[Bug 1695651] Re: GNOME Weather: "Forecast not available"

Khursid, thanks for the reply. > Newer version Ubuntu doesn't support amd gpu The link says: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS (Linux kernel 3.13.0), Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and later For the most recent ATI/AMD graphic cards supported by the Radeon driver, DPM (Dynamic Power Management) should work automatically without additional steps. Where does it say no support of amd gpu? And if, would that actually mean one needs to buy a different brand of graphics card? Referring to bug reports, I experienced no crashes, no segfaults, no compiz issues, nothing disappeared e.g. the launcher, only this broken graphics only on Unity items, as my last screenshot was supposed to show. As mentioned in the opening post, other applications like Nautilus or anything else except Unity items are fine. Referring to your other suggestions and the link to 'ask ubuntu' these are quote: "Following info is obsolete" And this bug report says the mesa issue is fixed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1735594 Xorg.log was already attached when uploading the bug report. In addition the already uploaded file apt-history says: libegl1-mesa:amd64 (17.2.4-0ubuntu1~16.04.4, 17.2.8-0ubuntu0~16.04.1) Thank you, but I don't need performance tweaks, I'd rather like this bug to be fixed. Thanks for the reply, icon theme is awoken, but that doesn't matter I've tested others and nothing changed. Actually the issues only ocur with Unity parts, for example also the logout, shutdown dialogs are puzzled black and white. But Nautilus and other applications are looking fine. There have been updates of radeon driver, unity and compiz, I'm not hundred percent sure, but the broken panel occured after unity and compiz updates. ** Attachment added: "apt-history" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1750583/+attachment/5059816/+files/apt-history -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750583 Title: Broken panel and launcher - all black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1750583/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1692235] [NEW] Syntax error in .postinst - broken package
Public bug reported: Apport doesn't allow the upload, because it's a known error. Since I never had an issue I'd like to report the multiple syntax errors in the .postinst file of grub-pc. Terminal output excerpt: sudo apt upgrade 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. 1 not fully installed or removed. Setting up grub-pc (2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.10) ... /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-pc.postinst: line 703: syntax error near unexpected token `fi' dpkg: error processing package grub-pc (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 Errors were encountered while processing: grub-pc E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) I've started to fix grub-pc.postinst step by step, because after removing the 'fi' in line 703 there occur more and more til line 740, e.g. semicolons, brackets and at the end it says unexpected end of file, which I was unable to fix, original it says exit 0. I've tried several inputs, looked at examples of other .postinst files, but nothing worked. Renaming /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-pc.postinst and reinstalling grub-pc didn't help. dpkg --configure -a and dpkg-reconfigure didn't help. It would be nice if someone could fix the syntax. Reopen. Few minutes ago complete freeze again. Nothing works except hard power off. Every time there is chromium open and firefox closed. Firefox freezes only itself, but not the whole system. Yesterday, I stressed with two chromium profiles, one had 20 tabs open, the other watching videos. [Bug 1643341] Re: Unexpected shutdown
Tested Zesty daily and the fan started immediately after boot. When I do nothing the system shuts down shortly after it enters the desktop. But I found out following: I can reproduce it with Zesty daily and Xenial 4.4.0-57.78 kernel. The fan is on after boot. As soon as I enter the Desktop, I press FN+F12 which puts the system in sleep mode and the fan stops. (In German the manual translates it with "toggle energy savings mode", in English it says "sleep toggle".) After a waiting moment I press the power button, it enters the desktop (in Xenial after login) and the fan doesn't start again, System works fine. Obviously kernel 4.9.0-040900rc6 does not trigger this. After a cold start it proceeds without ever running the fan and shutdown. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643341 Title: Unexpected shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1643341/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1445829] Re: No video playback possible - side pane empty
Hi Nicolas, the ppa version works fine. The video list is now instantly displayed after opening totem, maybe it was the cache, the computer wasn't in use for a while. The Arte website is not slow, I'm able to watch movies flawless via firefox. I assume it was correct to remove the totem-plugin-arte before installing it from the ppa. When the patched totem-plugin-arte is back in Ubuntu repo I need to remove the one from ppa before installing it, right? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445829 Title: No video playback possible - side pane empty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem-plugin-arte/+bug/1445829/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 934189] Re: desktop focus interferes with conky
@#15 many thanks for this workaround. Finally the desktop is focused as expected. ** Description changed: Have conky specs: own_window yes own_window_class Conky own_window_type normal own_window_transparent yes own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager Open an application (e.g. gedit or system-settings) and close it again, desktop doesn't automatically take focus. User needs to left click on conky window to focus desktop in order to invoke shortcuts to switch workspaces (ctrl+alt+arrow) or alt+f2. own_window_type desktop doesn't help. Alternativeley open and close the dash with super allows shortcuts to switch workspaces. After latest updates above workarounds don't help any longer.
