu
10.04, even though it is listed on the launchpad page
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/orpie. Just to rule out mirrors
being out of sync or missing packages, I switched to the main Ubuntu
server, but apt-get was still unable to find it.

It is present (and installable) on at least Ubuntu 10.10 and I assume
later, though I only tested maverick.

[Bug 848607] Re: unable to complete installation of audacity or amarok due to inability to type password when prompted in terminal

2011-12-28 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
The password was not entered in at all due to the keyboard keys not
working when prompted to type password. This happened on all
installations requiring password confirmation in Ubuntu 11.04

Then I'm not sure, because this should work, could you please clearify:
1. Does this happen with all installations (including software
center/synaptic/etc), or only installations through the terminal?
2. When typing your password in the terminal it will not show any stars or
dots, however it should be registered. So just typing the password and pressing
enter as usual should work. Could you please double-check whether this works or
not?

2012-01-01 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Note that this does not seem to trigger a crash anymore (at least on
Ubuntu 11.10 and later). However, nothing happens when clicking on New
separator and the same error message as in the attached TraceBack is
still printed.

[Bug 848607] Re: unable to complete installation of audacity or amarok due to inability to type password when prompted in terminal

2012-01-05 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
It would also be possible to add this PPA through Software Sources in
the Software Center. Open Software Sources and add the PPA (ppa:kubuntu-
ppa/backports) to Other Software. Once this has been added you should be
able to install or upgrade the packages offered by the PPA as normal.

See also http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/how-to-add-a-ppa-to-software-
sources-in-ubuntu/ which explains the process in detail, with
screenshots. Hope this helps.

Since these are two different issues and giver won't work properly until

is already discussed in bug 772076, since it was present on Ubuntu 11.04
as well.
