If you _must_ play it then your only choice is to add the Medibuntu
repo which provides 64 bit realplayer builds. Converting it will
surely cause loss of fidelity, however if that is acceptable you can
always try:

mencoder movie.rmvb -o movie.avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts fixed_quant=5
-oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=256

Which would spit out an AVI file. For it to work you need mplayer
installed along with the Win32 codecs.

There are many ways to create a Windows LiveCD/USB. One of the
methods I remember worked for me was using Bart PE. You can also find
a utility that copies the PE environment to a USB stick (pe2usb it was
called i think). Google around a bit for Bart PE and PeToUSB.exe, you
can find all the utilities to create a live Windows XP environment and
then transfer it to a USB stick.

All the best.

[ubuntu-in] Problem playing .rm files

2009-09-29 Thread ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ್
Dear Friends,
I have a small problem in Ubuntu playing rm files, not all but only those
available on http://www.aduni.org/courses/theory/index.php?view=cw

All rm and rmvb videos can be played with my movie player, but not the
videos on this particular website. But I can play it on Real player in
Windows.

I use Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit, so no real player officially available.

I am open to suggestions including converting to some other format (I tried
using ffmpeg, but cud not do it)

After buying XP, M$ must be providing any support feature. You must
ask to M$ regarding this because they know better then us on close
source technology.

Well http://www.vandomburg.net/installing-windows-xp-from-usb/
And if the OP had tried a bit he'd have found a lot of links on google
and wouldn't have had to waste his time here.
Or he could just buy an external USB DVD Drive.

[ubuntu-in] Need Help in installing Dual OS without any Optical drive

2009-09-29 Thread nagendra prasad
Hi All,

I need some help regrading OS. I have an Acer aspire one laptop and it dose
not have an optical drive. So, every time when I have to install XP and
Ubuntu Grub I have to plug in my DVD drive. However the problem is that my
DVD drive is not working anymore and if I have to reinstall either XP or
Ubuntu I have to borrow a DVD drive from my friend. However I need some
kind of arrangement with which I don't have to borrow anything from my
friend again and again. I have 2 USB pen drive with me and I know how to
install Ubuntu using a pen drive. I just want to know how to install XP
using a pen drive. I have tried all the methods that you get when you Google
the keywords like "how to install xp using a pen drive". I need some kind
of concrete solution.

Please help me.
