[Bug 162253] Re: openssh: want hpn-ssh for 20x speed improvement!

2009-12-24 Thread Chuck Ritola
Jeremy: I've had success getting HPN-SSH patch to apply to openSSH.org's
source downloaded into 9.10 and installing. Perhaps you make a package
from those sources? Note: I found it critical to use the right HPN patch
for the right SSH version. Also, the openssh.org soruce install will
install the binaries to slightly different locations than the ubuntu
package.

[Bug 59642] Re: mkcert.sh dovecot-openssl.cnf

2009-12-24 Thread Barry Warsaw
I'll throw my weight behind adding mkcert.sh to the package. The
rationale is that if you google for dovecot ssl you'll be presented
with the dovecot.org wiki pages that describe using mkcert.sh. So
naturally you're going to want to try that simple approach and will fail
on Ubuntu.

Simple self-signed certificates are perfectly fine in a homebrew
network. When I'm out on the road, I just want an encrypted tunnel to
the imap server (and smtp server) on my home network. I trust my own
signed certs, so I don't need anything else. The lack of mkcert.sh in
the Ubuntu package for dovecot makes life harder.

[Bug 498152] [NEW] Problem with Ubuntu 9.10 to Windows XP file share

2009-12-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have these three computers wired-networked using a hub:

Windows XP desktop
Windows XP laptop
Ubuntu 9.10 desktop

In all three computers I have defined a share folder with the option to
allow users to create and change files.

I would like to be able to copy files between these three shared
folders. From Windows XP this works fine. I can copy/paste a file into
the share folders of the other Windows XP and the Ubuntu 9.10.

However, if I try and copy/paste a file from Ubuntu 9.10 into the share
folder of either Windows XP I see that the 'paste' option is not
available when I right-click the mouse. I notice that the 'create
folder' and 'create document' options are also unable when I right-click
the mouse.

I notice that there is no problem in updating an existing document in
any of the share folders from any of the computers. The problem is
creating a new document in a Windows XP share folder when working from
Ubuntu 9.10.

Could you please have a look ?

Thank you.

Regards,
John.

Attached is a diff, created by copying *_list from 4.7.36ubuntu3 (lucid)

real surprises that I saw. I'm not entirely sure how to get from here

[Bug 498152] Re: Problem with Ubuntu 9.10 to Windows XP file share

2009-12-24 Thread Zachary D. Skelton
See about getting that error log, it's location is in your smb.conf
file. Also, run `smbd --version`. If you are running Version 3.4.0,
then this link shows that the particular bug you are working with is
fixed with Version 3.4.3
http://old.nabble.com/ubuntu-9.10-samba-windows-permission-errors-td26412601.html

Samba4 is located in the universe repository so if you need to update,
ensure that you have it enabled.

[Bug 500272] [NEW] qemu-kvm 0.12.1.1 needed (KSM not available in current 0.11 version)

2009-12-24 Thread Brian Knoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qemu-kvm

KSM is supported by the current Lucid kernel. However, the current
version of the qemu-kvm package, 0.11, does not support KSM. Therefore,
memory usage will be suboptimal, as this key feature is disabled for KVM
VM guests unless a high enough version of the qemu-kvm package is used.

Since this is an LTS release, I strongly recommend resolving this issue,
as virtualization features such as KSM are crucial for many users, and
failure to get this into the LTS release means LTS users will probably
have to wait another two years, or build things themselves (outside of
the shipped packages).

[Bug 500272] Re: qemu-kvm 0.12.1.1 needed for KSM support (key KVM virtualization feature)

2009-12-24 Thread Brian Knoll
** Summary changed:

- qemu-kvm 0.12.1.1 needed for KSM support (key virtualization feature)
+ qemu-kvm 0.12.1.1 needed for KSM support (key KVM virtualization feature)

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: qemu-kvm

- KSM is supported by the current Lucid kernel. However, the current
- version of the qemu-kvm package, 0.11, does not support KSM. Therefore,
- memory usage will be suboptimal, as this key feature is disabled for KVM
- VM guests unless a high enough version of the qemu-kvm package is used.
+ KSM is supported by the current Ubuntu Lucid kernel. However, the
+ current version of the qemu-kvm package, 0.11, does not support KSM.
+ Therefore, memory usage will be suboptimal, as this key feature is

Since this is an LTS release, I strongly recommend resolving this issue,
as virtualization features such as KSM are crucial for many users, and
failure to get this into the LTS release means LTS users will probably
have to wait another two years, or build things themselves (outside of
  the shipped packages).

[Bug 434799] Re: X11 forwarding via SSH does not work after upgrade to karmic

2009-12-24 Thread zuhanden
asaijo's fix worked great.

This is not the first IPv4-related tweak I've had to perform since
upgrading to Karmic. I had to disable IPv6 on my system because DNS
queries took 15-30 seconds... and now this.

This fix should be kept available for those who upgraded! Thanks
asaijo!!
