Eh. Maybe for the time 15 years ago, but not for 2010. Nothing admirable
or sensible in using it now.

Its a shame that 90% colleges across India *still* use it to teach C/C++
programming. That's 90% of our CS workforce learning a 15 year old
programming standard, and they don't even realize it.

Some minor correction. The online release is on 30th September.
27th September is date for the film showcase at Netherlands film festival.

Saying 'many IDE' is not enough. How many IDEs do you know? Which ones
have you tried? What errors did you get?

Try to answer those questions and I am sure you will get good help
from community.

NO, this is not true. If you use GCC/G++ in Windows DevCPP) or Linux, Both
are almost same. (Do not reply back with TC3 which is 20 year old DOS based
stupid software).

Also, CodeBlocks , Netbeans and Eclipse are very good IDE. If you say, IDE
is not working, I am assuming that you are unable to use IDE. try learning
it.

Then you are probably using the wrong base. If you are interested in a
minimal system, start with Ubuntu Minimal ISO that is only 10 MB but needs
net connection to download all packages that you may configure it for. Or
start with a Server CD, Install the base system and then add apps of your
choice.

If you want even more customisation there is Arch which lets you choose
everything, but is more involved with the command line, but has excellent
documentation to assist you in every step of the way.

AFAIK uninstalling packages from a full Linux desktop install like Ubuntu
will leave a system unstable or unusable as the packages are tightly
integrated and dependant on each other.

Persoannly if you are looking for EASY customisation Ubuntu Server CD is the
best bet.

Hey guys ..

I am a 4th year, BE student from Mumbai. We have a local student society
called CESS for our college's Computer Department. We are planning to
have a seminar on Linux - Ubuntu this semester, i.e. before the 2nd week
of November this year. Does anyone in this community conduct such
seminars ?

We can bear costs, if any, for the seminar and a mediocre to great turn
up can be guaranteed (it will be compulsory for the BE students) !

Anticipating an early reply from the community. For reference, my email
