[Bug 1469168] [NEW] localhost is listed as a debian-server (and everything is included to fix it)
Public bug reported: When freshly installed, the basic configuration only monitors the localhost. It is displayed in the web GUI with a debian logo. There is a hostgroup called debian-servers in /etc/nagios3/conf.d/hostgroups_nagios2.cfg with localhost as a member. There is also a hostextinfo in /etc/nagios3/conf.d/extinfo_nagios2.cfg that indicates the paths to the debian logo for the hostgroup debian-server. In the directory where the logo is stored, there is a lot of logos including ubuntu.png. I changed all occurencies of debian in hostgroups_nagios2.cfg by ubuntu. I changed all occurencies of debian in extinfo_nagios2.cfg by ubuntu. The localhost server is now part of a Ubuntu group with a Ubuntu logo next to it. As everything is included and only the conf has to be changed, I think it must be fixed in the default package. [Bug 1469168] [NEW] localhost is listed as a debian-server (and everything is included to fix it)
Public bug reported: When freshly installed, the basic configuration only monitors the localhost. It is displayed in the web GUI with a debian logo. There is a hostgroup called debian-servers in /etc/nagios3/conf.d/hostgroups_nagios2.cfg with localhost as a member. There is also a hostextinfo in /etc/nagios3/conf.d/extinfo_nagios2.cfg that indicates the paths to the debian logo for the hostgroup debian-server. In the directory where the logo is stored, there is a lot of logos including ubuntu.png. I changed all occurencies of debian in hostgroups_nagios2.cfg by ubuntu. I changed all occurencies of debian in extinfo_nagios2.cfg by ubuntu. The localhost server is now part of a Ubuntu group with a Ubuntu logo next to it. As everything is included and only the conf has to be changed, I think it must be fixed in the default package. Hi Rick, Welcome to the linux world! Well, after the Windows 10 icon pops up, telling me to upgrade . . . I started thinking, I not going to pay a subscription fee to MS.. heck no. Be aware that there is an expectancy of payment in the linux society as well. Not necessarily in economic terms, though many software creators ask for donations or encourage subscriptions, bughunting or other contributions. But you have to pay with your time. If running windows compares to driving a Volvo, running Linux might compare to driving a scooter, a racing car or a digging machine - all depending on your needs and wishes. In any case, expect a learning curve and make sure you've got some time to invest. If you do, then try some of the USB live distros available. Many meet some or most of your requirements (those regarding privacy and security will mostly be the responsibility of the user on ANY system), but they look and feel very different. As far as i can remember using debian based Linux (not so far, 2009) every single distro i have used worked out of the box. There was once this exotic motherboard with funky new ethernet. But the next kernel fixed included it The switch from OSX/windows wasn't easy, but it was much simpler than i anticipated. And the community is awesome, so exploring the possibilities and alternatives is a real pleasure. When you need assistance, you get to talk to humans. Not some stressed out, under-payed and coffee over-/under-kicked robot with a ticking time counter. Ubuntu default (or whatever it should be called) is not that much of my tea cup either. Simply because I just can't live with the idea of having amazone built-in my machine. I recommend Xubuntu. Hey ram, (could not resist that :) One way I find useful sometimes is installing software to an alternate prefix folder other than /. Sandbox-installation if you will. Then figure out the paths of all the files installed and delete them from the actual folder. Not sure if this can be done with your .run file though. You can leave all GTK+2 terminal apps as is - they will still work as they should even with their corresponding alt.scroll patches enabled. This patch only enables alt.scroll in the temrinal apps that haven't been patched yet, that's all. Actually, the only GTK+2 terminal app that is patched is xfce4-terminal. Other apps like mate-terminal, roxterm-gtk2, lxterminal are not patched. Is there something else needed for SRU here?
