Get Ready for VV (15.04) Brainstorming Sessions

2014-11-25 Thread Ali/amjjawad
Dear all,

I know this is late and maybe you've been waiting for it for sometime now
... but better late than never :P

Soon, we shall start the brainstorming session for the VV (15.04) cycle :D

Three main reasons why this is not yet done:

   1. Real Life
   2. I wanted to do some highly important tasks before that, mainly
recruiting to one of the most needed area within Ubuntu GNOME that is
Marketing and Communication and the great news is, in one day, we got 3
people recruited for that area and even better, 2 of them have agreed to
step in to take a leading role on that area :D
   3. I wanted to do something different this cycle. I didn't want to write
some blueprints and share them, I wanted something else. Let's see :)

This is a 'Get Ready' email ;)

Further information will be discussed soon, hopefully.

Prepare your thoughts and ideas and ... get ready :D

Thank you!

P.S.

Please don't create any blueprint just yet. Further details will be
discussed later!

Re: [Ubuntugnome-comms] [Idea] Introducing a new volunteer to Ubuntu GNOME

Thanks ;)

My apologies for asking for a web designer, but we need the website done
and we also needed someone with a very specific set of skills.

One of the most interesting things that is happening to me with Ubuntu
GNOME is how amazingly people here can read my mind and cope up quickly
with what I want to say/do. It saves a lot of my time and it is a great fun
:D

While I didn't mention that directly, you got the point :D
I wasn't happy with just one post on Google+ as this is supposed to be on
the website + all the other channels but it is okay as long as someone has
actually taken the initiative and was proactive!

PS. Once we exactly know if we will have Niels or Niels + Justin, I'll
make the proper announcement of the website dev team (I'll also ask them to
introduce themselves; I believe Niels has already intoduced himself like a
 eon ago, hehehe).

Perhaps we need to give you an access to the website ;)
I've been the only one who is posting and publishing for 3 cycles or maybe
more, I can't remember :P

Thank you, brother, for all your hard work.

In fact, thank you all for making my experience with Ubuntu GNOME the best
ever to the point I want to give more and more :D

 Hi everyone,

I just got a nice small idea that I'd like to share with you :)

Once a new volunteer step in and join our community, after going through
 the steps mentioned here:
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved

and after he/she introduces him/her self to the mailing list and our
community, we publish his/her name on our social media to feel them welcome
and to encourage others to join too :)

IMHO, it is much better than keep asking people to join ;)

Thought to share this idea and start doing it ...

 Thank you!

New guy, hailing from Slovakia

2014-11-25 Thread Patrik Bubák

Having lurked in the shadows enough it's time I say something about myself,

I'm Patrik, 31 years old, speak 5 languages, plan to work with design
and learn more languages (computer languages included).

Currently I'm based in Denmark due to my studies in Design, Technology
and Business (Graphics), but I was born and raised in Slovakia. After I
finish my studies I plan to move again because life in Denmark is
exactly the opposite of what most hear - it's far from good for a foreigner.

I began using Linux about 4 years ago and was stuck with Ubuntu mostly
(tried derivatives, then a bit of Debian, last was Manjaro before I got
back to Ubuntu).

I engage in volunteer projects whenever I can to give back to the
community, one translated page at a time. I could help out with graphics
also, since I aim to put that as my main focus and main source of income.

Aside from translating the Ubuntu GNOME Wiki I engage in Mozilla Firefox
support article translation for Slovak users and localize SmartLauncher
2 by the Italian developer Vincenzo Colucci aka. GinLemon. (more in my
signature) I also took part on the COMODO Internet Security product
localization several years ago which I quit due to personal reasons and
the project is discontinued from what I last heard.

My main distro is Xubuntu since I cannot really use GNOME on my machine
due to heightened resource usage.

Official Introduction

2014-11-25 Thread Keith I Myers
Good Morning All,
I have been lurking/responding to messages in the mailing list for a few
moths and just realized that I have never made an official introduction
post.

My name is Keith I Myers, I reside in South Florida and have been a Ubuntu
user since Jaunty (9.04). I have been using Ubuntu Gnome for a few years
and feel that it is one of the most polished distributions out there. Aside
from Ubuntu, I am a huge Android Fanatic and one of the first Google Glass
owners.

I currently work as a senior software engineer as my full time job where I
work with Ubuntu all day long. I also have worked in several industries
including the Web Hosting Industry.

After several years of using Ubuntu Gnome, I feel it is about time to give
back to the community. I have already started helping out with Q/A Testing
and have expressed interest in working with the Marketing Team.

If you want to get in contact with me, you can find more on my Wiki Page -
