[Bug 1973610] [NEW] Bluetooth will not stay on or connect to devices when on

2022-05-16 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading from Ubuntu 20.10, my internal bluetooth card as well as
an external usb dongle will not work. Bluetooth starts as off, and
cannot be turned on. If I use systemctl to turn it on, it is on but
doesn't find any devices through bluez. Blueman finds devices but
cannot connect to them. The hardware on this machine has remained
identical; the only difference is the new version of Ubuntu. Hence the
problem has to be software.

[Bug 1825655] Re: do-release-upgrade fails with "Your python3 install is corrupted" if /usr/bin/python points to /etc/alternatives/python

2019-10-24 Thread wolfgang rumpf
I do have python2 installed, but my /usr/bin/python points to
/usr/bin/python3

Changing the default (/usr/bin/python) symbolic link as you suggested is
enabling me to upgrade my laptop - so I guess the problem can be ignored
for now

Yes. Tried that. Still getting the corrupt python3 error message.

I can run python3, however, it works fine. Any suggestions on how to
trouble-shoot this?

I'm experiencing the same issue as Nikita above. I have tried to
reinstall python3, I have tried replacing the symlinks, nothing has
fixed this. Help?

[Bug 1083426] [NEW] Emboss-explorer broken in 12.10

2012-11-26 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Public bug reported:

I upgraded my 12.04 system to 12.10 and emboss-explorer's menus stopped
working properly. The apps all work fine run through jumbos but that
doesn't help my students who need to access my server via that web.

Problem also occurs on a clean install of 12.10 - emboss is fine but
emboss-explorer isn't.

[Bug 732281] Re: libnucleus error in fdnapars and others after updates

2011-06-10 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Charles, I got everything to work with the files you sent me earlier.
But I'm considering moving to Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal); are all the
dependencies checked out there? I've been hesitating on the upgrade,
since once I got things working I didn't want to lose that status
again... :)

Thanks again for all your help - hope you're doing well

[Bug 732281] [NEW] libnucleus error in fdnapars and others after updates

2011-03-09 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emboss

I had a fully operational EMBOSS server with the embassy-phylip software
package added on. All worked fine until a few days ago, when I did some
software updates (e.g. Ubuntu 10.4 to 10.10 plus some security updates).
Now when I run certain apps in EMBOSS, libnucleus causes errors like
this:

fdnapars: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libnucleus.so.6: undefined
symbol: ajSeqdbInit

This has happened on two separate Ubuntu 10.10 servers I am using -
obviously the fdnapars app didn't execute at all.

Also:

apt-cache policy libnucleus6
libnucleus6:
  Installed: 6.2.0-2
  Candidate: 6.2.0-2
  Version table:
 *** 6.2.0-2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

So - how do I get fdnapars and other apps that use libnucleus to work
again? One of my boxes is an AMD-based system, the other is a Dell
Mini-10, not sure why it failed at all - it worked fine prior to the
updates.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 516690] [NEW] Empathy feature request

2010-02-03 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I receive a new message from someone on my buddy list, I'm used to
the behavior other chat systems (PC or Mac, for example) have, where the
message automatically pops open. This alerts me to the fact that there
IS a new message, much better than the current Empathy blinky thing.
I'm definitely in favor of making this a user preference - clearly you
may not *want* a message box to just pop itself open, but if I want the
behavior using a user pref to enable this would be great.

[Bug 510509] Re: Notification area is glitchy

2010-02-03 Thread wolfgang rumpf
I'm getting duplication on my system as well - if it were *only*
duplication it wouldn't be horrible! The duplicate is displayed in lieu
of another notification icon - today I have two sound icons and no
network icon. Yesterday it was power that was duplicated.

[Bug 500549] [NEW] Multiple SMTPs in evolution

2009-12-26 Thread wolfgang rumpf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am using Evolution with two separate email accounts, each with unique
SMTP servers. Problem is, regardless of which account I'm sending email
from (e.g. replying to a message from my work account), evolution will
use the SMTP server associated with the account marked as PRIMARY. This
will fail as the FROM field will not match. I want to be able to use
the appropriate server with each account.
