Very sad. I wish I had the skills to be able to take over. However it

Hi,

I checked on http://willmyphonework.net and it says only some 3g networks
will work in Japan. (900MHz, 2100MHz)

[Ubuntu-phone] UT BQ Aquaris E5 to Japan

2016-06-22 Thread Marcos Alonso
Hi guys.

In a couple of weeks I will go to Japan.

Does any of you know if the bq Aquaris E5 (ubuntu edition, of course) will
be usable in both, phone calls and data?

I worry to conclude based on Google that I can use it and, for my lack of
knowledge, to be wrong and get incommunicated! Then I prefer to ask to the
experts!

Sorry if is not the rigth place to ask...

Thanks

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Reinstall ubuntu on Meizu pro 5 ubuntu edition

2016-06-22 Thread Rodney Dawes
Hi,

You need to follow the process described on the wiki[1] and use the
recovery image provided there as well, for your device. Something like:

ubuntu-device-flash touch --recovery-image recovery-turbo.img

If you have to flash from the bootloader, you will need --bootstrap as
well, which will erase all user data on the phone (pictures, settings,
etc…).

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Music app refuses to start

2016-06-22 Thread Sigvard Lyth
Hi Alexander.

Are you using a file manager app to look for them? Because files beginning
with a . are hidden. So you need to turn that on to see them. I can't find
a way to do that right now. :-(

But use the Go to function in the right upper menu, and go to
'/home/phablet/.config/' and maneuver regularly from there.

Good luck!

2016-06-22 Thread Alexander
The directories you mentioned do not exist on my phone?!? I uninstalled
the app and installed it again. Same issue and the directories still
don't exist. Perhaps somehow they went away and the app does not check
on first run because it comes installed as default?

How can I manually create those directories and put into them what the
app expects to be starting? Can somebody with a Aquaris 5 just send me
the contents of those two directories from his phone so i can see what
happens? Seems the way forward or are there other ideas?

~/.local/share/com.ubuntu.music/ (for databases of your playlists)

This issue could be due to a stale lock file bug [0], I would be

directories (if there are try deleting just the .lock files and
relaunching the app).

Otherwise try deleting all the files in the directories to see if the

Let me know if you need additional help removing the relevant files.

[Ubuntu-phone] Reinstall ubuntu on Meizu pro 5 ubuntu edition

2016-06-22 Thread Alexandre Payet
Hi,

Is there a step by step documentation to resinstall ubuntu on Meizu Pro5
Ubuntu edition in case of breaking os ?

I can't find this on wiki.ubuntu.com (only the procedure for device coming
from android like nexus 4)

I would like to test some things on the device but after knowing if it's
easy to reinstall the os (like on nexus 4 for example).

These are some incertitudes points :
Is the bootloader unlocked ?
If no, is it possible to flash UT from the original recovery using
--recovery option + recovery-custom.img ?
Is it necessary to flash a flym-os version and then flash ubuntu back ?
(like I can see on this google+ post
)

Alexandre,

Most of them are really happening because android is some 10 years ahead
in optimizing things. If you compare Ubuntu now and 3 years ago, you'll
notice a considerable difference already. And we keep on improving
things. But especially when it comes to performance tuning, it's not
like you change one line of code and suddenly everything will be fast.
It takes time.

That said, some if the issues you are reporting are new to me. For

probably should report bugs on Launchpad for those issue with *very*
