[Testing] Changing hostname with Control Center

2013-09-29 Thread Anton Sudak
Hello All,
I noticed that fields with hostname in GNOME Control Center are
inactive. Searching why they are inactive brought me to the Debian
bugtracker where I found that it is because policitykit deny Control
Center to change hostname. The rule that allowing to change hostname is
already present in Debian package. Maybe, it is necessary to copy it
into Ubuntu package.

Debian bugreport http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=693071

This problem affects GNOME 3.8, 3.10 in Saucy and 3.8 in Raring.

N.B. Keyboard is non functional at this point

Any suggestions?

Have you tried to burn your ISO image in another support?
It is not normal that it takes 1 hour to read all the required
information to boot.

Hi,
With UG 13.10, the physical switch on/off button is not detected by
Gnome anymore. This worked flawlessly on UG 13.04. This regressions
doesn't come from the Ubuntu baseline but from the Gnome interface.

Because, if I open a console with Ctrl+F2, log in, then press the
switch off button, then the PC shuts down. This is Gnome which doesn't
detect this button anymore.

I would like to know what's the best package to raise a bug on?

Thanks.

Just test this:

- Open gnome-tweak-tool
- Go to the 'Shell' section
- Check in the 'Power button action' what you have selected. (Default
should be 'Interactive')

It looks like the media is broken or you have a broken ISO download.
Have you compared the MD5 checksum?

Run md5sum iso in a terminal to get it.

No more multimedias keys on Dell XPS13

2013-09-29 Thread Romuald TISSERAND
Hi,
I'm sure this was operating on the Beta 1 + Gnome 3.8. I can't say if it
comes from Gnome 3.10 or just from recent updates, but on my Dell XPS13,
the multimedias almost don't work anymore.

- Sound keys don't work at all
- Almost because keyboard and screen backlight work, but...read below
- The screen backlight slider in 3.10 system menu doesn't work
- There is no widget displayed when I activate some of these keys

Hi,

Does anyone have successfully tested the latest GNOME 3.10 in Ubuntu
Saucy with the closed-source AMD drivers.

Hi,

Too bad, I have more than one machine but none with AMD Hardware!

I'm testing with those available in Ubuntu repositories. But when I
reboot my computer, GDM halts (showing a blank screen) and doesn't
show anything.

Regards

Just curious, what about Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 Beta 2 on that machine? any
specific issue?

Thank you!

Hi there,

I finally managed to install the fglrx driver and now it's working
perfectly.

One less problem with this version...
