Can't connect to wireless networks

2008-07-04 Thread Rafael Cardenas

Hello, thanks for your answers in the USB install post.

I'm creating this new post to continue about the wireless connection.

Yesterday I modified the /etc/network/interfaces file, for the eth0 device
(wired) I put my office network static IP, mask, etc., and it works.

I went to my house, I have a linksys router, I configured my home wireless
network and my wireless key using "Connect with other wireless network.." and
it works.

But I can't connect to my office wireless network, for some reason mubuntu
can't obtain the information of the DHCP server, is there a way to configure it
in command line?

Is it normal that the option "Manual Configuration" did not works?

It happened also in other public hot spots

regards

RE: How to install Ubuntu Linux from USB Stick from Windows Vista

2008-07-03 Thread Rafael Cardenas

Thank you, my Q1 is now running Mobile Ubuntu

But I can't connect to any wireless network, should I run some commands to
configure it?

Sorry but I haven't experience with linux

For the ehternet network, should I modify the /etc/network/interfaces file? I
did like this:

  auto lo
  iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 144.3.140.141 gateway 144.3.140.1
 netmask 255.255.252.0 network 192.1.1.160

regards

problem installing mobile ubuntu

2008-06-27 Thread Rafael Cardenas

Hello, I have a Samsung Q1, I downloaded the Mobile Ubuntu release version from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/moblin/releases/8.04

I extracted the files in the image and also I prepared a USB stick for booting
with this image.

The USB boots, I pressed "Enter" to start the installation and after several OS
messages the boot proccess stops, the last message was "will mount root from
/dev/sdb" and that's all,

I tried also with other image file that I found in
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/moblin/hardy/mccaslin_samsungq1ultrafull/current with
the same problem.

Am I doing something wrong?

My Q1 has 2 paritions, one with with 30Gb and Widnows Vista, and the second
with the rest of the space formated with FAT32.

Install Mobile Ubuntu in dual boot mode

2008-06-26 Thread Rafael Cardenas

Hello, I have a Samsung Q1 with Windows Vista Ultimate.

I already installed a beta version of mobile ubuntu, but erased all my windows
partition.

I reainstalled my Windows Vista and I divided the disks in two partitions, I
want to install the latest version of Mobile Ubuntu (in 8.04 release directory)
in the second partition, is it possible?

Should I modify the install.sh or install.cfg files?

Can some one give mi a clue?

Best regards
