[Bug 798934] Re: Lm-sensors's init script sets an unused variable
I stumbled over this because I compiled lmsensors by myself but wanted to use the provided init script. I changed the PROGRAM variable to the alternative location and expected that it works. If I set an variable then I expect that it is used. So its not a bug in the sense that it does not work - changing it will not change this situation - but improve the init script source code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lm-sensors in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798934 Title: Lm-sensors's init script sets an unused variable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lm-sensors/+bug/798934/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 524447] Re: virsh save is very slow
The page you referenced doesn't include anything that I can find about the ticket priority level. It states that Stable release updates will, in general, only be issued in order to fix high-impact bugs and provides several examples. Among them is Bugs which do not fit under above categories, [security vulnerabilities, severe regressions, or loss of user data] but (1) have an obviously safe patch and (2) affect an application rather than critical infrastructure packages (like X.org or the kernel). I submit that this is an obviously safe patch. The change is small, simple, isolated, has been tested to work, and doesn't change any interfaces. Is qemu-kvm considered a critical infrastructure package or not? I don't know the answer to that, but I can see valid arguments both for and against. I also have an example of a potential data loss situation, though it is admittedly somewhat weak. I'll spare everyone the narrative but I'll share it if it would be helpful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524447 Title: virsh save is very slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libvirt/+bug/524447/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 817187] [NEW] change in readlink() errno in 2.6.39 and later kernels causes FTBFS for packages with older gnulib
Public bug reported: This is due to the following: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2011-03/msg00308.html coreutils' make check failed on rawhide due to a kernel change in how readlink and readlinkat treat the empty file name. Before, they'd fail with ENOENT. Now, it's EINVAL. This will affect more than libvirt, (see Debian http://bugs.debian.org /cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=630902) but the patch in the above bug can be applied to gnulib/tests/test-areadlink.h to get these building again on newer releases. [Bug 817187] Re: change in readlink() errno in 2.6.39 and later kernels causes FTBFS for packages with older gnulib
This is a notty one. The behavour has indeed changed, ENOENT was the previous return and now we return EINVAL. I do not have a POSIX manual to hand, but the gist of the restriction is as below: Empty pathname In the original Unix, the empty pathname referred to the current directory. Nowadays POSIX decrees that an empty pathname must not be resolved successfully. Linux returns ENOENT in this case. It could be argued that the new behaviour is just as valid. A change is however unhelpful. Especially as kernel behaviour is exposed in chroots. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817187 Title: change in readlink() errno in 2.6.39 and later kernels causes FTBFS for packages with older gnulib To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/817187/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thanks for reporting this bug. Could you please describe your environment a bit more? You said 'After installing ubuntu server and attempting to also install an ubuntu client using virt-manager' - did you install both of those as kvm VMs? And did you have no sound issues before you created these VMs? Which releases are you using for the VMs? Can you give us the xml definition of the VMS? (virsh list to get the VM names, then 'virsh dumpxml nameX' to dump the definitions) If kvm did something to confuse your host's audio daemon, then restarting it may fix it. [Bug 815089] Re: package open-vm-dkms 2010.02.23-236320-1 ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build
Thanks for taking the time to submit this bug. You are running on a backported 2.6.38 kernel. The open-vm-dkms package compiles kernel modules which are very sensitive to ever-changing kernel versions, so the stock lucid package cannot be made to compile for future kernels. I do believe a backport of open-vm-tools (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports) to match the kernel backports would be very appropriate. Submitting a request for that would seem like a good idea. ** Changed in: open-vm-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to open-vm-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815089 Title: package open-vm-dkms 2010.02.23-236320-1 ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/815089/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 316441] Re: PHP session garbage collection
Using cron is hacky here. It can be too slow (thus the disk fills up), or usless (such as on a laptop with no sessions getting generated). How about something more dynamic with php counting dirty sessions, and cleaning them up synchronously at the end of a session? Let php handle this, when php needs to. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316441 Title: PHP session garbage collection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/316441/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 524447] Re: virsh save is very slow
Serge - why do you think this can't be SRU'd? It's already been accepted into lucid-proposed once, then verified, and the only reason it's not in lucid-updates is that it got superseded by a security upload before the 7-day testing period had elapsed. If you made a new upload to lucid-proposed based on the new security upload I see no reason why it couldn't be accepted and then copied to -updates after it's been verified and the 7-day testing period has ended.
Re: [Bug 817190] Re: other programs don't work right after installing guest machine drives
On 07/27/2011 02:09 PM, Serge Hallyn wrote: Thanks for reporting this bug. Could you please describe your environment a bit more? You said 'After installing ubuntu server and attempting to also install an ubuntu client using virt-manager' - did you install both of those as kvm VMs? Yes, but I also have VirtualBox installed with Windows 2000 loaded on it And did you have no sound issues before you created these VMs? I did once previously, not sure what caused it. I will try to remember. Similarly that time, that indicator applet showed a hollow volume icon and no volume control when clicking on it. This time the icon is solid and shown as muted and no volume control when clicking on it. Which releases are you using for the VMs? 10.10 32bit and 10.10 server 32bit. Can you give us the xml definition of the VMS? (virsh list to get the VM names, then 'virsh dumpxml nameX' to dump the definitions) attached. I will also try and locate this bug on launchpad where I submitted it and add them as an attachment. If kvm did something to confuse your host's audio daemon, then restarting it may fix it. Does rebooting the host fix your problem? Doesn't help. I also just tried reinstalling Gnome. I may also try KVM. ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Attachment added: KVM-Images.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817190/+attachment/2237680/+files/KVM-Images.png ** Attachment added: kvm-virsh-list--all.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817190/+attachment/2237681/+files/kvm-virsh-list--all.png ** Attachment added: virsh-dump-Client.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817190/+attachment/2237682/+files/virsh-dump-Client.txt ** Attachment added: virsh-dump-Server.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817190/+attachment/2237683/+files/virsh-dump-Server.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817190 Title: other programs don't work right after installing guest machine drives To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/817190/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
