[Bug 274298] Re: br0: Dropping NETIF_F_UFO since no NETIF_F_HW_CSUM feature.

2009-12-15 Thread Jan Marquardt
We are still having this issue with Hardy. It would be great if anybody
could provide a solution for this, because it slows down the boot
process to a couple of minutes.

Regards,

Jan

Re: [Bug 494383] Re: package ntp 1:4.2.4p6+dfsg-1ubuntu5.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 102

2009-12-15 Thread Joe Power
Hi Chuck,
The /etc/rc2.d/S50ntp script was never changed. My machine has been
through three upgrades (Intrepid, Jaunty and Karmic). When I examined
the file I discovered that it was an actual file and not a sym link
to /etc/init.d/ntp. When I replaced the file with this sym link and then
ran 'apt-get install -f' the install completed successfully. I don't
know when or how /etc/rc2.d/S50ntp became a file, but it is definitely
not something I did deliberately. I hope this helps you.

Regards,
Joe.

[Bug 496922] [NEW] Ubuntu snmpd package doesn't include all net-snmpd modules

2009-12-15 Thread Jens Rantil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: snmpd

=== The problem ===
The 'exec' directive is not compiled into snmpd. However, the snmpd config file
(/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf) provides lines commented out to do this. Figuring out
how this works

=== Proposed solution(s) ===
There are three ways of solving this issue:
1) The best way: to compile snmpd with the 'ucd_snmp' MIB module. See the blog
post in the references section on how to do this.
2) Remove the exec directive examples in the '/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf'.
3) Inform about the dependence in the 'exec' example section in
'/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf'.

=== Additional notes ===
According to the blog post below this problem is also related to the 'proc'
directive, too. However, I have not verified this.

=== References ===
This blog post helped me identify this issue: http://bryanfullerton.com/?p=124

=== My system: ===

[Bug 496932] [NEW] Keepalived haven't LVS support

2009-12-15 Thread Geordi LaForge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: keepalived

The actual version (1.1.17) of keepalived in Ubuntu 9.10-amd64 have a big
problem,
silently the package was build without the LVS support so if you put some
configuration dedicated to balance some servers, the keepalived daemon simply
ignore it without any warning.

This is a big problem because no warning and no information about this
change wasn't present...
This is my configuration:

[Bug 418897] Re: Segfaults in apache2 with libapache2-mod-php5 installed

2009-12-15 Thread Gerry Patterson
Hi All,

I am still seeing the above error after adding the line to suhosin.ini
(only one file as the other is a link to the same one). I am seeing
errors in /var/log/apache2/error.log such as:

[Tue Dec 15 11:50:24 2009] [notice] child pid 6064 exit signal Segmentation
fault (11)
[Tue Dec 15 11:50:24 2009] [notice] child pid 6065 exit signal Segmentation
fault (11)

with blank pages appearing in the browser. I have tried removing php5-suhosin
package, restarting apache2, editing config files, restarting apache2
Nothing appears to work. The report seems to indicate this is fixed in the
latest available packages. I have performed apt-get update apt-get upgrade.
All packages are reported to be up to date.

Am I missing something?

Best Regards,

- Gerry

[Bug 497087] [NEW] Redundancy for cloud and cluster controller

A question that came up in every UEC class I've run so far was how to

2009-12-15 Thread Nick Barcet
I discussed this a bit with eucalyptus and there is no obvious ways to
do this without modification in the code at the moment. Has to do with
the way and state handling is currently done and meta data is stored.
They do plan to work on this in the future.

[Bug 497149] [NEW] Packages using DKMS should make use of /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst

2009-12-15 Thread Mario Limonciello
Public bug reported:

Packages in Debian Ubuntu that are using their own postinstall script
should remove the logic from there and instead use
/usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst . This script contains sufficient logic

builds on a buildd (if a package is ever included in a live media

[Bug 497196] [NEW] ietadm not in the eucalyptus user's path

2009-12-15 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Public bug reported:

ietadm is in /usr/sbin/ietadm, which is not in the eucalyptus user's
default PATH.

This is causing the following errors in /var/log/eucalyptus/cloud-error.log:
com.eucalyptus.util.EucalyptusCloudException: ietadm not found: Is iscsitarget
installed?
at
edu.ucsb.eucalyptus.storage.ISCSIManager.checkPreconditions(ISCSIManager.java:64)

eucalyp...@aussie:~$ echo $PATH

This can be solved either by adding /usr/sbin to eucalyptus' PATH, or by
fully qualifying the ietadm binary in the eucalyptus source code.

Either way, this should be solved programmatically for UEC.

Never seen such an idiotic architecture detection for a Debian package.
Fix this and nobody should use that template in Debian package.

[Bug 497149] Re: Packages using DKMS should make use of /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst

2009-12-15 Thread Anders Kaseorg
What’s wrong with ‘uname -m’? (Is this somehow related to allowing
builds on a buildd?)

But in any event, why can’t /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst do the
architecture detection itself? There’s no reason the module package
itself should have to care about that detail.

2009-12-15 Thread Mario Limonciello
ARCH is an optional argument anyway to common.postinst.

uname -m is not reliable in a buildd environment. If you don't provide ARCH
it does fall back to uname -m

Not the `dpkg --print-architecture`, but the stuff bellow. If it is
really needed then move it to /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst and not as
part of each package were it needs mass bug fillings to add updates.

[Bug 497149] Re: Packages using DKMS should make use of /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst

2009-12-15 Thread Anders Kaseorg
I assume his complaint is that you hard code a map {amd64 → x86_64, lpia
→ i686, i386 → i686} that is neither complete nor obviously correct, and
if this map ever _does_ need to change, that will currently require
shipping more updates to every package that uses dkms. It would be
better to keep all that logic contained in the dkms package.

Thanks for following up.

I can confirm that the qemu-kvm build that produces this binary most
certainly does enable kvm by default. (The same binary, if built from
qemu alone will not, however that's not what we're using in ubuntu).
