Re: [ubuntu-marketing] Ubuntu 'rough' poster
Right, after wasting two days with bzr, I've done what I should have done first: stuck the images up on a server I actually have access to...After doing a great deal of asking for help & complaining in our IRC channel, that is. The Ubuntu posters are currently up at http://ubuntu-ca.org/Ubuntu_roughcut_poster/ If someone who can actually make bzr function wants to put these up, please do! [ubuntu-marketing] Kubuntu Marketing Material
Hello, Kenneth Wimer and I noticed that there was no central place to stock marketing material for kubuntu. Hence, we created a new page on the wiki to centralise all the marketing material dedicated to kubuntu on: http://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuMarketing/Material Everybody is encouraged to contribute to this page by o Creating your own Kubuntu Marketing Material (Poster, Flyer, Presentation, Podcast, Video ... ) o Translating existing material and uploading it to the page ;-) Mirjam -- http://zerlinna.blogweb.de -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list ubuntu-marketing@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing
Re: [ubuntu-marketing] Gorgeous Ubuntu?
Richard Johnson: Practical + Ease of Use + A little Eye Candy == Beautiful! You're in my boat! Right now, I'm angry at Gaim 2 for being so flashy. But my point is, any maybe I didn't express that very well, that if we're going to try to make something gorgeous or beautiful, the wallpaper is the least of the issues. The wallpaper variations may be the differences may be what makes one version of Ubuntu look better than the other, but none of them look gorgeous. Mac's wallpaper is not what makes it look gorgeous. Other people in the Feisty forums are asking for a more professional look. I don't agree with this, I think it will just perpetuate a feeling of "Linux is not a toy. Linux is tough." So maybe something to think about is a very spectacular LiveCD and more default themes in a wider range? Currently, like you have all pointed out, they're all a various shade of bland. Which I prefer, but not all do. Alan is right. XP's theme was very "kiddy" and "bubbly" and Vista's is going to be eye candy, with Mac's always being eye candy. Is that what the market is moving towards? Whitney Callaway -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list ubuntu-marketing@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing
[ubuntu-marketing] CD Boxes
I was discussing Linux Advocacy with a friend the other day, and we talked about the possibility of placing stacks of Ubuntu CDs in some of the local computer shops, most likely to be displayed alongside AOL and Tiscali type CDs (not an ideal position - we would pick somewhere different if possible) but we realised that, as far as we knew, there are no trays available for holding multiple CDs. Would it be possible to have some either produce, or design for printing, something like this? Ideally it should be a simple tray, capable of holiday, say, 50 Ubuntu CDs, with a raised bit at the back with some information on it. [ubuntu-marketing] Humorous video example (Novell)
I saw this a while ago and really like it. I share the link because - it is good - but also because I began to think that we might have someone who could create amusing meaningful animations or videos. http://www.novell.com/linux/windowstolinux/publicservice/ Animation/video is now more acceptable than ever including via the internet - google video - youtube etc. There are many diverse skills available in the ubuntu community, it might be worth seeking some relevant ones for these maybe? I know some in UK are beginning to use screen capture video for technical how-to's. Of course, animation with a message is a different ball game, but could be worth the effort. -- alan cocks Linux registered user #360648 -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list ubuntu-marketing@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing
