[ubuntu-in] unable to install ubunt 7.04 on my system
Alternate install CD is the installation CD which cannot operate as a live CD. The regular CD has dual function, it can operate both as a live CD and also as an installation CD. The regular CD requires more RAM than the alternate CD. If you are unable to get the alternate CD, than try installing from the regular CD after increasing your RAM. Re: [ubuntu-in] unable to install ubunt 7.04 on my system
Hello all, Thank you all for your suggestions. I have a new CD of ubuntu (got by requesting for on web). Before this i had downloaded the ubuntu image from ubuntu website and burnt it to a CD. Nothing seems to work out for me. Though i have other version of unix installed on my PC iam very much interested to install ubuntu. This is not happening. Iam desperate to install it and use it. I also performed disc integrity check. I did not find any errors. Is this not happening with anyone else? The installation procedure is very slow and infact iam unable to install ubuntu even if i wait patiently for more than two hours. Please help me in installing ubuntu on my PC. Thanks Pramod. It provides for the following situations: - creating pre-configured OEM systems; - setting up automated deployments; - upgrading from older installations without network access; - LVM and/or RAID partitioning; - installs on systems with less than about 256MB of RAM (although note that low-memory systems may not be able to run a full desktop environment reasonably). may be you can download it or request it -- Regards, Gaurish Sharma This email is licensed under http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

It is easier to install using the GUI that comes with the default Live-cum-installable CD. Therefore, you have few options. If have unlimited downloads at a reasonably good speed (say 128 Kbps), you could download 7.04, perform the necessary checks (Md5 etc.) and burn it to a CD-RW. Alternatively, if you have ubuntu 6.06 it should install without problems. Then, later you can do a dist-upgrade. -- http://www.gnu.org.in ubunturos @ freenode Travelling to a new city? Hello everyone , Iam unable to install ubunt 7.04 on my system @ home. System configuration: P4, 256MB RAM, 1.7GHz I was able to install only ubuntu 5.10 which does not use the live CD for installation. It is explicitly an installation CD. When i boot from ubuntu 7.04 CD, it takes a very long time to reach the screen where i can find an icon which can be double clicked to install ubuntu. But when i double click on that and wait for more than 10 minutes, the next screen will not appear. *Please let me know if there is any other way by which i can install ubuntu (With out actually doubleclicking that icon).* ** *Iam very much interested to install ubuntu ,,,... Please help me in this regard.* Thanks and Regards, Pramod -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
