Si tu as
jouer avec les paramètres de connexion, c'est ton fichier
/etc/gdm/gdm.conf que tu as modifié. Il faudrait donc voir si les
paramètres contenus dans celui-ci sont correct. Dans la console, tape:

nano /etc/gdm/gdm.conf

nano est un éditeur de texte. Vérifie les paramètres (le fichier est
auto-commenté) et surtout à peu près au milieu du fichier les paramètres
Include, Exclude et IncludeAll qui doivent avoir les valeurs suivantes:

#Include=
Exclude=nobody
IncludeAll=true

Ubuntu Developer News Issue 1

2009-01-25 Thread James Westby
Welcome to the first edition of Ubuntu Developer News (a.k.a the
Keybuk-repeater). For past items or to submit your own please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/News
More submissions for the developer news would be very much appreciated.

In this issue we have

  * Jaunty Developer Week logs available
  * Colin Watson elected to the Technical Board
  * Package bug reporting guidelines in launchpad
  * Testing Days
  * New D-Bus Uploaded
  * Launchpadlib support in ubuntu-dev-tools
  * The removal of /dev/.static/dev
  * udevadm, and why you should stop what you're doing
  * Developer changes

Jaunty Developer Week logs available

The Developer Week for Jaunty is almost over, and there have been many great
sessions. Logs of all sessions have been kept and they are appearing on the
wiki as they are processed. They can provide a useful resource on the topics
  covered.

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDeveloperWeek

Colin Watson elected to the Technical Board
---

Colin Watson became the newest member of the Technical Board. Developers
voted in a poll with a choice between him and Kees Cook.

  https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-dev/+poll/2009-01-tb-nominees

Package bug reporting guidelines in launchpad
-

Brian Murray recently reported that Launchpad now supports package bug
reporting
guidelines, which can help users to file better bug reports by giving them
specific
instructions for a particular package. He outlined the method by which they
will
  be updated.

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2009-January/027206.html

Testing Days

Ara Pulido explained that the QA team are planning to do Testing Days for new
features
in Juanty, so that the new code is tested before it is announced as a new
feature
  at release.

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2009-January/027159.html

New D-Bus Uploaded
--

Scott James Remnant announced changes to dbus in order to to fix a security
problem. This change may impact any package that ships a dbus service, and
may cause them to stop working if their service configuration is incorrect,
though an attempt was made to audit services to avoid this.

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2009-January/027220.html

Launchpadlib support in ubuntu-dev-tools

Markus Korn and Jonathan Davies worked on integrating launchpadlib in to
ubuntu-dev-tools to provide more robust access to Launchpad. It uses
different credentials to the current ubuntu-dev-tools, so you will be
required to generate new credentials. A new tools was also included to
make managing these credentials easier. Work is ongoing to transition all
  of ubuntu-dev-tools to use launchpadlib.

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2009-January/027186.html

The removal of /dev/.static/dev
---

Scott James Remnant explained where /dev/.static/dev went, and what the
replacement is. If you relied on access to the static /dev then you should
read his post for how to make udev do what you need instead.

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2009-January/027184.html

udevadm, and why you should stop what you're doing
--

Scott James Remnant (yes, him again) explained some of the misuses of
udevadm, and how to achieve the desired effect without abusing udev.
If you know of a package that calls udevadm in its maintainer scripts
then you should update it according to the instructions in Scott's post.

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2009-January/027260.html

Developer Changes
-

  * Dustin Kirkland (kirkland) became a core-dev after his impressive work,
mainly in
the server team.
  * Stéphane Graber (stgraber) gained upload rights for the LTSP packages in
main after
being the de-facto maintainer for a long time and recently becoming a
MOTU.
  * Thierry Carrez (Koon) became a MOTU after a few months working in the
server and
Java teams.
  * Iulian Udrea (iulian) after sustained and varied contributions to the MOTU
team.

[Bug 252977] Re: Hardy and Intrepid freeze with kernel error: Eeek! page_mapcount(page) went negative! (-1)

2009-01-25 Thread Richard Corner
Oddly, the syslog has started including some trace information since I
redirected tty0 output to the serial port. I don't know why this would
be, but attached is the console output and corresponding syslog for
another Eeek! incident. This happened when I wasn't doing anything
directly on the machine, but had the desktop and (I think) Thunar file
manager open. Unlike the previous incident the desktop was displaying
correctly, and the desktop only froze about a minute after I saw the
errors appearing on the minicom terminal.

[Bug 321062] [NEW] Network Manager Crashes After Connecting To A Non Broadcasting SSID Network

2009-01-25 Thread jimlovell777
Public bug reported:

If I connect to a hidden wireless network and later try to connect to a
non hidden network the network manager crashes and I must reboot. Also
when I try setting a static IP for my computer instead of using DHCP my
settings fail to save and I have to re-configure the connection every
time I reboot or get disconnected from my network. I'm running Ibex.

