Re: Call for testing on Webapps

2012-08-01 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
That can happen when the archive is being updated -- this is often
called a partial upgrade and you did the right thing to say no to it.
Once all the packages are in the archive, this issues should resolve
itself. If it doesn't, you may have found a bug or you may need to take
action yourself to correct. Are you running quantal I assume?

  Hallo Fauzi
To do this you needs to have a launchpad account.
SImply looking at the page of the test, eg this for webapps BBC
http://packages.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/228/builds/19413/testcases/1324/results
you can see a red written `Link to bug reporting instructions`, click on
it, click on which browser you encounter the issue and a report page
will be opened, write the title in the Summary box, click `Next', insert
a complete description of the bug, scroll down till the confirm button.
If you need to attach a screenshot or a file, then before confirm, click
on the green written 'Extra option'.

More detailed instructions on
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs (due to the experimental
nature of webapps, don't use ubuntu-bug but follow the above
instructions).

Are you referring to those lines like this one?

warning: Schema 'com.ubuntu.update-manager' has path
'/apps/update-manager/'. Paths starting with '/apps/', '/desktop/' or
'/system/' are deprecated.

These are deprecation warnings, not real errors (they don't prevent you
to complete the upgrade).

I can report the same thing.

In addition to that, testing in chromium gives mixed results:
 * webapps crashing a few times
 * missing icons (empty block)
 * duplicate icons (inactive chromium + active chromium without
chromium icon)
 * issues with gmail (click without signing in to gmail, no
integration hooks on the login page, I got a few crashes clicking on
various icons in that state)

I could not get any of the online accounts test cases to work. I
ended up with multiple facebook entries (some had 'null' names) and
control centre crashes.

Thanks

Call for testing on Webapps

2012-07-25 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
I made a post to my blog (since this week isn't busy enough!) about the
call for testing being opened on webapps. There's a nice set of
testcases available that you can help report results on. The technology
is very cool, but could use the work of our excellent eyes and
experience in helping make sure it works across many different
configurations. Don't worry, the call isn't ending this week, so for
those of you already testing, make sure you take some time for you
before you jump in on this :-)
