2013-09-11 Thread Omshivaprakash H L
Public bug reported:

Description of problem:

While I use English (India, with Rupee Sign) keyabord layout with
Kannada kn-itrans, Hindi itrans layout etc switching back to English
doesn't work. I can only type english keys by holding alt key.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

ibus = 1.5.3
gnome-shell - 3.8.4
Distribution saucy 13.10

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use English (India, with Rupee Sign) along any other m17n layout such as
Kannada itrans
2.Switch to Kannada and try to switch back to english.
3. Try to type something in editor or anywhere else you will see Kannada
appearing.

Actual results:
Keyboard switch to en (with rupee symbol) shows Kannada (if kn-itrans used)

Expected results:

It should switch back to English

Would love to see better hardware support for Huawei devices.
Esp the Huawei ets 2280 CDMA FWT phone - which works only on 7.04 and 7.10.

Currently have reverted back to 7.10 as this is the only way i can

etc. Also be sure to backup the entire system if you have a spare USB
HDD lying around. I recently upgraded and the new kernel (2.6.28-11)
refused to recognize my touchpad and causes the keyboard to stop
working after random intervals, I have reverted to the intrepid latest
kernel (2.6.27-11) filed a bug report.

Old kernels are not removed automatically. So you will still have a
working kernel in the list of kernels in grub.

Hi Aravind,

You need a good hardware for setting up the server, Internet connection with
large amount of bandwidth (atm its bit costly here in India).

This should do. Rest is little work of setting up a script on cron to sync the
files from a master server.

sure, you can add the images. I will update my team regarding this. We
did remastered Ubuntu CD to add Language support, added KGP SCIM
layouts etc which is very useful for reporters and writers who are
used to inscript layout provided in Baraha and other tools. This also
helped us to ensure that LiveCD works out-of box at the event. We
could teach them how to type in local languages on different
applications like pidgin, IRC, gEdit etc. It was useful for many
bloggers as they wanted to type in directly in local languges while
blogging even when they are on Linux.

Is there any one else out there trying to remaster Ubuntu to meet the
local requirements? I would be glad to discuss more on this so that we
can reach out people while they use Linux and provide what they want
in the ISO/CD.