[Bug 321061] [NEW] Host X Server doesn't receive any mouse events when using rdesktop

2009-01-25 Thread Naveen N Rao
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rdesktop

Intrepid Ibex, with latest updates on T61p. Using compiz.

When using rdesktop, all mouse and keyboard events within the rdesktop
window are not seen by the host X Server. This results in gnome-power-
manager dimming the screen every now and then; and gnome-screensaver
kicks in after a while even though I've been using the rdesktop session
continuously. If I move my mouse outside the rdesktop window, only then
the mouse event is registered by the host x server.

I don't know if this is a problem with rdesktop or with the xorg server.

[Bug 321059] [NEW] Denial Of Service By Keyring Manager

2009-01-25 Thread jimlovell777
Public bug reported:

Not sure if this qualifies as a bug but when I'm using my Sony Vaio
laptop and I don't want or need to connect to my wifi network I get a
popup asking for my password to unlock the keyring for my WEP/WPA key.
If I click deny the window just keeps popping up asking for my password
until I finally give and just enter it. So then i must go disable
networking since after entering my password I get connected to my access
point. Shouldn't selecting deny stop the action and prevent the keyring
from asking for your password over and over and over with no ability to
stop it?

[Bug 320391] Re: impossible to print multple copies under ubuntu 8.10 and the current test release

2009-01-25 Thread Jörg BUCHMANN
** Description changed:

- Ubuntu 8.10 and current test release
- openoffice
+ The current error exists under Ubuntu 8.10 and the current test release
+ when printing from openoffice

It is impossible for me to print multiple copies of the same document
from openoffice and I have this problem with all my different printers.
- I only get one copy printed.
+
+ When I choose for example 3 copies in the print window I actually get
+ only one copy printed. I have tried this with a simple document
+ containing just test as content as well as more complicated documents
+ containing pictures.
+
+ My printers are Xerox 8860 and HP LaserJet 3055, both are network
+ printers with their own network card.
+
+ I don't have the problem printing with firefox, for example, only from
+ openoffice.

Chris Crisafulli a écrit :
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How
 to report bugs effectively
 http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
 http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

 At a minimum, we need:
 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
 problem,
 2. the behavior you expected, and
 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
 Thanks!

[Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime

2009-01-25 Thread unggnu
Maybe it is/was better to poll the hard drive on effected systen every x
seconds to prevent spinning down but still let use the ohter features of apm.
Maybe the hardware vendors/ hard driver producers should be contacted how they
deal with it under Windows.

[Bug 320821] Re: [i945GM] After loading background crashes back to GDM. Works with 'driver vesa'.

2009-01-25 Thread Saku Ytti
You're right, I did got packages, including mesa now, which were not
available yesterday while troubleshooting.

After installing the packages, I could again start gnome with intel driver.
During the whole 'poor intel GPU performance'
issue I saw ~300fps for glxgears, now I got ~60fps. After enabling UXA I get
~500fps. I don't think 500fps is yet
where it should be, but from usability point of view, I have no complains now.
mplayer videos work in full screen,
compiz cube switches without lag.

Thanks guys.

[Bug 319829] Re: gnome-do lost settings after update 21.01.09

2009-01-25 Thread Dendino
I've had the same problem.
The gnome-do preferences screen was gray. And Gnome-do would even hang on
startup.

In gconf-editor at Apps/Gnome-do I found that there was a new formatting for
settings and the old settings weren't deleted/copied well.
I then deleted the /home/username/.gconf/apps/gnome-do folder, killed all
gnome-do instance and started gnome-do again.
Now all works fine :-)

[Bug 315269] Re: F5 VPN SSL doesn't work in Ubuntu 8.10 (routes not created)

2009-01-25 Thread frenchy77
My problem was solved on the server side. F5 VPN server was updated with last
version by the technical team of my enterprise, and now it works. The new
plug-in was automatically detected and updated by Firefox 3.
Very strange, because the old plug-in worked fine on Fedora 10 with Firefox 3,
so I thought there was a problem with Ubuntu.
Now the connection works, and it is very stable.

[Bug 321074] [NEW] [usability] Make WordWrap option for long calculations

2009-01-25 Thread RomanIvanov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

gcalctool is nice application and I like possibility to see all summands
(example 12+123+12312+3423+23545+97 ) on the sreen before pressing =
- It is very useful functionality - as you can check twice before
pressing =.

But It will be nice to have ability to WordWrap sentence to few lines
instead of making horizontal scrolling - because scrolling hide half of
sentence, and annoy. Special option for this in menu View will be good
compromise.

