[Bug 703301] Re: npviewer.bin uses too much cpu

2011-03-03 Thread booxter
I have the same problem on open-source radeon driver with dri rendering
working ok, Ubuntu 10.10. So it seems like this bug doesn't depend on
video driver used (nvidia used by original reporter, radeon is on mine
machine).

F.e. on page: http://news.tut.by/tv/217001.html I get 60-70% CPU load
(Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.40GHz) and high fan activity and quite hot laptop
surface.

[Bug 546785] Re: Changing keyboard layout in control-center should update default gdm layout in .dmrc

2011-02-27 Thread booxter
I don't think this should be respected in any way - that seems like the
right behavior for user session settings: user gconf settings should
*replace* gdm settings, not *merge* with gdm one. What do you think?

Laptop is still suspended if lid is closed but it seems like being an
unrelated bug with gnome-power-manager behavior (it assumes lid close is
an explicit user suspend request like clicking Suspend in session menu.

[Bug 284319] Re: mute, brightness buttons on new HP 6930p laptop

2011-02-26 Thread booxter
Tried all this stuff on latest Ubuntu 10.10 and Elitebook 6930p. Most of
these problems went away already. Here is what still doesn't work for me
very well:

1. Hardware mute button actually mutes/unmutes internal speakers though
sound mixer applet is not updated properly. Though when muting/unmuting
sound with GUI, hardware mute button indicator properly reflects the
changes.

2. Hardware mute button doesn't do anything for external speakers.
Though when muting/unmuting sound with GUI, sound from external speakers
properly reflects the changes.

I think we can rephrase the bug dropping mention about brightness since
everything related to this functionality works like a charm.

2011-02-26 Thread booxter
Same here: Ubuntu 10.10, preallocation makes system less responsive.
Could we consider an option to allocate disk segments on demand? That
way we would stretch the allocation task to the full time of download
which should be less visible from the point of user's view.

[Bug 531173] Re: New Lucid keyboard layout indicator does not indicate current layout

I don't need all these indicator-applets icons like

gnome-volume-applet 'just works'). If you don't want us to use standard
well-known g-s-d keyboard applet, could you please provide us with a

[Bug 311834] [NEW] QtSql module should provide Firebird (Interbase) driver too

[Bug 309822] [NEW] /var/lib/locales/supported.d/be file needs some changes

2008-12-19 Thread booxter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: language-pack-be-base

As for now (Intrepid) this file contains the following strings:
be_BY.UTF-8 UTF-8
be...@latin UTF-8

Belarusian Latin community needs some change for this file because somehow this
(abbreviated) form of locale name - be...@latin is a cause for some problems
(especially in Python programs, see: http://bugs.python.org/issue2178). We
should have the following contents in it:
be_BY.UTF-8 UTF-8
be_by.ut...@latin UTF-8

Programs functionality problems occur, among others, in gnochm, gajim. I
wish this little fix will be released ASAP.

[Bug 110581] Re: strange behavior and system hangs after a few minutes after resume form hibernation on hp compaq nx7400

2008-05-15 Thread booxter
I have no such problem. I used vanilla linux-2.6.25.2.tar.bz2 tarball, copied
/boot/config-2.6.24-16-generic to .config, made make oldconfig (just pressed
Enter on all the questions), then built it - and here it is!
I think the difference maybe be the result of our different nx7400
configuration. I have a Pentium M version, not Core Duo processor in it.

Hey, guys, this bug is 2 years old. Why don't you just fix it? Ubuntu is
already utf8-only system! Can we make utf8 by default? Sometimes when I
help other people to convert to Linux it's quite annoying to tell them
please edit /etc/fstab and add utf8 keyword there. It's not what a new
user expect of a brand new OS on his desktop/laptop.

[Bug 159402] Ubuntu uses old Locations.xml file for gweather panel applet

2007-11-01 Thread booxter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

It seems that Ubuntu uses some kind of old Locations.xml file for
gweather applet (located in /usr/share/gnome-
applets/gweather/Locations.xml). At least it doesn't use new Belarusian
Latin translations of location names ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) that was introduced in
GNOME 2.18. So our Belarusian Latin users can't see results of l10n

[Bug 157654] No Belarusian Latin locale generated

2007-10-27 Thread booxter
Public bug reported:

There is a new l10n effort made in Belarusian l10n community - translation of
GNOME and other packages into Belarusian Latin ([EMAIL PROTECTED] locale).
Though even when Byelorussian language is chosed in Language Selector and
appropriate packages with gettext files are installed, there is no [EMAIL
PROTECTED] locale generated and that's why a user can't use this language
variant for Ubuntu UI. After some investigation, I found that to use it a
person should edit /var/lib/locales/supported.d/be to be like that:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /var/lib/locales/supported.d/be
be_BY.UTF-8 UTF-8
[EMAIL PROTECTED] UTF-8
[EMAIL PROTECTED] UTF-8
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
and then run sudo locale-gen to reflect the changes. This kind of changes
should be done automatically after Byelorussian language is chosen in Language
Selector.
PS: And we should also fix bug #119122 too I think.

Aleś, I understand you angriness and also think that this bug could be fixed in
10 minutes. It's not the problem to spend so much time for waiting the
resolution. Anyway, I think we should stay polite and wait for Ubuntu

For Ubunters: please resolve this little bug quicker: Ales Navicki worked
hardly to make as much Gnome translations to go with Ubuntu 7.04 as he could,
and now he sees that his hard work at night is not what Ubuntu developers like
to see in official releases.
