Apologies for the delay, first week back at work!

You can maybe try our main ppa which has some updates that never made it
into the final release of 14.04 here:
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3


An easy way to add it is: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
Then: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then: Logout or Restart (if a new kernel has been installed)

If the problem still persists, you can try the staging PPA which has
some more updates here:
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3-staging

And repeat the above.

Wow that is weird. Can you try creating a new user account and see if the
issue persists. If it does please can you file a bug against gnome-shell
using 'ubuntu-bug gnome-shell' on the command line.

Oops... I was in windows when I wrote this and for some reason it sent my

well here is the thing, I couldn't get it to do it on the new account but it
took it awhile to show up..

But those weird shapes were from out of the box it was doing that ( from the
install) . 

Wow your from Zuid Afrika eh? Nice!

BLUE BLOTCHES and weird shapes on the screen when arranging things

Hi I have a Dell Optiplex 755 running ubuntu gnome. 

when I move stuff around  or just opening a menu I get these multicolored
boxes all over the screen in blotches and once I move something around on
the screen again I am fine.  To explain it its like it was trying to do the
cube thing right out of the  box. or something. And I switched down to
classic gnome 3 and it still does it at times.

I am using Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 LTS.
