Yes, Fabian is right. >I think what he meant that the batteries get charged using thoses >sources of energy I make windmills and do photovoltaic installations. My home and office runs off solar energy for the past 8 years. Any further of this talk needs to be off this list because it is not pertaining to Ubuntu. Re: [ubuntu-in] Problem with Thunderbird
Hi Ram >For the last year and a half my thunderbird as totally frustrated me - >it downloads messages (from gmail) only intermittently - as a result my >most recent message - is from about August 2007. It is quite possible that the problem is with gmail and not with Thunderbird. If you can try your Thunderbird with some other mail service, that might give you some indications. For example, if you can open an account at aol.in and set it up for pop access (I have details for imap access but not pop access handy) and see if that works well for you. I had corresponded with gmail staff some time ago and found that one can not download mails more than once, and if you try to download mails older than 1 month, then things get messed up. I have had problems similar to yours with other mail clients (Eudora, Evolution ...) with the gmail pop access. Hi Aditya and Ram > > It's going to cost us in other ways soon: http://www.storyofstuff.com/ > >Never thanked you properly for this video > >Made my whole month - just wow Great that this site is being seen by many more. The person behind the site is Annie Leonard, a former Greenpeace campaigner and later who worked with Ralph Nader and a dedicated campaigner to prevent incineration of any kind of waste. I have used almost exclusively old laptops all my life, since 1994. And run almost all of them on solar photovoltaic energy or wind energy, and Toshiba's have proven to be the best amongst HP/Compaq, Dell and Toshiba. Never had an IBM/Lenovo though. No idea about that. Regards Moz -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

I agree that Thunderbird is sometimes too frustrating and even though I have set it to fetch mails in every 3 minutes, it doesnt fetch as and when required. I have two gmail accounts and two accounts of the mail server hosted at my web host. > I send mails from Thunderbird , because it makes for better / easier > referencing when off line. > Thunderbird's User Interface is better than other mail clients available for Linux. I shifted from it to Thunderbird some months back. Evolution has lots of bugs, many of them are unfixed even though I reported it at launchpad. Some of them have been closed, since I was not able to furnish enough of information. > but any other ideas > Yeah! My personal thinking is that there is no *At Par* mail client which matches that with Outlook 2007 of Windows and Entourage of Mac. Now I would love to see a bloated choice of a mail client rather than a mail client tending to be lightweight but crashes now and then and not reliable. P.S.: Am not a Windows and Mac fan! [ubuntu-in] Problem with Thunderbird
Hi Am running Ubuntu 8.04 , with thunderbird 2.0.0.17. For the last year and a half my thunderbird as totally frustrated me - it downloads messages (from gmail) only intermittently - as a result my most recent message - is from about August 2007. I send mails from Thunderbird , because it makes for better / easier referencing when off line. Earlier i thought that the problem was any of the following 1. Slow Internet connection - 2. Uncompacted folders 3. Old version of Thunderbird however have rectified all of these, which includes access to broadband, and am still stuck. So now am thinking what else could be the problem. Could it be any of these 1. The amount of space my thunderbird takes is about 2.2 GB 2. There are multiple email accounts within thunderbird 3. I have my thunderbird data in a folder thats not the default .Mozilla folder (it makes it easier to back up) - i will try and rectify 2 and 3 (and rectifying 2 should improve 1 as well) am thinking of migrating to evolution (even tried that - when on a slow connection and just disliked the evolution interface) but any other ideas thanks ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
