Re: [ubuntu-marketing] CD Boxes

2006-11-08 Thread Ben Thorp

 There is one here:
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing
see under Supplementary Material under CD artwork

However, that is probably not what you are looking for.

Actually, it's pretty close to what I was looking for, except it seems to
only hold about 5-10 CDs, where I was thinking more of 30-40.

I'll take a look at the instructions, and see if I can fashion something a
little bigger.

Ben

The challenge with video is that most people simply are nto good at
it. Observe the Firefox Flicks contest. I would have to say that 85%
of the submitted videos were simply not worth watching. Those Novell
videos and their RH equiv were done by professionals with budgets.

That being said, a Firefox Flicks style contest might not be such a
bad idea. Shall we bug the Firefox Flicks guys for the software they
 run?

 Corey
I think that this is a terrific idea - once again stressing the aspects of
community!

Re: [ubuntu-marketing] Targeted email, phone, and face-to-face tactics

2006-11-08 Thread Daniel Buch
In response to the recent thread about marketing tactics for Community
members, DIYMarketing, etc.:

For the sake of other folks like me who have only recently joined up
with the Community, what's the fastest and most effective way for an
individual to get involved with the SpreadUbuntu project? It seems
that Jenda's spec is pretty all-inclusive, and I'd love to see the
site up and running.

http://doc.ubuntu.com/~marketing/SpreadUbuntu%20Structure%20Proposals/Spreadubuntu-060628-jenda.png

I just know that I can't be the only Ubuntu newcomer who's been
frustrated by the lack of a single entry point for volunteer
marketing. Fishing around through the wiki, mailing list, forum, and
IRC channel is just too cumbersome...
I found the kitchen. Now where's the food?

Agreed, but maybe there are some final year media or drama guys gals
who just maybe like linux. It would be a good project for them, might
ge t global coverage. The animation 'singing alien'
 (http://www.funlol.com/funpages/singing-alien.html) was a practice
experiment and has become a famous standard too, for its author.

If we like the idea, we may not need a big budget perhaps.

 good idea

I have heard through the grapvine that John Little of ubuntuvideo.com
is coming back, after having been working on the election in the US. I
suspect that ubuntuvideo is best place for this, so lets get John
enthused when he returns to us.
