[Bug 574840] Re: Epiphany Unable To Resolve Host

2010-05-05 Thread Virgil Brummond
Sorry for taking so long. I cannot lock down a page it might be, it
seems at random. DNS seems logical, I should note that this issue is not
present in Epiphany on Debian Sid or Firefox on the same Lucid install.
If I click to try again loading it usually always works. Any way I can
debug this?

[Bug 559109] Re: Two notification bubbles at the same time

2010-04-11 Thread Virgil Brummond
This happens to me as well, when there is only one notification it
flickers from the top left to the proper position on the top right.
However if there is two notifications, one appears on the top left, and
does not disappear when the mouse moves over it. I can click through it
though. After the first notification times out the second one moves back
to the proper position and functions like normal.

[Bug 542360] Re: pulseaudio only lowers volume when below 15%

The volume = ignore workaround does not work for me. Same behavior with
the internal speakers. The headphones always work fine either case when

unmute when I change the headphone volume, which is actually a fix from
Karmic.

[Bug 555566] [NEW] Pidgin - Aim File Transfer Fails

2010-04-05 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I am using Lucid, and Pidgin is operating on the default settings. I am
attempting to send a file to another user on Aim. When I send the file
the transfer shows up fine. When the user on the other side chooses to
accept it the file transfer is reported to have 'failed'. From my end it
shows up as: NameOfUser cancelled the transfer of Filename.ext

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04

[Bug 555595] [NEW] Firefox Slows Down Compiz

2010-04-05 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Desktop effects are noticeably slower while Firefox is open. My display
adapter is an integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M. I
tested this using the built in Benchmark plug-in.

When Firefox is not running I get a solid 60fps (vsync is enable I
believe). Having a few GTK+ applications (such as nautilus, gedit.. etc)
open does not slow the frame rate even when running the expo plug-in.
Running Firefox causes a noticeable slowdown in the expo plug-in and
desktop switching. The frame rate drops to 30fps and below and feels
choppy.

I have not modified the configuration of either compiz or my intel
driver. I am running Lucid on AMD64. This occurs on both the Generic and
the Preempt kernels.

[Bug 554989] [NEW] Lucid - Go Home Applet cause X to restart - Reproducible

2010-04-04 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: go-home-applet

Might be some kind of obscure configuration bug. The netbook-launcher
was not in the list to automatically start on login, so I added it
manually in Startup Applications. After a restart, the netbook-launcher
runs just fine. When I click the go-home-applet, my X server instantly
crashes and sends me to the GDM screen. I am not running the Netbook
Edition but the Desktop with the netbook launcher and go-home-applet
installed via synaptic.

I will wait for any requests for debugging information before I try the
following! However I think if I delete the configuration files related
to the netbook-launcher and the go-home-applet the issue will be
resolved. Once I do so I will report my findings. The applet worked on
the first use, but not after a reboot.

What should have happened: Hiding all windows and showing the netbook-launcher.
What happened instead: The X server crashed.

[Bug 542360] Re: pulseaudio only lowers volume when below 15%

2010-03-21 Thread Virgil Brummond
The tweak to change the mixer to use solely alsa PCM fixes the issue I
describe, however it adds another. When I manually change the volume it
stutters badly. Sometimes it will randomly garble for a split second.
The other tweak to add dB=1 has no effect.

[Bug 543271] [NEW] Stellarium Graphical Glitches On Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller

2010-03-21 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: stellarium

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid on AMD64. My display adapter is a Mobile 4
Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller.

When starting Stellarium I can see the interface and sky fine except the
stars are not rendered. I have verified that they are supposed to be
visible, and I am using the default settings. The program runs fine
otherwise.

What I expected to happen: Seeing the stars rendered in the sky.
What happened instead: A blank sky with lighting effects and milky way.

This happens to me using Lucid on an Intel 4500m. The screen flickers
and briefly displays lines at rare but random times. Generally only
occurs on the bottom left or the entire right side. It might be a
Compositing related issue, I will try running sans Compiz and confirm.

No, this is not a compiz issue. The screen flicked while running

[Bug 541925] [NEW] Running lshw cause display glitches using xserver-xorg-video-intel

2010-03-19 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Using Lucid

When I run 'sudo lshw -C display' the display immediately becomes
garbled. The colors are incorrect and blurry, with many multicolor
lines. This occurs using both the 2.9 driver in main and a 2.10 driver
in a PPA.

As a possibly related side note, Urban Terror fails to run on this
version only. Ubuntu Karmic and Debian Sid both run, but on Lucid I am
dropped to a console upon loading the main menu.

[Bug 542343] [NEW] gnome-panel will not autostart on lucid

2010-03-19 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

After the latest updates on Lucid, I rebooted. When logging in I found
my gnome panel did not start, though Compiz and Nautilus did. Doing a
dpkg-reconfigure or resetting preferences did not fix the issue. A
workaround is to add a launcher for gnome-panel on the desktop, and
clicking it at login. If you need any information please ask.

[Bug 542360] [NEW] pulseaudio only lowers volume when below 15%

2010-03-19 Thread Virgil Brummond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

The pulseaudio volume control applet does not change the volume level at
all (it remains loud) until the slider is around 15%. Then it will lower
the sound in the four steps it takes to hit 0%, then it mutes just fine.
It seems that the slider Master Front hits zero at around 15%, then
the Front slider actually controls the volume. I can obtain more
information, please tell me what you need.

I expected the volume to become progressively quieter as the bar goes
down, however it does not change until 15% as was said.
