Re: Introductory Mail - Akhila Hegde

2012-08-01 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Greetings Akhila, wonderful to have you! If your curious as to what all
we as a team do, please see the 'Activities' page on the ubuntu wiki.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities

Right now we're testing webapps, and continuing our 12.10 kernel on
12.04 testing campaign. We utilize the qatracker to manage and report on
our tests -- it's good to become familiar with it.

http://packages.qa.ubuntu.com/ has these campaigns.

Next week we'll be undertaking our iso testing of the daily iso's this
time as part of our normal 2 week cadence. Jump in wherever your
interested and feel free to ask questions. Now is an exciting time to
get involved. Lots of features are landing between now and beta
milestone, and we'll be a part of making sure they are working properly.

Welcome!

Nicholas

Greetings Team!

I'm Akhila Hegde, fondly referred to as Hegde by my ex-colleagues.
I have a masters degree in Physics(2006). Work-wise, I have been into
research, programming, web designing and testing.
Since testing grabbed my attention, I took up a course in testing and
hence familiar with testing aspects and QTP.
When it comes to my previous QA works, I cannot claim anything more
than being a part of Acceptance Testing team and being good at that.
If more information on the project is required, I'm ready to share the
same.
I aspire to be a tester. And I believe, I'm ready to be one now. Since
Ubuntu provides an opportunity to actually put my testing skills to
use(or maybe I should just say, test?), to communicate with well
experienced testers, I look forward to be accepted by the team to work
along with and at the same time, learn enough to make considerable
contribution.

Thanks.

ISO Testing Screencast

2012-08-01 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
I've created a video to accompany the iso testing walkthrough. I'd love
some feedback on both the walk-through and video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noDAsZjvmSA
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/ISO/Walkthrough

Are they helpful? I know the video could be better (next time,
promise!), but are the concepts communicated easier? I'm especially
looking to hear from new folks who may never have iso tested. I want to
make sure you have all the tools and information needed to jump in and
get involved. As always, happy testing everyone,

Nicholas
