[Bug 1955087] [NEW] bluetooth cannot transfer files to phone although connected

2021-12-16 Thread Gordon Fitch
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu version: 20.4

Not sure of package (bluez)? (Whatever handles Bluetooth)

What I expected: File is transferred.

What happened: transfer fails with mysterious error code (0x53) which
sometimes shows up on phone and sometimes doesn't. In any case the
transfer fails.

Additional notes: Error was observed before,
see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=202815, however suggested
solution on that page doesn't work for me so I assume there is some difference.

[Bug 1536409] Re: gimp move by holding space bar does not terminate

2016-07-12 Thread Gordon Fitch
Same version, same problem, not running fullscreen mode. Cannot escape
hangup because the mouse and graphics tablet inputs continue to be
captured (I assume). When I signed on from another computer via ssh and
killed the Gimp process, everything else appeared to resume running
normally.

[Bug 1536409] [NEW] gimp move by holding space bar does not terminate

2016-01-20 Thread Gordon Fitch
Public bug reported:

package: gimp 2.8.14

release: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS

circumstance: Running gimp in full screen mode, moving image around by
depressing space bar and using mouse. Cursor changes to fist. Note
that image was larger by a good bit than window / view of image.

expected behavior: On releasing space bar, cursor should resume previous
mode and moving mouse should not move image.

observed behavior: On releasing space bar, gimp remains in same state
(moving image). Moving the cursor outside the window does not release
the move either. Clicking mouse (either side) has no effect in window
or out. Nor does ESC, space, break, or any other keyboard action. In
full screen mode, it is necessary to reboot or restart the desktop to
get out of the situation.

[Bug 311297] Re: growisofs unable to burn dual layer DVD-R

2015-10-31 Thread Gordon Fitch
I have experienced this problem with Ubuntu 14.04. Until a few months ago the
problem did not occur, but then I started to observe inevitable failures when
the target was a DL DVD-R. I have a machine still running 12.04 which does not
exhibit the problem; it has no trouble writing the DVDs. I conclude the change
made to 14.04 is the current problem.
The error messages I get are similar to those already posted here.

Re: [Bug 1090413] Re: Cursor moved by Wacom tablet does not evoke hidden Unity bar

2015-09-01 Thread Gordon Fitch
I tried the Wacom 'Intuos Pen Small' CTL-480 hooked up to a
Dell Vostro 220 running Ubuntu 14.04, and moving the cursor
to the left edge of the screen did not bring out the Unity
panel, where as the USB mouse I'm using did. I can test this
with the Asus Eee running 12.04 if desired, etc.

[Bug 1398035] [NEW] grub suddenly unable to get keystrokes from wireless keyboard and mouse

2014-12-01 Thread Gordon Fitch
Public bug reported:

Problem appeared after automatic update of version 12.04, (12.04.5) and
also after trying to update to 14.04. Keyboard, mouse work OK with
previous versions and LiveCD of 12.04.1. In 12.04, loader presented
menu from which selection could not be made with either mouse or
keyboard and did not time out. In 14.04, could not select from menu but
menu timed out.

Substituting old-style keyboard and USB mouse caused problem to
disappear (thus far). Boot is normal, computer is now running normally.

Ubuntu versions: see above.

Wireless keyboard is Logitech Y-RAK73. No legible information on mouse
or receiver.

Attempted to use Apport, but it crashed.

[Bug 1398035] Re: grub suddenly unable to get keystrokes from wireless keyboard and mouse

2014-12-01 Thread Gordon Fitch
The menu I saw offered different versions of the operating system, one
per line. Since both the keyboard and the mouse were apparently not
effective, pressing 'C' would presumably have no effect. The choices
were different after I installed 14.04 and tried that, but the failure
to receive anything from the mouse or keyboard was the same.

Re: [Bug 1398035] Re: grub suddenly unable to get keystrokes from wireless keyboard and mouse

2014-12-01 Thread Gordon Fitch
I was not able to obtain a command line from the 12.04 LiveCD.
It was made on Oct. 3, 2012, probably right after installing
12.04 for the first time, if it makes any difference. Can I
get the information by reading the disk?

Phillip Susi:
I was asking about when you boot the 12.04 live cd that you mentioned
 did not have the problem.

[Bug 1249940] Re: Thunderbird picks incorrect mime type for inline picture when drag-and-dropping

2014-05-23 Thread Gordon Fitch
I experienced the same problem dragging jpgs to message I was composing.
The resultant attachment is characterized as something.txt, which
confuses many mail readers. It may also be incorrectly encoded. I am
running Thunderbird 24.5.0 on Ubuntu 12.4 on a Dell Vostro (32-bit
Intel) machine.

I am writing on an Eee PC, therefore, small screen. Unity pane/bar is
normally hidden and is supposed to pop out when cursor is moved to left

[Bug 622483] Re: Rhythmbox import from folder appears to choke on large number of files

2010-08-27 Thread Gordon Fitch
IN order to cut the problem data down to manageable size, I tried the
following, which is associated with the problem reported. In this case a
playable MP3 file is imported (as the contents of a folder) and doesn't show
up, yet there is no error message. The folder name is
'/media/m2/A/music/verdi' and the file is 'Verdi - _Nabucco_ - Karajan
[Complete].mp3'. The following files will be attached:
* rhythmbox-debug-0.txt (Start RB with no database, a few files in ~/Music)
* rhythmdb.0.xml  (result in ~/.local/share/rhythmbox)
* rhythmbox-debug-1.txt   (try to add Verdi mp3)
* rhythmdb.1.xml  (result in ~/.local/share/rhythmbox)

I will continue to try to replicate the choking problem
deterministically; thus far things have occurred differently with each
run.

** Attachment added: attempt to add verdi fle, no error shown, file does not
appear

[Bug 622483] [NEW] Rhythmbox import from folder appears to choke on large number of files

2010-08-22 Thread Gordon Fitch
Public bug reported:

I attempted to import a folder containing several thousand MP3s.
The process stopped after approximately 1220 had been scanned,
without an error message. Most of the files do not appear in any
of the displays, so I take it they have not been imported. I am
wondering if there is some upper limit; I do not see anything about
it in the documentation. It has been suggested that this is a bug.
