[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2010-01-09 Thread Jan David Mol
Having this problem for the last days even though my setup hasn't
changed for over a year. Using Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit running awesome. Using
a Logitech MX300 (ancient, but similar to one in report). My setup at
work with external monitor and different mouse hasn't shown the issue
yet.

Occasionally losing focus and no responding mouse buttons for seemingly
any application or all except one (firefox, pidgin, virtualbox, what I
happen to be using at the time). When triggered, the touchpad buttons
can't be used either.

I never could get the mentioned workarounds to work, but that could be
because I use awesome.

I found out that using the generic postscript driver does allow me to
print! The Xerox PPD file was working under Jaunty though. The printing
attempt below is of course with the custom PPD.

[Bug 420490] Re: There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-document-format-not-supported'

2009-10-08 Thread Jan David Mol
I can now print with the normal printer as well, but I'm a bit unsure
why. I moved /var/cache/cups/xrxwest.ipp out of the way and restarted
cups, which seems to magically allow me to print, but the xrxwest.ipp
that got created in its place is the same bit for bit.

This would mean that using a generic postscript driver worked simply
because I added a new printer for it.

Does this make any sense?

I now have in /var/cache/cups:
   4 drwxrwxr-x 3 root lp 4096 2009-10-08 14:47 .
   4 drwxr-xr-x 24 root root4096 2009-09-27 20:03 ..

Notice the mix of lp/root ownership.

2009-10-08 Thread Jan David Mol
I now have a functional (xrxwest) and a non-functional (xrxcontrol)
printer of the same type. Since I rarely use the latter, it's your call
whether I should attempt to fix it as per #20, or if I should keep it
this way to test something else.

Sorry for the separate messages :)

2009-10-06 Thread Jan David Mol
I'm not connected to any printer at the moment, but /var/log/cups/error_log
keeps spawning
Print-Job client-error-document-format-not-supported: Unsupported format
'application/pdf' !
So I'm assuming it's not working. I'll try tomorrow at work again just to be
sure.

ghostscript-cups was installed (8.70.dfsg.1-0ubuntu2).
updated, no improvement. For the logs: am at cups 1.4.1-4 and ghostscript-cups
8.70.dfsg.1-0ubuntu2.
reinstalling ghostscript-cups restarting cups.. no improvement
reinstalling cups.. no improvement

Maybe relevant tidbits:
* using a PPD file from Xerox's website
* running awesome instead of gnome (but with gnome-settings-daemon)
* echo foo | lpr gives the same error for text/plain:

[Bug 378583] [NEW] application switcher desktop wall clashes when while holding the modifier key

2009-05-20 Thread Jan David Mol
Public bug reported:

I'm using the 'Super' modifier in both the Desktop Wall plugin
(Super+left/right) and the Application Switcher (Super+tab). A common
scenario for me is to switch between walls and between applications
right after that. However, when I hold Super and press Left, pressing
Tab does not work unless I release and repress Super first.

The other way around does seem to work, but breaks in a different way:
If I'm holding Super in the Application Switcher, I can also switch
between walls with Super+left/right. However, the selection of
applications stays the same even though I switched between walls. So
once I select an application, I'm dragged back to the original wall.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04, with XFCE, and Compiz 0.8.2.

Confirmed on Jaunty. I have non-transparent white text on black, which
shows up everywhere Compiz seems to put text (emerald window titles,
scale window titles, resize info, application switcher window titles,
etc). Example screenshot attached for the heck of it.

This could be a dupe of bug #328937 by the way. If so, this one provides
a better traceback.

Xorg crashed again for me today with a similar but longer traceback. I
reported this as bug #357536, since I was unsure of how to extract the
proper information without reporting it as a new bug.

[Bug 322654] [NEW] new xfce4-panel fails to start quicklauncher and smartbookmarks

2009-01-29 Thread Jan David Mol
Public bug reported:

In Jaunty 9.04, xfce4-panel was recently upgraded to 4.5.99.1-0ubuntu2.
But it did not start my quicklauncher and smartbookmark plugins
properly. ~/.xsession-errors contains:

(xfce4-panel:5101): xfce4-panel-WARNING **: Internal plugins need the X
-XFCE-Module-Path entry to work properly.

(xfce4-panel:5101): xfce4-panel-WARNING **: Failed to create plugin
quicklauncher

(xfce4-panel:5101): xfce4-panel-WARNING **: Internal plugins need the X
-XFCE-Module-Path entry to work properly.

(xfce4-panel:5101): xfce4-panel-WARNING **: Failed to create plugin
smartbookmark

Expected behaviour: panel plugins would be started and operational
What happened: panel started, but missed plugins. no error on screen, only in
.xsession-errors.

I'm using
xfce4-panel 4.5.99.1-0ubuntu2
xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin 1.9.4-2ubuntu1
xfce4-smartbookmark-plugin 0.4.2-1ubuntu3
