The bugging patch is /debian/patches-

[Bug 366025] [NEW] Ubuntu Netbook Remix should be available for LPIA

2009-04-24 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
Public bug reported:

A lot of people are actually confused when wanting to install ubuntu netbook
remix as they need a LPIA iso and UNR is only available as i386.
Most of them will install MID and then install the ubuntu-netbook-remix
package. But we should just have an LPIA version of the UNR img. Especially
that the repository for LPIA is already up and running for jaunty...

On ubuntu.com when downloading the UNR img it says What do I need to
install Ubuntu Netbook Remix? and below that it says An Intel Atom
processor. This gives more confusion because then you download an i386
image...

UNR is not fully optimized for netbooks without lpia support. LPIA is
one of the main features specific to netbooks and shouldn't be ignored.

[Bug 365633] [NEW] DVD+RW PHILIPS PBDV824DP not detected by nautilus and is not mountable

2009-04-23 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
Public bug reported:

After installing Jaunty, I cannot access my cdrom drive from nautilus or any

I cannot mount it manually and 'cdrecord -scanbus' returns 'no found media'. I

didn't make any hardware changes.

[Bug 318942] Re: no sound from speakers on HP Mini 1000 (hda-intel, IDT 92HD75B2X5)

2009-04-20 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
Sound Finally working! :)

Okay, thanks to sedd, I thought: maybe I should use module-assistant and
compile the alsa-source package, and so I did that and rebooted and it
worked.

So here's the proper workaround for my HP Mini 1000 (1120NR) (without
any manual compiling needed!):

* Add my team's ppa from https://launchpad.net/~minichoco-team/+archive/ppa
* sudo apt-get update
* sudo apt-get upgrade
* sudo apt-get install alsa-source module-assistant
* (optional) edit /etc/alsa/alsa-source.conf on line 11 you must have
ALSA_CARDS=hda-intel and this will reduce the compile time.
* sudo m-a a-i alsa-source # this will build and install automagically the
audio card drivers
* sudo reboot

No need to modify /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.
This *might* need to be compiled again if there is a kernel update.

Then open the sound properties, unmute Speaker.
You can also mute the annoying PC Beep (you have to into preferences first, and
check the pc beep box).

I just installed daily lpia alternate iso (as of april 20th) + ubuntu-desktop,
and still no sound on the hp mini 1120NR.
I ported debian packages for alsa 1.0.19 to ubuntu on a ppa

1120NR but it doesn't fix the problem (using any 'options snd-hda-intel' above).
Still no sound.

[Bug 354226] Re: Jaunty lpia hd-media kernel fails on dell mini 9

2009-04-04 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
I confirm this for the HP Mini 1000 (1120NR with SSD drive) with the
alternate lpia ISO.

The kernel module necessary to recognize SSD drives isn't loaded as it is not
available on the ISO.
This is a regression from previous iso for 8.10.
The Jaunty MID Live CD has the module and works fine with the SSD drive.
I think the kernel module name is: ssb

I believe this bug only affects Ubuntu, not usb-creator nor the dell
mini project.

[Bug 355376] [NEW] Ubuntu 9.04 lpia alternate CD does not contain module support for SSD or USB sticks

2009-04-04 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
Public bug reported:

The ISO named ubuntu-9.04-beta-alternate-lpia.iso doesn't contain module
support for usb sticks and SSD's.
My SSD drive is not detected by the debian-installer and is not listed in
mount, neither is my USB Stick used for the USB.

This is a *regression* from the ISO for 8.10 which worked FINE.

I believe the module needed for the SSD is ssb.

There is no ethernet connection made so this is hard to transmit any
information to attach to this bug report but I'll copy most of it
manually. Tell me if you need specific information. I'll also try with
the new daily iso.

/cdrom is empty.
The lsusb command is not found.

I tried to hibernate but the laptop turned off, I think, because when I turned

2009-04-02 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
I confirm what cocoknight said. It worked fine in Ubuntu 8.10 using the
8.10 lpia alternate iso and then installing ubuntu-desktop (just needed
to change some volumes in the mixers).

Here's what I tried so far, with NO SUCCESS:
- options snd-hda-intel model=ref to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
- using the ppa (given above) which updated libasound2, libasound2-plugins,
libtotem-plparser12
- using module-assistant, compiling alsa-source. It just added more choices in
the mixer (e.g. headphone, pcm, pc beep...) I tried put them all to 100% but
still no sound (except for the loud pc beep but that may be independant).

We need to see what the regression comes from between intrepid and
jaunty. Would it come from linux-image?

[Bug 296451] Re: gnome-power-manager needs several minutes to load at startup

2009-03-14 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
This seems related to this bug:

[Bug 306935] Re: [needs-packaging] Eina

2009-03-05 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
I tried again packaging it and to change the name to eina-player but it
is harder than it seems (at least for me).

Just changing the package name in debian/changelog, debian/control doesn't work
all the way properly.
I tried making a patch with changes in configure.in and run autoreconf
--install --force, but there are still /usr/include/eina-* that can conflict.
The eina-dev (or eina-player-dev) package is mostly the problem.
This just seems that there is a lot of changes to be done in order to have a
clean installation and avoid PROPERLY any conflict with libeina in debian.

libeina (enlightenment) packages in debian:
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=eina or
http://packages.qa.debian.org/e/eina.html

I'm not familiar with this kind of case so for now, I abandon packaging
it, sorry. But I would like to work again on it if someone can guide me
for this.

Thanks for noticing this out. Looking at the maintainer's guide, it would be

[Bug 301174] Re: Annoying system beep plays instead of alert sound

2009-01-25 Thread Arnaud Weboide Soyez
I confirm this bug for Intrepid.
Gnome doesn't play any Alert Sound when everything is checked in
system-preferences-sound.

I have my internal pc speaker unplugged (because I hate it) but still have the
mod active:
$ lsmod | grep pcspkr
pcspkr 10624  0

I was looking for a way to have gnome make the beep sounds (that would be nicer
than an internal speaker!): here's the question I posted in launchpad (for

~$ inotifywait -mrq --format '%w%f' -e create -e moved_to tmp/
tmp/newdir

2008-12-29 Thread Weboide
Here's the debdiff for hardy.

Changes are only a few lines in debian/vblade.init.

Changelog:

  * Fixed debian/vblade.init: init.d script fails to start because
pid file not created properly.
Thanks to J. Bruce Fields. (LP: #223387)
  * debian/control: updated standards version to 3.8.0 (added homepage)
  * debian/control: Added Homepage

Builds fine in hardy!

This is already implemented but it's hardcoded to not use this format.

Here's the fix to change the format. This changes the Mode to Medium
instead of Long. This doesn't affect anything else.
