[Bug 1335622] [NEW] Lightdm does not use /etc/skel when authenticating against Active Directory in KUbuntu

2014-06-29 Thread Jorge García
Public bug reported:

When authenticating against an Active Directory using PowerBroker open
(former likewise) and lightdm, /etc/skel is not copied in KUbuntu, but
there is no problen in Ubuntu, even following the same steps.

This is happening in KUbuntu, but not in Ubuntu, so I suppose the bug is
due to some configuration files in it.

Steps to reproduce:

* Install KUbuntu

* Install samba, cifs-utils, smbclient, ssh

* Install PowerBroker open

* Edit /etc/samba/smb.conf to match your domain (workgroup =
yourdomain) and restart samba

* Join the domain:
 sudo domainjoin-cli join fqdn.domain administrator@fqdm.domain
 sudo /opt/pbis/bin/config AssumeDefaultDomain true
 sudo /opt/pbis/bin/config UserDomainPrefix domain
 sudo /opt/pbis/bin/config LoginShellTemplate /bin/bash

* Edit /usr/share/pam-configs/pbis and change:
 sufficient pam_lsass.so
   to:
[success=ok default=ignore] pam_lsass.so

* Edit /etc/nsswitch.conf and change:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns
  to:
hosts: files dns mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] mdns4

* sudo /opt/pbis/bin/lwsm restart lwio

* Create the file /usr/share/pam-configs/my_mkhomedir:
Name: activate mkhomedir
Default: yes
Priority: 900
Session-Type: Additional
Session:
required
pam_mkhomedir.so umask=0022 skel=/etc/skel

* sudo pam-auth-update

* Edit the lightdm greeter config to allow manual login:
- In Ubuntu: 50-unity-greeter.conf
- In KUbuntu: 40-lightdm-kde-greeter.conf
allow-guest=false
user-session=kde-plasma
greeter-show-remote-login=false
greeter-show-manual-login=true

* If using KUbuntu, edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm-kde-greeter.conf (not needed in
Ubuntu)
[greeter]
theme-name=classic

* Create some contents in /etc/skel

* Reboot

* Login with an AD user.

If Ubuntu is used, /etc/skel files are copied to the user profile for
the domain users, whether GUI or console login is used. If the distro is
KUbuntu, the files are copied for console logins, but not with GUI.

[Bug 1200614] [NEW] epoptes daemon does not start

2013-07-12 Thread Jorge García
Public bug reported:

Epoptes daemon does not automatically start on my Ubuntu 13.04
installation. I've manually changed the init priority in order for it to
start later, as I thought it could be a priority problem with samba /
likewise (the user group is an Active Directory group).

If, once logged, I do:

sudo service epoptes start

... it starts without problems.

Re: [Bug 990947] Re: Shotwell crashes after start

2012-10-02 Thread Jorge García
Thanks for the alternatives to Shotwell. Anyway they don't help to fix this
bug :D.

2012/10/2 reto ambrosini 990...@bugs.launchpad.net

In the summer I had to switch to digikam too, I have lots of pictures and
I was waiting for too long. Now I'm organising and tagging all my pictures
in digikam, so I don't think I will go back to shotwell, or I have to redo
 this once more.
Digikam is a little bit big and need kde libraries, but works very good,
is stable and offers more funcions than shotwell. In digikam I can geotag
my pictures directly, without the need of an external software.

[Bug 990947] Re: Shotwell crashes after start

2012-09-27 Thread Jorge García
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I understand this error happens
while importing videos from the collection.

Is there anyway of disable that (as a workaround)? Shotwell is
completely useless like this and I am not interested at all in importing
my videos in Shotwell, just pictures.

Thanks!

[Bug 863192] Re: Compiz using large amounts of CPU when running Chrome

2012-05-02 Thread Jorge García
By the way, it is completely related to the small bright on pinned tabs
when notification any update in the page. Once you put the focus on that
tabs, Compiz goes back to a normal CPU consume.

Depending on how many cores or threaded-cores you have in your computer,
you can see different CPU use (25, 50, ... 100%).

Another behavior that might be related, it's that exposing the windows
works perfectly for every window but Chrome, where I usually get a white
rectangle.

[Bug 665409] [NEW] simplescan no acepta el tama ño de hoja

2010-10-22 Thread Jorge García
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: simple-scan

Gracias.

2010-01-25 Thread Jorge García
Just to confirm once again, I updated yesterday to Lucid Lynx, and
with the 2.6.32 kernel the problem went away (though now I've got all
the problems derived from being using an Alpha version :P).

Regards,

2010/1/25 gajm lacun...@gmail.com:
Just to confirm, the backported Lucid kernel has solved the problem on my
 machine, EeePC 1000HE with AR928X.
Lucid backported 2.6.32-11.15 (based on 2.6.32.4)
 https://launchpad.net/~guido-iodice/+archive/best-intel
Everything seems to work fine, no disconnections reported by dmesg, excellent
link quality and a constant 3.0 MB/sec transfer rate.

[Bug 302767] [NEW] Toshiba Equium A200 shows no screens found after booting with Intrepid Ibex CD live

2008-11-27 Thread Jorge García
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I was trying to boot Ubuntu 8.10 live CD (Deskto Edition 32 bits) in
a Toshiba Equium A200 laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 (64MB).
Every thing seems to be booting properly, but at the end nothing
happens. If I change to a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F1) and I run 'startx'
I get a No screens found error. If I boot in secure graphics mode, I
get exactly the same problem.

Please, could you help me with this issue? If you need any additional
information, just tell me.

Thanks in advance,

Jorge.-

[Bug 215051] Re: grub not correctly installed during installation of hardy

2008-04-25 Thread Jorge García
Hi,

I got exactly the same error. The Ubuntu of 8.04 finished about 95%
without any success or error installation message. The progress status
bar just closed. I rebooted and I received Grub Error 22.

