This is the file I captured from the spool for the previous exemple. I
tried to capture the file from the spool when printing the Print test
page, but this option is not available when the printer is disabled.

[Bug 1023202] [NEW] Canon printer don't print black circles in the print test page

2012-07-10 Thread Marc G.
Public bug reported:

I have a Canon i560 installed on an ubuntu 12.04. When I print the print
test page, the ubuntu brand name which is black and the black circles
don't appear. But the black text in the lower part and the black frame
does appear. I can supply a scanned image of the printed sheet if
needed.

When I print from acrobat reader or from google chrome, the resulting page miss
black text (some text appear, other won't). Printing from LibreOffice or
Firefox work well. The configuration of the printer should be ok since I'm able
to print correctly from LibreOffice and firefox. I configured the printer in
CMYK mode, but alos I tried to print the test page in all different color mode:
Greyscale : printing is ok, all test circles appear (in greyscale of course).
RGB : wrong colors, the black circles appears in a very light brown
CMY : good colors, the black circles appears in a very light brown
KCMY or CMYK : good colors, no black circles.

I never had any problem with previous version but I'm not sure the
problem appeared with the upgrade to 12.04 or later. I also tried to
print the print test page with another computer on ubuntu 12.04 and I
had the same problem. Printing from windows works well.

Thank you.

[Bug 478365] Re: No sound when volume control is set at a low level on Karmic

2010-04-24 Thread Marc G.
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

With gnome-volume-control, it's possible to select the volume output I
want between 15% and 100%. When the seound volume is set below 15 %,
there is no sound. The problem is that the sound at 16 % is too loud.

The solution given in Bug #420578 in comment 8 stops the behavior :
replacing all instance of volume = merge with volume = ignore in
  /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output.conf*. But this
solution cause the login sound to be very loud whatever was the sound
  level in the last session.

[Bug 478365] Re: No sound when volume control is set at a low level on Karmic

2010-04-24 Thread Marc G.
The bug is still present in 10.04RC, tested with a LiveCD. So I did an
apport-collect. I will try it with the latest upstream kernel when I'll
have more time.

the problem but the sound is still very loud at log on.

[Bug 134080] Re: CIFS: Navigating directories in DFS shares buggy

2010-01-04 Thread Marc G.
I installed the package keyutils and founded that the two lines were
already present in /etc/request-key.

But the installation of keyutils resolved my problem, now I'm able to
access to a Windows DFS share in command line. Thanks a lot !

p.s. mounting directly in nautilus is still buggy.

[Bug 185986] Re: WebDAV extremely slow

2009-11-16 Thread Marc G.
The bug is still present in Karmic 9.10. Mounting a webdav share in
command line works well but navigating in it is very slow (when using ls
or autocompletion, and nautilus is almost unusable). Mounting the share
directly in nautilus (the graphical way) improve things a lot (it's as
fast as in windows) but I can't copy a folder (I get a html file in the
destination).

[Bug 480042] [NEW] option GRUB_DEFAULT=SAVED doesn't work

2009-11-10 Thread Marc G.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

I selected in /etc/default/grub the option GRUB_DEFAULT=saved so that
the grub menu will automatically select the last menu entry that have
succesfully booted. After doing an update-grub, the option doesn't work,
the first menu entry (#0) is always selected by default.

For information, I have a separate partion for /boot.

[Bug 478365] [NEW] No sound when volume control is set at a low level on Karmic

2009-11-08 Thread Marc G.
Public bug reported:

With gnome-volume-control, it's possible to select the volume output I
want between 15% and 100%. When the seound volume is set below 15 %,
there is no sound. The problem is that the sound at 16 % is too loud.

The solution given in Bug #420578 in comment 8 stops the behavior :
replacing all instance of volume = merge with volume = ignore in
/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output.conf*. But this
solution cause the login sound to be very loud whatever was the sound
level in the last session.

[Bug 360975] Re: Please add nf_conntrack_pptp and nf_conntrack_netbios_ns to IPT_MODULES

2009-11-07 Thread Marc G.
I also had to add nf_conntrack_netbios_ns to /etc/default/ufw to be able
to browse windows share on the network. It would be more user friendly
if it was enabled by default. It's not enough too enable it only on
smbfs install since it's possible to access a samba share via nautilus
if ufw is disabled.

[Bug 134080] Re: CIFS: Navigating directories in DFS shares buggy

2009-11-03 Thread Marc G.
I had a similar problem (see duplicate Bug #320212). I tested with the
final release of Karmic and the problem is still present.

I can mount the windows share with :
sudo mount.cifs //192.168.2.15/data /mnt/data -o
user=workgroup/username,uid=marc,gid=marc

I can see folders in the share but I can't access them, I get the error
resource temporarily unavailable. I can unmount the share without any
problem.

With Jaunty, I was able to access the share with nautilus, but with
Karmic it's no longer possible. The only way to access the share is
using smbclient which work perfectly.

[Bug 458720] [NEW] suspend button makes karmic hibernates

2009-10-22 Thread Marc G.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When I press the suspend button on my laptop, the computer goes in
hibernation mode even if I specified suspend in
System/Preferences/Power Management - general tab - when the suspend
button is pressed At resume, the suspend and hibernate options
disappear from the graphical menu (System/Shut Down).

If I make it by the graphical way (System/Shut Down/Suspend), the
computer suspend as expected and there's no problem on resume.

[Bug 350207] Re: failed to stop md devices on jaunty restart or shutdown

2009-06-26 Thread Marc G.
After installing Jaunty, I had the same problem as described there :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/71004
(a white screen after shutdown which start to darken in some area...)

I removed the 'splash' option in menu.lst but kept the 'quiet' option.
Instead of a white screen, I got the problem described in this bug by
pierreblueher and WiFi Ed. After removing the 'quiet' option, the bug
reappeared only in some rare occasion. When the computer shutdown
succesfully, I can read in the console : iwl3945: Error : Response NULL
in 'REPLY_ADD_STA'.

I have Ubuntu Jaunty with kernel 2.6.28-13 install on a Dell Inspiron
1520. As you can see in the error message, I have an intel 3945 wireless
card. I hope that can help you solving this bug.

[Bug 320212] [NEW] cannot access samba share after mount.cifs

2009-01-22 Thread Marc G.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smbfs

I can mount a windows share with this command in terminal. But when I do
'ls' in the mount directory, I get a segmentation fault. If I try to
'cd' in the same directory, the terminal crash.

I mounted the share with this command :
sudo mount.cifs //ipadress/data/Groupe /mnt/groupe/ -o username=workgroup/user
--verbose

I get : mount.cifs kernel mount options
unc=//ipadress\data,ip=192.168.2.15,domain=workgroup,pass=xx,ver=1,username=userprefixpath=Groupe

I cannot unmout after mounting, ie the mount is still listed when I type
'mount'. I get in verbose mode :
optind 2 unmount dir /mnt/groupe

Nautilus cannot mount this share either. I get an error message : No
file or folder of this type. //ipadress/data is mounted but it is empty
(no folder named Groupe).

The window share is accessible from a windows XP computer and with smbclient
with this command :
smbclient //ipadress/data/Groupe --user=workgroup/user
It is then possible to do smb: \ ls after and to see all the files in the
folder.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 and the version of smbfs is 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4

** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 44686] Re: Keyboard/mouse actions on laptop should not turn on screen with lid closed

2008-07-09 Thread Marc G.
I have exactly the same problem on a Dell Inspiron 1525. I use Ubuntu
Hardy with every package up to date.
