[Bug 703811] Re: kvm guest's cpu usage with virtio storage driver goes up to 100% because of flush process
I dont have any raids configured at my laptop but had on my production server and the reason, the reason why i've installed kvm on laptop was that i was thinking that its raid problem :) and to reproduce (for me) only i've got to do is fresh ubuntu installation with kvm. i dont know, may be its up to my hardware specs and some of kvm / libvirt code part. but the patch u've provided seems to solve the problem. so there must be something in the changelog -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kvm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/703811 Title: kvm guest's cpu usage with virtio storage driver goes up to 100% because of flush process -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 711534] Re: euca-upload-bundle fails when connecting to Eucalyptus and a path in bucket is specified
The command specified in the bug report doesn't work with AWS S3 unless the user has actually created the bucket somehow. I just tested this. For instance, if you use the option "-b mybucket/abcd/efgh" S3 will correctly interpret this request (PUT to mybucket/abcd/efgh) as an empty put to the bucket "mybucket" with the keyname "abcd/efgh." Which is correct behavior. The user must have already have a bucket, "mybucket." Otherwise the key "abcd/efgh" cannot be created because the bucket does not exist. Before the key can be created, the bucket needs to be created with a PUT to "mybucket" "/"s are not allowed in the bucket name. The "/" is interpreted as part of the key. The bucket must exist for that key to be created. So the bug report is partly right and partly wrong. The real bug is that Walrus should be returning a 404 and not a 400 when someone tries to access "mybucket/abcd/efgh" if the bucket does not exist. The command will not work on S3 or against Walrus if the bucket (the part of the string before the first "/") was never created, but the right error to send back is a 404 (no such bucket) and not a 400 (bad request). This is fixed in revno 1257 in lp:eucalyptus. Hope all this makes sense, neil ** Changed in: eucalyptus Status: New => Fix Committed ** Also affects: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711534 Title: euca-upload-bundle fails when connecting to Eucalyptus and a path in bucket is specified -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 590201] Re: OpenSolaris (previously working) no longer boots: kernel panics early
OK Serge, I've tried that kernel and it didn't help except maybe with a dmesg line that looks new (I might have just missed it). 1) With my long kvm invocation, I got the OSol kernel panic output shown in the .png attachment to an earlier message; but, also this line dmesg: [ 210.924821] kvm: 2594: cpu0 unhandled rdmsr: 0xc0011023 2) With the short commandline you posted a few days ago the OSol kernel doesn't panic but attempts a BSDish dump, and no dump device is configured so it just stops. I will attach a .png of the visible last lines of that. In this case the dmesg line is not "unhandled rdmsr", but instead: [ 580.689021] kvm: emulating exchange as write Something looks interesting: in 1) kvm says "unhandled rdmsr", and in 2) the kernel call trace shows a few symbols with 'wrmsr' (see attached .png). Error regarding a model specific register? I don't have experience at this low level so I am only hoping there's a clue here. -Ed ** Attachment added: "screenshot of tail of OSol kernel dump" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/590201/+attachment/1879687/+files/osolcallstack.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590201 Title: OpenSolaris (previously working) no longer boots: kernel panics early -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 590201] Re: OpenSolaris (previously working) no longer boots: kernel panics early
Serge, The problem must be related to the hardware. The machine I have the bug on is a laptop w/ AMD Turion cpu, ATI/AMD chips (RS690, SB600). As you said it works for you on an Intel laptop, I've managed to try the same VM image on a HP laptop w/ Intel Core quad, Ubuntu 10.04 fully updated, and it is working. Note that the AMD machine still has a Ubuntu 9.04 _not_ updated, and kvm runs the OpenSolaris VM with that, just not with 10.04 or 10.10; moreover, VirtualBoxOSE will run the _same_ VM image under 10.04 and 10.10. So, the problem must be between the hardware and some kernel and/or kvm that appeared with or shortly after the 10.04 release. Note also that that since 10.10 there are other problems, such as that display brightness or pm suspend do not work if booted on main power, but _do_ work if booted on battery. The kernel has regressed for that hardware. >> I suspect, however, that this is another bug manifesting itself only >> on AMD. I should have tried on Intel sooner. Still, it isn't strictly a hardware problem - the older software worked. - Ed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590201 Title: OpenSolaris (previously working) no longer boots: kernel panics early -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Please verify that the configuration file is correct and try to resinstall bacula or use the following: sudo dpkg --configure -a Also, if possible please provide the bacula-dir.conf file or the lines specified by the error, which will allows us to determine in further detail the cause of the issue. [Bug 531912] Re: /etc/init.d/ssh seems to work, but actually upstart is used.
> At least the fix for this bit of Upstart badness is easy enough, just remove /etc/init/ssh and start sshd with the script in init.d. Perhaps it's not as architecturally elegant as Upstart ... Perhaps Ubuntu maintainers are not aware of the importance of sshd in general? sshd is vital on remote machines/servers which are running without screen and keyboard. ssh is the (almost) only access and that has to be reliable! It has to be up as the first daemon as soon as networking is configured and has to be the last service to be stopped on shut down - and it has to restart itself in case of unforseen interruptions. Moving such a service to upstart at the moment is lightheaded and disqualifies Ubuntu for servers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/531912 Title: /etc/init.d/ssh seems to work, but actually upstart is used. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hi David, Thank you for reporting bugs and trying to make Ubuntu better. Now, for what I can see in DpkgTerminalLog, the issue appears to be with MySQL. The log shows the following: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES). unable to connect to mysql server. Which leads me to believe that you don't have MySQL installed, it has not started, or simply you input the incorrect password when requested. Could you please confirm that: - MySQL has been installed. - MySQL is running and password has been set correctly and you can log into the database with it. - That you Input the correct password for bacula. To retry I believe that the following command should work: sudo dpkg --configure -a You could also provide an step-by-step to be able to reproduce this issue correctly if possible. [Bug 716659] Re: Root filesystem goes "Read only" after installing multipath-tools on Lucid
>From examining the output and can see why the blacklist was defined in this manner, and how to correct it. Also, since the luns are reporting themselves as DGC, specifying a configuration for SYMMETRIX just won't work. Clarion and Symmetrix are completely different animals from what I gather. Attached is a new multipath.conf (rename it correctly before moving to etc) that contains what I believe to be the configuration they're trying to achieve. Unfortunately, this is array is so configurable, all this effort could be a waste if it's not setup correctly. Should this config not work, try deleting the 'devices' section entirely and reboot. Multipath carries a configuration for DGC already that might work. # echo 'show config' | multipathd -k ... device { vendor DGC product .* product_blacklist LUNZ path_grouping_policy group_by_prio path_checker emc_clariion features 1 queue_if_no_path hardware_handler 1 emc prio_callout /sbin/mpath_prio_emc /dev/%n failback immediate no_path_retry 60 } Failing that I would suggest that the customer make the array work with powerpath first, so we know the HW is configured correctly, and then we can try again with multipath. ** Attachment added: "Experimental EMC Clarion config" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/716659/+attachment/1878975/+files/multipath-v1.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/716659 Title: Root filesystem goes "Read only" after installing multipath-tools on Lucid -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
