[Bug 989258] [NEW] hud- and unity-service increase memory usage and freeze firefox
Public bug reported: This is a follow-up of bug 964893. Increased memory usage does not occur on guest account and not on laptop, both don't have compiz cube setup. There is again a ~2 GB increase of memory usage when opening hud on firefox full screen mode. Firefox isn't responsible for ~2 min. When it all (cpu, mem) settled switch to another workspace open e.g. gnome-system-monitor and close it again. Switching back to the workspace where firefox is will immediately increase memory of firefox, hud- and unity-service. Workaround is to kill HUD by pid which will settle everything to normal values. After recent unity updates there is a worse case example of g-c-c UI and it's components. Afaik and in fact HUD appears with Alt-key. [Bug 819994] Re: String length of items seems limited (system settings label get truncated)
Sebastien, of course it's customized, pc has a larger size monitor than my laptop. On laptop the font size is 11 but the window itself is way too large it almost uses half of the desktop. The ccsm window is resizable and looks fine in any mode or font size. Why do I need to defend or explain a custom setup anyway? Do we talk about font size or a compiled kernel here? Please don't mix cause and effect. The user didn't break the UI - developers did. Thus I'd like to ask developers if they have an idea to fix the issue. Imho the solution is to revert incomprehensible decisions like windows shouldn't be resizable. Or are developers telling us, don't customize your font size, no matter which monitor, you're doomed to select 8-10 font size otherwise try accessibility features? Fine, then they should say so loud, so users know, this DE isn't one which should be customized, otherwise it may become useless. Then why font-selector has an option to resize larger than 10 in the first place if anything above 10 can make an UI unuseable? Sounded pretty realistic in the past. ... however each user has different preferences. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/font-selector No answer yet there. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=649242#c16 Window size mandatory. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=666000 Example how perfect it looks when using smaller font size. [Bug 926368] Re: Ugly menu overlays without distinction
Panel transparency vs black text overlay is due to enabled 'no blur'. To make the black text menu vanish fast it needs adjusting of fade options to a minium value in order not to disturb too long. [Bug 966448] Re: Dash (no blur) renders black stripes while scrolling
Unduped from bug 941066. Reason: - the issue hasn't be seen here before 5.8 - disagree with 'Desired resolution' It is not desired to have a black aka tinted dash. Expected is an option to disable the mourning dress. IIRC there was the ability of dash to blur the background colour which disappeared, maybe it could be considered as a compromise option if transparency isn't desired by design. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966448 Title: Dash (no blur) renders black stripes while scrolling To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/966448/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
