[Bug 877150] Re: postfix debconf instructions typo

2012-02-18 Thread LaMont Jones
The wording was ambiguous, though correct, given that the postinst only
appends an entry. I've updated the text to be less ambiguous.

[Bug 932073] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.54-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-02-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi sadfasdf, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help
us make Ubuntu better. The relevant error from your report is:

AppArmor parser error for /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld in
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld at line 9: Could not open
'abstractions/mysql'

This file is part of 'apparmor', so its fairly confusing why it would be
missing, since apparmor_parser is also part of the package.

Perhaps you removed this file accidentally from
/etc/apparmor/profiles.d? If you did, you can re-install the file with

dpkg -i --force-confmiss /var/cache/apt/archives/apparmor_*.deb

2012-02-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi David. This appears to be the result of some broken packaging mid-
dev-cycle. Can you try removing the old bacula-common, and then re-
installing? I think that will solve your issue.

[Bug 812423] Re: mysql upstart job hangs if database directory not mounted

2012-02-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Jo!

Its possible that the upstart job is respawning over and over rather
than just failing, which it should. I think it might be helpful if you
could provide us with /var/log/syslog during the time where you seee
lines this hang. Usually the job will execute, and the run the post-
start which will wait 30 seconds for mysql to be started, and then fail.

Can you please give us the lines from /var/log/syslog during the time
where you were seeing the hang?

Thanks!

[Bug 933480] Re: Picks hmac-md5 over hmac-sha1

2012-02-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Chris, thanks for taking the time to file this bug and help us make
Ubuntu better.

According to RFC 6151, this is not an urgent matter:

http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6151

I do think that it is rather odd that hmac-md5 is still the default, but
the upstream openssh authors seems to find that acceptable, and so I
think we can also follow their lead. This is perhaps something to take
up with the OpenSSH developers on their mailing list.

Because it is not urgent and upstream has not seen fit to correct the
issue, I am marking this bug as Wishlist. It is definitely something to
consider, so I'm marking it as Confirmed.

Chris, it would be fantastic if you would forward this bug to the
OpenSSH mailing list to get the ball rolling on on a discussion. Once
you've done so, report back here the results of the discussion, and we
can mark this as Triaged (if there is a change to make) or perhaps close
it if upstream is not interested in changing the default.

2012-02-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Tapan, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better! MySQL 5.5 is not available for Ubuntu 11.04,
so using it in this context is not really a supported option. If you
have backported the official packages from precise, you should find that
mysql-client-5.1 and mysql-client-5.5 cannot be configured and installed
together because mysql-client-5.5 breaks and replaces mysql-client-5.1.
Apt should remove mysql-client-5.1 in favor of mysql-client-5.5.

Anyway, we can't really help with this since, as I said, mysql-5.5 is
not available in Ubuntu 11.04, so closing as Invalid.

[Bug 934011] Re: package postfix 2.7.0-1ubuntu0.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 75

2012-02-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Seetharam, thanks for taking the time to file this bug and help us
make Ubuntu better.

Your hostname is not valid as a mail host name, so postfix is refusing
to start. This is commonly attributed to a poorly configured cable modem
or router which hands out invalid hostnames with underscores in the
names or numbers as the first characters.

You can verify this by looking at /etc/hostname and /etc/mailname, both
files can be edited to be something more correct for postfix. Once it is
appropriate, 'dpkg --configure -a' should finish configuring postfix.

This is not a bug in postfix though, so closing as Invalid.

[Bug 810270] Re: AppArmor profiles need updates for /var/run → /run and /var/lock → /run/lock and /dev/shm → /run/shm

2012-02-18 Thread cideous
Continously I get errors of the form:

[ 4961.366862] type=1400 audit(1329587229.044:159): apparmor="DENIED"
operation="mknod" parent=1049 profile="/sbin/dhclient"

comm="dhclient" requested_mask="c" denied_mask="c" fsuid=0 ouid=0

Is this because this bug is still unsolved for dhclient, or is this
because of the way setup my filesystem. Note that I made /var a symlink
to a different partition. My root filesystem is an SSD and I followed
the recommendation not to have var on the SSD. So is this just because
I'm using a symlink here and I shouldn't have used it here?
