[Bug 1335622] [NEW] Lightdm does not use /etc/skel when authenticating against Active Directory in KUbuntu
Public bug reported: When authenticating against an Active Directory using PowerBroker open (former likewise) and lightdm, /etc/skel is not copied in KUbuntu, but there is no problen in Ubuntu, even following the same steps. This is happening in KUbuntu, but not in Ubuntu, so I suppose the bug is due to some configuration files in it. Steps to reproduce: * Install KUbuntu * Install samba, cifs-utils, smbclient, ssh * Install PowerBroker open * Edit /etc/samba/smb.conf to match your domain (workgroup = yourdomain) and restart samba * Join the domain: sudo domainjoin-cli join fqdn.domain administrator@fqdm.domain sudo /opt/pbis/bin/config AssumeDefaultDomain true sudo /opt/pbis/bin/config UserDomainPrefix domain sudo /opt/pbis/bin/config LoginShellTemplate /bin/bash * Edit /usr/share/pam-configs/pbis and change: sufficient pam_lsass.so to: [success=ok default=ignore] pam_lsass.so * Edit /etc/nsswitch.conf and change: hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns to: hosts: files dns mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] mdns4 * sudo /opt/pbis/bin/lwsm restart lwio * Create the file /usr/share/pam-configs/my_mkhomedir: Name: activate mkhomedir Default: yes Priority: 900 Session-Type: Additional Session: required pam_mkhomedir.so umask=0022 skel=/etc/skel * sudo pam-auth-update * Edit the lightdm greeter config to allow manual login: - In Ubuntu: 50-unity-greeter.conf - In KUbuntu: 40-lightdm-kde-greeter.conf allow-guest=false user-session=kde-plasma greeter-show-remote-login=false greeter-show-manual-login=true * If using KUbuntu, edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm-kde-greeter.conf (not needed in Ubuntu) [greeter] theme-name=classic * Create some contents in /etc/skel * Reboot * Login with an AD user. If Ubuntu is used, /etc/skel files are copied to the user profile for the domain users, whether GUI or console login is used. If the distro is KUbuntu, the files are copied for console logins, but not with GUI. ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1335622 Title: Lightdm does not use /etc/skel when authenticating against Active Directory in KUbuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1335622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1200614] [NEW] epoptes daemon does not start
Public bug reported: Epoptes daemon does not automatically start on my Ubuntu 13.04 installation. I've manually changed the init priority in order for it to start later, as I thought it could be a priority problem with samba / likewise (the user group is an Active Directory group). If, once logged, I do: sudo service epoptes start ... it starts without problems. ** Affects: epoptes (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1200614 Title: epoptes daemon does not start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/epoptes/+bug/1200614/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 990947] Re: Shotwell crashes after start
Thanks for the alternatives to Shotwell. Anyway they don't help to fix this bug :D. 2012/10/2 reto ambrosini 990...@bugs.launchpad.net In the summer I had to switch to digikam too, I have lots of pictures and I was waiting for too long. Now I'm organising and tagging all my pictures in digikam, so I don't think I will go back to shotwell, or I have to redo this once more. Digikam is a little bit big and need kde libraries, but works very good, is stable and offers more funcions than shotwell. In digikam I can geotag my pictures directly, without the need of an external software. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I understand this error happens while importing videos from the collection. Is there anyway of disable that (as a workaround)? [Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)
Hi, I don't have the problem with the new version or at least by the moment. If it happens again, I'll tell you as fast as possible. Thanks. -- Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110394 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108527] Re: desktop-effects enabled sometime freeze computer
Hi, Here is exactly the same. Mine is an Acer Aspire 1652 LMI with an ATI Mobility Radeon X300. I hadn't this problem with Dapper. It's just happening with Feisty Fawn. If I stop Desktop-effects, the problem disapears. I tried to insall Beryl instead of Compiz (current desktop-effects in Feisty) and I get again the same mistake after a while (it can be 5 minutes or a whole day). It's quite anoying... and the only possible solution in press the Shutdown button cause keyboard is not woking at all (even Shift, bloq. shift, ...). Any clue? Thanks. ** Also affects: compizsettings (upstream) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- desktop-effects enabled sometime freeze computer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108527 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)
I have just detected a little difference between the problem of the related bug and mine: My mouse works but I can't interact with any window. I think the difference comes from the fact that I have Desktop Effects on. So I will wait till the moment the problem happens again (it happens randomly and not very often) and send you dmesg.log just after the first reboot. I'll switch the effects off in order to check if I the error is the same or not. If it is, I'll send you the result of the script you told me. [Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)
Hi, I have exactly the same problem. I'm reviewing the logs in /var/log and I don't find any significant error. The mouse works but the keyboard is totally frozen. I'll try to find any aditional clue. Regards and thanks in advance for your help.
