RE: eee?

2008-03-27 Thread Rusty Lynch
Praj, I carried in my eeepc to work today, so if you want to try your
LiveCD on it then you can use it.

say the problem is with the liveCD that was built? should i build another?

RE: eee?

2008-03-27 Thread Prajwal Mohan

I have tried the LiveCD functionality on Samsung Q1 (Mccaslin) and it works.
I haven't tried testing it extensively though.

Thanks,
Praj

Perhaps Praj has an idea?

BTW... you don't have a USB key handy? It's so much easier to deal with
then burning CD's and using USB CD drives.

Or... are you saying the eeepc BIOS doesn't support booting off a USB
key? I have an eeepc but have never tried booting off a USB key... I
should just give it a try.

Re: eee?

2008-03-26 Thread daniel sobey
I have been trying to get ubuntu-mobile running on my
own eeepc and have not had much luck with the image
creator. I created an image a few weeks ago and wrote
it to a usb key and it failed to fully boot.

What I am currently doing is running a regular hardy
and have installed the ubuntu-mobile package. I start
from a .desktop entry in grub which calls the
start-hildon scrip from the wiki.

What are the differences between a full install and
installing the metapackage?

Re: eee?

2008-03-26 Thread Mahir Sayar
right so i made the livecd image..
using the hardy with teh extra fpset things... with all but without the
debuging..

however like i stated, i am unable to boot the eeepc using an SDcard so im
booting via usb cdrom..

when i try to boot the cdimage via kvm and qemu and a native boot on the
eeepc
i get the same error message

Trying again /dev/scd0

what can i do to combat this?

Yes it is possible if you swap out the kernel with the normal i386
Ubunt/Hardy kernel.

Re: eee?

2008-03-26 Thread Tobin Davis
Architecturally, the Eee PC is the same as the McCaslin platform
supported in MIC. I'd try making a live usb image first, as the install
image will wipe the local drive.

The only issue I can readily think of is the default resolution for X.
The Q1 Ultra, which the McCaslin image is more specific to, has a higher
resolution capability than the Eee.