Sentence: 12+123+12312+3423+23545+97
Expected if I have short calculator window width:

[Bug 292450] Re: Broadcom STA/wl driver causes random kernel panics

2009-01-25 Thread yang_yi_cn
I found out it's something to do with the router setting of renew group
key, when it was set to 1 hr, for example, after the router renews the
group key, the wl driver becomes very unstable, or NM seems to be
connected but actually not.

My workaround is just change the renewal interval to 10hr, which solves
the problem in most cases.

On my freshly installed kubuntu with updates etc. I don't know where to

I also tried to make a file hcid.conf which was not there - with no success.
Also passkey-agent is missing in the repos. (this was a hint on forums - but it
seems to be for older versions?)

[Bug 292739] Re: Evolution 2.24.1 really slow with big IMAP folders

2009-01-25 Thread Vasil Kolev
Okay, I finally used my head for a while, and found a work-around for this
problem. In short,
cat ~/evolution/mai/imap/*/folders.db /dev/null
before starting evolution seems to make it load at least as fast as the
versions before sqlite.

Now, this seems to be an issue either with the block device scheduler, sqlite
or both. It's visible that when you have two tasks that do a lot of disk IO
(firefox tends to do that when first reading the location bar cache, or
updatedb, or dpkg), then the whole system grinds down to a halt. Evolution does
the same just by itself, by doing a lot of small reads on two files in parallel
and most drives don't really like that.
(I might try testing this on a RAID1 array of faster drives, if that could be
useful)

For the record, I'm using standard intrepid + proposed.

[Bug 319717] Re: [iGM45] Connecting external monitor causes system to lock up.

2009-01-25 Thread Ben James
Attached is an edited kernel log; I checked the time before plugging in
the external monitor (Jan 25 09:37:03) - everything before that time has
been removed, so hopefully the log makes more sense now.

I'll give the LiveCD a go and see if the latest alpha, however it might
take me a while to download the image, burn the CD, etc.

More info come...

[Bug 321085] [NEW] print system: postscript to raster converter crops page head

2009-01-25 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a HP LaserJet 1300. After installation, ubuntu by default chooses
the Foomatic/hpijs driver (marked as 'recommended'). Unfortunately, this
driver crops some millimeters of the letterhead if I print a letter
(made with latex) in european A4 format. The driver seems to be unable
to use the full printing area.

If I choose the postscript printer driver (i.e. send postscript directly
to the printer) the letters are printed correctly, so it is not a matter
of the printer hardware itself. Unfortunately, the internal postscript
interpreter of that printer has some bugs, so it can't print everything.
With some postscript files the printer just crashes. These files need to
be printed with the Foomatic/hpijs driver. Thus I have to toggle the
printer driver several times a day (sort of annoying). Would be nice if
the default driver (footmatic) could print A4 correctly.

Another hint that might be related: I recently visited a friend and
connected my ubuntu notebook with his older HP LaserJet (no idea which
model it was), which was automatically detected and configured. But when
printing a picture, the dithering was rather rough, large visible
dithering. Printing the same picture with the same printer on his
Windows machine produced a much finer, almost invisible dithering.

I guess both problems are related to parameters passed to ghostscript
for convertig postscript into raster data?

regards

[Bug 321086] [NEW] iPod Nano - Error transferring Track - Could not write to resource

2009-01-25 Thread Matthew Lewellen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I have two iPods (one for me, one for the wife). We use the iPods
primarily for technical podcasts (although we understand that some
people use them for music as well).

I am running Rhythmbox 0.11.6 on Ubuntu Intrepid.
The iPods are:
iPod Nano (2GB 2nd Generation | Model No.: A1199) -- this is the problem
device
 iPod Nano (8GB 4th Generation | Model No.: A1285)

The 8GB iPod Nano works flawlessly with the podcast aggregator; however,
the 2GB (older) iPod Nano keeps getting the following error:

Error transferring track - Could not write to resource.

Everything else works as advertised, and all contents on the iPod are
visible, etc. from within Rhythmbox and other applications designed to
work with the iPod.

The 2GB iPod Nano has the same problem (podcasts cannot be written to
it) with all of the other podcast aggregators I have found, which leads
me to believe that the compatibility bug extends beyond rhythmbox. (We
have tried Amarok, gtkpod, Songbird, gpodder, etc. with no luck)

If you are aware of a workaround, patch, or something obvious I may have
overlooked, please advise.

[Bug 157286] Re: System really slow like if no DMA from Edgy

2009-01-25 Thread n3ko
Attached the output of dmesg.
Sometimes dmesg mention somting else, like ,limiting speed to UDMA/66'.
I didnt care if UDMA/100 or 66 is used, but it didnt use eighter. It realy
slow, it seams there is no dma at all.
The same tasks (soffice writer, firefox) are noticable faster with ms xp (not
very fast, because of lack of memory, there are only 256M), which on other low
memory machine is slower then ubuntu.
