[Bug 622810] Re: after logging into ftp (vsftpd) ubuntu crashes
The phone is connected to the computer via the usb cable provided with it in the " PC Suite Mode". I have tried other connection modes available as well but the result is the same every time. In fact i installed vsftpd 2.3.2 from source available on the homepage and yet the result is the same. So I am quite sure there is some kind of conflict here. -- after logging into ftp (vsftpd) ubuntu crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622810 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vsftpd in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 623525] Re: Panic or segfault in Samba when a windows client tries to access a share
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 619843] Re: euca-get-console-output returns one single line
Carlos, libvirt will only change the permissions for files it needs to, and only on demand. Therefore, it looks like i-4D8108F1, i-3E240779, and i-3DDB07C2 were all started after you changed qemu.conf and restarted libvirt. A reboot of the guest is not enough because a new qemu/kvm process is not launched. It looks like i-3878063D and i-44150778 (ie the ones with root:root ownership of the disk and console.log) were either rebooted or launched before libvirt was fully reloaded. i-4628084F is a mystery to me-- it certainly isn't anything libvirt did (libvirt doesn't know about the 'eucalyptus' user unless you configured qemu.conf to use it). -- euca-get-console-output returns one single line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 578035] Re: ssh-askpass-gnome doesn't prompt for password in any release post ubuntu 8.10 32/64bit
I'd just like to add a "me too" comment. I have re-installed my Ubuntu, copied my id_dsa into ~/.ssh. Its annoying that I no longer get the gui prompt to enter my password which is then cached. [Bug 614195] Re: Apache2 UserDir defaults to User www-data
Giving the web server (under www-data or any other user) complete write access to Wordpress is not a good idea, regardless. The installation docs even go in depth to tell you how to temporarily make the config file writeable (say, chmod 666 config.php) so you can run the config script, then tell you to undo that afterward. Why do you think having write access to your scripts is a reasonable and "correct" setup that we should be shipping out of the box? (Yes, sometimes you want an upload directory, tmp-style, for certain CMSes, again, you can chmod just those directories, no need to have your entire web root writable by a web server) -- Apache2 UserDir defaults to User www-data https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614195 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 614195] Re: Apache2 UserDir defaults to User www-data
I faced the problem with wordpress installation in userdir. As the user as no permissions on that dir, PHP scripts can't write files to that dir. For example Worpdress can't create its configuration file on install, or install extensions. This is bad My solution is to add 'my_user' to www-data group and to: # sudo chmod -R 770 public html # sudo chown -R my_user:www-data public html This has to be done anytime 'my_user' adds or edits a php file in public_html. I ran the mysql-testsuite with the version of the package in the merge proposal. Attaching the results. [Bug 561750] Re: squid starts and stops immediately (after upgrade from karmic to lucid)
I've done the following and this seems to have solved the issue for me: 1) added a line in /etc/default/squid SQUID_ARGS='-D' (disable startup DNS checks, since my server is not always fully started by the time squid starts) I'm fairly sure that squid used to be started with -D by default and I'd see it as a regression that it isn't now. 2) replaced "restart squid" with "reload squid" in /etc/resolvconf /update-libc.d/squid. -- squid starts and stops immediately (after upgrade from karmic to lucid) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561750 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 415484] Re: unable to save login details for web UI
Hi, Obviously it is because we are not using form and the UI is generated from javascript. There is a hack to achieve password autocomplete in IE and firefox. It does not seem to work with webkit though. http://groups.google.com/group/google-web- toolkit/browse_thread/thread/2b2ce0b6aaa82461 This is an issue with GWT. We surely can do something to mimic the same effect. But it looks like some major code change in the UI. Is this a must to fix? I feel it is that important. Just my opinion. If it is really necessary, we can fix it surely. [Bug 619843] Re: euca-get-console-output returns one single line
To summarize the IRC discussion: libvirt uses a stacked security driver. The one at the bottom is always on and is the DAC driver. MAC drivers such as the AppArmor one used in Ubuntu sit on top of the DAC driver. The DAC driver looks at /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf for the user and group to run qemu/kvm as and as of libvirt 0.8.3 the DAC driver will consistently chown files to the user and group as defined in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf. The DAC driver changes started to appear in earlier releases of the 0.8 series, and Debian started to use them during the Lucid cycle. Since Karmic, libvirt uses the AppArmor security driver and therefore qemu/kvm is confined more thoroughly by AppArmor than with the DAC driver and it was deemed too risky to run kvm/qemu as non-root since the libvirt code was not as well tested. So in Lucid, we changed qemu.conf back to running as root. Now because of 0.8.3's behavior of unconditionally chowning what qemu/kvm needs access to, disks and the console.log are chowned to 'root:root', which is why the euca user doesn't have access to the console.log. The proper fix is to drop the 9008-run-as-root-by-default.patch patch and adding eucalyptus to the 'kvm' group. In addition to fixing this bug, it has the side benefits of reducing the Debian delta slightly and providing better protection for when the AppArmor driver is turned off. -- euca-get-console-output returns one single line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 462169] Re: nmbd dies on startup when network interfaces are not up yet
Hi Nick, Does this mean that the first network interface that comes up on your system is not a broadcast interface? We don't have a way to detect this from /etc/init/nmbd.conf. If you have a point-to-point interface coming up before your broadcast interfaces, that would definitely account for nmbd failing to start. You can always edit /etc/init/nmbd.conf for your needs, specifying a particular interface that it should wait for. -- nmbd dies on startup when network interfaces are not up yet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462169 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
