[Bug 1513567] Re: [SRU] There is no executable in this package

2016-10-10 Thread mtb-cliff
I finally got it to work by first performing:
sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove gwakeonlan
and then deleting /usr/local/bin/gwakeonlan
then reinstalling the v051 from
http://www.muflone.com/gwakeonlan/english/download.html#tabs|Tabs_Group_name:Tab_v051
 via gdebi.

However, when I run this version it doesn't use the files from
~/.config/gwakeonlan

[Bug 450465] Re: Mounted ipod is not recognized by hal

2010-03-15 Thread mtb-cliff
This problem applies to me as well. gtkpod will not recognize the
device, but rhythmbox does - but rhythmbox does not load videos. I'm
running Karmic Koala with latest updates. It is on a different machine
than this one so I don't have any diagnostic output - but the symptoms
are the same as above. I tried podsleuth from the repo, and it provided
the same error as the one Matteo Rossi indicated.

Re: [Bug 450853] Re: [i945] Screen goes unresponsive on Intel 945 Chipset

2010-03-04 Thread mtb-cliff
Hi Bryce, an error was generated when I tried using Update manager after
adding in the PPA.

Bryce Harrington wrote:
 [This is an automatic notification.]

Thanks for reporting this bug to help making the Intel graphics driver
better. We hear from upstream that a number of bugs (possibly including
this one) have been fixed in the newer DRM code from the 2.6.33 kernel.
I don't know if your bug is one of the ones fixed in this release,
though, but we've prepared a PPA with this DRM update. Would you mind
installing this, rebooting, and testing if the original issue can be
 reproduced with it or not?

 The DRM PPA is here:

 https://edge.launchpad.net/~apw/+archive/red

Note there could be new bugs... please file these as new reports using
the command 'ubuntu-bug linux' (for kernel or DRM or KMS bugs) or
'ubuntu-bug xorg' if you suspect them to be X.org issues.

I performed the downgrade. It didn't work well at all. On my user id it
seemed ok, however, on my wife's user id the screen would not refresh in
certain areas - like applications windows, switch user, main desktop
when applications would launch. Basically it was unusable so I reverted
back to the repo versions...

[Bug 509410] [NEW] Display, Keyboard and Mouse unresponsive - i915?

2010-01-18 Thread mtb-cliff
Public bug reported:

Several minutes after the Display goes to sleep the keyboard and mouse
will no longer wake up the Display even though the computer has not
moved to suspend mode. This previously worked until I updated the system
(from approximately Jan.7,2010) to present (Jan.18,2010).

Was burning DVD using Brasero prior to system issue.

Trying to restart GDM does not work. I can connect via NX Client, but
not via VNC.

Since the Keyboard is non-functional, I can not switch to a new terminal
nor perform any magic keys to reset the system.

Using the Log File Viewer and checking:
Messages indicates: i915 and XOrg call back traces.

I copied as much of the log file view (LogFileView.log) as I thought
were needed as well as those indicated to be required.

I have downgraded Xorg as indicated at the end of the LogFileView.log
under DOWNGRADED.

I am hoping it works

Re: [Bug 49613] Re: [MASTER] Adobe Flash does not support WMODE (Flash content always rendered on top of web pages)

2009-02-12 Thread mtb-cliff
Works for me as well. I previously had issues, but that was due to the
fixes that I had in for the earlier releases of the Flash player
plugin. However, after I edited the mms.cfg in /etc/adobe it works fine.
I am running 10.0 r15 as well in Ubuntu 8.04 with FF 3.06.

Just out of curiousity, are you running NoScript as a FF Plugin and
AdBlock Plus? If so, please check the settings to ensure that you are
allowing the site.

Witold Mamczarz wrote:
Check in Firefox which plugin it uses. Should be Shockwave Flash 10.0 r15.
If it is possible you have another else plugin installed.

The site seems be showed correctly. (Ubuntu 8.04, firefox 3.06)

 Hi Alexander,

Nothing in /etc/adobe (dir doesn't exist)

its happening on multiple sites, but off the top of my head:

www.nashuamobile.com - the dropdown menu items just above the
blackberry flash ad (such as y...@nashuamobile,Phones etc.).

 Thanks!

[Bug 49613] Re: [MASTER] Adobe Flash does not support WMODE (Flash content always rendered on top of web pages)

2009-02-04 Thread mtb-cliff
Scratch my last comment. I still had the /etc/adobe/mms.cfg file in
place. As soon as I commented out the WindowlessDisable=True everything
worked as it supposed to work.

[Bug 49613] Re: [MASTER] Adobe Flash does not support WMODE (Flash content always rendered on top of web pages)

2009-02-03 Thread mtb-cliff
I agree that this is still an issue with FF3.0.5 and Adobe Flash 10.0
r15 in that the flash overlays cover up the DHTML. The funny things is
that you can see the DHTML being rendered and then the Flash covers it
up. It is especially noticeable at teh following airmiles.ca site:

www.airmiles.ca and the rewards link:
https://www.airmiles.ca/arrow/RewardsHome?selectedCategoryId=cat670016

[Bug 226279] Re: Kernel 2.6.24-17 - broken resume from suspend to RAM

2008-06-08 Thread mtb-cliff
No luck. Same activity. I noticed something different. I tried going to
terminal using ALT-F2 and trying to start gdm manually using sudo
/etc/init.d/gdm restart and so long as I was in the non-X11 session, my
Caps Lock key would light. As soon as I switched to ALT-F7, I lost the
Caps Lock key (and entire keyboard - can't use sysreq r,s,b to recover).

[Bug 226279] Re: Kernel 2.6.24-17 - broken resume from suspend to RAM

2008-06-07 Thread mtb-cliff
Hi Folks, I just ran in to this thread. I am running on a Toshiba A210
using the generic kernel (restricted drivers for the wireless
{ndiswrapper} and the ATI chipset). I tried using the -19 kernel with
modules and LRM. rebooted and invoked suspend (from menu). Resume did
not work. following from the syslog file. I don't know if there is
something different than the issue that is in this thread.

Jun 7 22:38:33 laptop kernel: [ 33.445269] Attempting manual resume
Jun 7 22:38:33 laptop kernel: [ 33.445273] swsusp: Resume From Partition 8:6
Jun 7 22:38:33 laptop kernel: [ 33.445275] PM: Checking swsusp image.
Jun 7 22:38:33 laptop kernel: [ 33.445757] PM: Resume from disk failed.

I am going to attempt again, but using update manager (only selecting
linux* and pm-utils) to see if it improves my luck.

[Bug 116514] Re: Screen extends beyond physical edges of monitor

2007-10-28 Thread mtb-cliff
I still have the problem on Gutsy (7.10) upgraded via Gnome Update
Manager: where mode 1680 x 1050 extends horizontally off the screen -
seemingly in one direction only, i.e. the left side is off screen but
still active as you can select menu item if you know where they are
located. I have not gone back to try the 915resolution fix as it didn't
provide any relief previously. I had previously (Feisty - 7.04) tried
the same guide as Jurica identifies above. If desired I can put it back
in to this mode and attach the Xorg.o.log.

Cliff.
