Re: [Bug 301755] Re: Crackling noise after update to pulseaudio

2009-06-02 Thread aenertia
I resolved the issue by adding the ppa for the most recent release then:

apt-get remove pulseaudio

rm -rf /etc/pulse*

rm ~/.pulse*

apt-get install pulseaudio ubuntu-desktop

2009/6/3 TotoKid toto...@gmail.com

ag3r, I actually gave up on pulseaudio but I'm aware many people tried
different settings and got it working. In fact, it's a matter of
settings. I'll give it some tries when I'll have some spare time and
hope we'll have our X-Fi working soon with pulse! :P

2009-05-25 Thread aenertia
i've fixed by using alien to unpack fix the leading / in front of the
preint script. And changed back to a deb with alien. However because
this package is refered to by metapackages (including standard and
ubuntu-desktop) it causes these to fail as they rely on the signed
package and overwrite my commited.

Can someone package and sign and push to the repository a fixed version
asap. Currently this breaks upgrades and net-installs of karmic

[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.

2009-02-09 Thread aenertia
I have this issue, it appears to be caused by Network manager not being
able to cope with previously defined debian interface files.

I saw this for the first time when upgrading/installing via net-
installer to jaunty. lspci, lshal and nm-tool info attached . my
/etc/network/interfaces is just auto eth0 etc defaults as created by
deb-installer.

Only weird thing about my network is that I run ipv6 along side .( which
on a side note the deb-installer does not support)

Re: [Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.

2009-02-09 Thread aenertia
Actually this is not a firefox / nm interaction issue at all ( I have seen
this one, and know how to work around it).

It is purely network-manager failing to correctly manage network devices. It
is more an issue of not having populated device entries correctly and then
not being able to manage them through the various gui tools.

not just a FF issue.

2009/2/10 Tom Pino metalsm...@rangeweb.net

An easier solution, if your FF3 is updated to current, is to type
about:config in a blank tab. Click OK to the scary message. Type
 tool in the filter line.

You will find the below one ending in false. click on the line to
change to true. This is not a FF problem but they found a fix for it
and it is an easy one for Hardy and Intrepid.

 toolkit.networkmanager.disable;true

[Bug 141613] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV

2008-03-29 Thread aenertia
This bug is a bit more severe on laptops. Because it puts continual
background strain on processors it leads to very high running temps but
otherwise a responsive system. users who are unaware of the problem risk
hardware failure or at least decrease lifetime.

For example on my core2 7400 it will cause a proc that runs normally
around the 50C mark to sit at 60-70C and sometimes rise to 80C this will
cause battery, harddrive and other component to have signf shorter
lifetimes.

[Bug 204986] [NEW] Suspend/hibernate works from gnome-power-management applet, but not from gnome logout menu.

2008-03-22 Thread aenertia
Public bug reported:

Suspending using the gnome logout menu does not return from resume.

On resume hdd activity etc all work, and screen backlight comes on. But
system appears locked (no led indicator on capslock key press).

This does not happen when suspend is invoked from gnome-power-manager
applet tray icon.

Believe is related to compiz as even when resuming from tray, screen is
corrupted, and the password lock box is obscured (moving mouse cursor
around turns to text cursor, and inputing password to unlock returns
system to normal state).

2007-12-03 Thread aenertia
Confirmed behaviour in fedora 8, on dell xps m1210 with both 80gb
hitachi and 120gb seagate. On resume drive aggressively spins down.

Fix:

add 99-hdd-spin-fix.sh

to

/etc/pm/config.d
/etc/pm/sleep.d
/etc/pm/power.d

where 99-hdd-spin-fix.sh

Contains the lines:

#!/bin/sh
hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda

Where /dev/sda is the effected disc.

** Changed in: acpi-support (Fedora)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

[Bug 153319] Re: trackerd always use 100% CPU

2007-11-28 Thread aenertia
I get both issues appearing, 100% usage and massive index.

I mount nfs shares in my home dir ;-/ it's the only place many people
are allowed to mount things on multiuser systems. However it seems that
trackerd should default to not crossing filesystems by default.

I have not touched ANY configuration for this program. Just standard
