[Bug 585137] Re: cheese crashes on startup
The problem seems to have gone away after I switched to fglrx for the video driver. I think I can figure out the root cause of this crash if someone tells me how to convince the cheese build system to build binaries without optimization so that I don't get that annoying value optimized out stuff in the backtrace. That will probably be easier than having someone else who doesn't have access to the hardware try to guess what's going wrong from a backtrace, especially if the problem turns out not to be in cheese itself. -- cheese crashes on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585137 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, I got everything transferred. It just took a ridiculously long time. I have not needed to sync anything since then, so I don't know if the problem has gone away. This bug is still present in Kubuntu Lucid. Does GNOME work around it? If so, it that documented anywhere? [Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips
I think the most compelling use case for tooltips (aside from the battery indicator) is the music player. I like to be able to quickly see what's playing, without having to click on anything. Granted, this isn't a problem for users of Docky, which can support such tooltips for Rhythmbox's dock icon, so maybe something along those lines would be the best way to deal with that issue. That doesn't help the battery indicator situation much, though. Furthermore, KDE application indicators have tooltips, and I don't think they will be willing to change that, so supporting tooltips for GTK+ application indicators would help from a consistency standpoint. -- please include status messages/tooltips https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 571371] [NEW] Ubuntu One sync is ridiculously slow
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client I purchased 99 MB of music from the Ubuntu One Music Store. These files are taking a *really* long time to download via ubuntuone-syncdaemon. The daemon has lost its connection several times during the sync process. I was able to download the files fairly quickly using the web interface, though, so I know I have a good connection to the Ubuntu One servers. [Bug 562310] [NEW] Phonon never uses PulseAudio backend
Public bug reported: If I select PulseAudio output for Phonon, the stream coming in to PulseAudio (according to pavucontrol) comes from the PulseAudio ALSA plugin, not directly from Phonon. This may be the reason Amarok crashes on startup when using the GStreamer backend (see KDE bug #232068). The problem of Phonon audio output reaching PulseAudio by way of ALSA is also present in the Xine backend, but this does not cause applications to crash. However, the Xine backend does not play certain FLAC files correctly. The reason I am reporting this here instead of upstream is that ubuntu- bug recognizes libphonon4 as being part of qt4-x11, so it seems that Ubuntu is using Phonon from Qt4. Colin Guthrie says (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232068#c3) that the correct Phonon to use is the one from Gitorious (presumably http://gitorious.org/phonon), not the one from Qt4. [Bug 562345] [NEW] banshee-extension-appindicator should not depend on indicator-applet
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee-community-extensions indicator-applet should not be a dependency, since it pulls in a bunch of GNOME stuff that KDE users don't want (the KDE system tray provides support for application indicators). Alternatively, the dependency could be changed to indicator-applet | kdebase-workspace-bin. It looks like the problem is in the Kubuntu packaging: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=234072 The root of the problem, though, seems to be existence of two Phonons: Qt4-Phonon and standalone Phonon. [Bug 519038] [NEW] GNU make package does not use dpkg alternatives system