In 7.10 I had exactly the same problem and I unplugged all my USB
devices (Bluetooh, mouse, webcam, printer and scanner). No USB disks
were plugged nor the first time neither the second one. Then I
reinstalled and everything worked properly. In 8.04, the behavour has
been exactly the same, so 8.04 is running perfectly now.

Greetings and thank you

Jorge

computer for a month and everything is working perfectly, no more freezes.
The only different in the configuration of my PC is that I have just 2 Desktops
with the cube instead of 4. It's not as amazing showing a wall as showing a
cube, but I don't need more.
I'll try to set 4 up and check what's going on.

Luck,

Jorge.

[Bug 138551] Mimetypes lost and icons selector not loading

2007-09-10 Thread Jorge García
Public bug reported:

From last thursday to now I have these mistakes (I have Ubuntu Feisty
Fawn 7.04 in Spanish (ES) so I'll translate the messages and menus into
English in my best):

   - Default icon in loaded in nautilus for every kind of document (.odt, .rar,
.pdf, .zip, ...).
   - If I double click any file I have this message: Cannot open [here, the
path of the file]: No application suitable for automatic installation is
available for handling this kind of file.
   - I click the with right button, properties and Open with.. tab and I add
an application for opening the file (any). From now, it works properly for this
type of files, but the icon is still the same.
   - I try to change the icon, as usual, for example, for .rar files: Right
button click, properties, click on the icon, I select my ~/.icons/ directory
and I open the folder of any theme. Icons are not loading. If I click in Open
the window closes and I go back to the properties window without watching the
icons selector.
- Evince has stop working. I always get this message when I try to open a
.pdf file: Tipo MIME no soportado: «application/x-extension-pdf». In English:
MIME type not supported.

 Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Jorge.

[Bug 138551] Re: Mimetypes lost and icons selector not loading

2007-09-10 Thread Jorge García
More information:
I have just run:

sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime

and restarted my computer. After that, some icons has been reloaded
properly (.iso, .bzip, .php, ...) but others are still with deafult icon
(.doc, .zip, ...). Evince is working properly.

If I try to change the icon as I told in the previos message, I can't.
It happens exactly the same.

[Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)

2007-07-09 Thread Jorge García
I have discovered something interesting. If I remove the service
powernowd from the services list, everthing works good. The problem is
that I need powernow in order to control the speed of my processor (to
not get my computer very hot and use scalable speeds for my intel chip).

I hope it helps

[Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)

2007-06-22 Thread Jorge García
Of course,
The Spanish on the log is not very good, so this is my best with English:
Jun 20 23:30:25 portatil gconfd (jorge-5362): The address
«xml:readonly:/var/lib/gconf/defaults» was solved to a read only setup source
at position 4
Jun 20 23:30:34 portatil gconfd (jorge-5362): The address
«xml:readwrite:/home/jorge/.gconf» was solved to a writable setup source at
position 0

In the attached file (ifconfig.txt) you'll see vmnet1 and 8 interfaces.
This is due to the fact that I have just installed VMWare Server.

Moreover I don't stop searching on the Internet for the solution, but
...¡nothing!. I've just found more and more people with the same
problem, but not solution.

Thanks again and again,

Jorge.

[Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)

2007-06-13 Thread Jorge García
:( Unlikely, it has happened again. I was just listening to some music and
browsing the network and sudenly the image on the screen got frozen and
keyboard stopped responding (even Caps Lock and bloq num. lights). The mouse
moves perfectly, but it doesn't do any thing on the screen . No answer to
Ctrl+Atl+Del. When I press de poweoff button of my portable PC in order to do a
tidy shutdown, I see that there are still activity with the hardisk (because
of the LED lights), but the computer doesn't stop, so I have to keep the button
pressed down until it stops.
I tried to unplug all USB staff conected, but no answer.
Nothing is written in system logs.

Thanks,

Jorge+

[Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)

2007-06-13 Thread Jorge García
The error happens randomly (or I've not been able to guess the reason or
secuence of movements that let me there). The only common fact I've seen
always is that Beryl or Compiz were working. Once the error happens
again, I'll post the file /var/crash after a couple of minutes. Thanks
in advance.

[Bug 108527] Re: desktop-effects enabled sometime freeze computer

2007-06-04 Thread Jorge García
Hi,
Here is exactly the same. Mine is an Acer Aspire 1652 LMI with an ATI
Mobility Radeon X300. I hadn't this problem with Dapper. It's just happening
with Feisty Fawn. If I stop Desktop-effects, the problem disapears. I tried to
insall Beryl instead of Compiz (current desktop-effects in Feisty) and I get
again the same mistake after a while (it can be 5 minutes or a whole day).
It's quite anoying... and the only possible solution in press the Shutdown
button cause keyboard is not woking at all (even Shift, bloq. shift, ...).

 Any clue?

Thanks.

[Bug 110394] Re: Keyboard freezes completely and mouse interaction doesn't work for some tasks (Happens randomly but inevitable)

2007-04-29 Thread Jorge García
I have just detected a little difference between the problem of the related bug
and mine: My mouse works but I can't interact with any window. I think the
difference comes from the fact that I have Desktop Effects on. So I will wait
till the moment the problem happens again (it happens randomly and not very
often) and send you dmesg.log just after the first reboot.
I'll switch the effects off in order to check if I the error is the same or
not. If it is, I'll send you the result of the script you told me.
Thanks for your help.

2007-04-28 Thread Jorge García
Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. I'm reviewing the logs in /var/log and I
don't find any significant error. The mouse works but the keyboard is totally
frozen. I'll try to find any aditional clue.
Regards and thanks in advance for your help.
