[Bug 1066144] Re: arguments to dbus_server_disconnect() were incorrect
Let me correct myself, I *did* just manage to reproduce it on amd64, but previously I thought when I tried, I did not see it show up on amd64, only on i386. Seems it is possible to reproduce it on amd64 after all. First boot: bug reboot: bug sudo apt-get purge postfix (also removes bsd-mailx): no bug sudo apt-get install postfix (bsd-mailx suggested, but not installed): bug sudo apt-get purge postfix (and reboot of course): no bug ... I can very reliably reproduce it when postfix is installed, and *not* reproduce it when postfix is removed. Note that this is still in vbox, haven't had a chance to test on hardware yet due to lots of respins, but I haven't forgotten. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066144 Title: arguments to dbus_server_disconnect() were incorrect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/+bug/1066144/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 978127] Re: incorrect time on node causes failed oauth
I just encountered this in precise MAAS, on brand new metal nodes which had dates sometime in 2011. Adding the NTP hack to the ephemeral image helped get around it. (Thanks for the recipe, Jeff! FYI, a public NTP server can work just as well, ntp.ubuntu.com in my case.) Scott Moser: "Basically, if we fail by 403 unauthorized, we set a "skew" (skew = local_current_time - server_response_time) and future requests will have the oauth header time adjusted by that skew." Here's the problem though. From what I saw, the MAAS server was returning 401 because of the skewed oauth, not 403. I can provide tcpdump captures if desired. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/978127 Title: incorrect time on node causes failed oauth To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/978127/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

You wrote: > there's tons of local installations that use internal DNS What do you mean by "internal DNS"? > It doesn't honor lookups against the local, specified by DHCP, DNS servers [...] Ubuntu 12.04 *does* use DNS nameserver addresses provided by DHCP. Ubuntu software works properly in Ubuntu 12.04 (except where it doesn't --- see the BTS). Third party software may fail to work properly, but it's up to the third party to fix that. [Bug 1052707] Re: ssh client ignores PasswordAuthentication no
Thanks for the log. Unfortunately I can't easily experiment with how to configure ssh to turn this off. But even though I can't directly help you configure it, I think this is a configuration issue based on not understanding exactly how the configuration options map to the ssh protocol, rather than a bug. I'm bumping the priority down to Medium since this is a less common, non-default configuration of ssh that has the issue. It might be worth asking the community for pointers, for example on askubuntu.com or upstream. [Bug 959037] Re: NM-controlled dnsmasq prevents other DNS servers from starting
This is a bad idea as it's been implemented, guys- there's tons of local installations that use internal DNS (My CenturyLink router or my day- job's setup, for example...) that this flatly breaks out of box. You've got to do a bunch of manual interventions for MANY corporate desktop and home desktop situations. It doesn't honor lookups against the local, specified by DHCP, DNS servers- it goes out to the DNS roots and goes from there. Works FINE for JUST surfing the 'net. It's an EPIC FAIL for normal, typical DNS use right now because there's no honoring any internal only DNS entries with it as it is out of box. It's nice that you're trying to make it easier for VPN, etc. but in the corporate desktop story, you're using OpenVPN, PPTP, or something like Sonicwall's solution. This means it's going to re-direct DNS on you ANYHOW, defeating the nice thing you're attempting here. If you think you're changing their minds, think again. As it stands, I'm going off to cripple this less than well thought out design decision so that things MIGHT work better on my setups. I suggest thinking through *ALL* prospective use-cases of things before implementing something like this in the future- it really, really ticks people off when it doesn't work like it's supposed to. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959037 Title: NM-controlled dnsmasq prevents other DNS servers from starting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/djbdns/+bug/959037/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

An afterthought: I think I've been thinking of this too much from the perspective of openssh. [Bug 1060900] Re: HTTP proxy config being created in /etc/apt/apt.conf on nodes
I think this is being done automatically by d-i as a result of the proxy being preseeded. In other words, if you automatically install an Ubuntu system without MAAS and preseed a proxy, you'll get the same result. What is the reason that MAAS should do something different from d-i here? [Bug 1027061] Re: Postfix upgrade to 2.9.3-2~12.04.1 changes configuration files
Even though I have the suspicion it is caused by not doing debconf (as puppet does not ask questions, but just installs with default values), I too can't reproduce it on a test-VM with the exact same debconf values as one of our servers. I have no idea what puppet does to cause this behavior and I'm also sure the problem is there, as I've seen it happen again later, but I know that something that can't be reproduced can't be fixed. You can close this ticket if you want. If I find a way to reproduce it in the future, I will reopen it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027061 Title: Postfix upgrade to 2.9.3-2~12.04.1 changes configuration files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/+bug/1027061/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1052707] Re: ssh client ignores PasswordAuthentication no
Although I'm not sure, I think PasswordAuthentication is a specific ssh protocol mode, and a separate mode is KbdInteractiveAuthentication which technically isn't PasswordAuthentication but could still give you a password prompt depending on what the server does. Perhaps your FreeBSD server is doing this? Please could you try ssh -o PasswordAuthentication=no -o KbdInteractiveAuthentication=no, and if that still doesn't work then please add -vvv, obscure any sensitive information and then paste the result? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1052707 Title: ssh client ignores PasswordAuthentication no To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1052707/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1027061] Re: Postfix upgrade to 2.9.3-2~12.04.1 changes configuration files
Marking Incomplete, since others have tried failed to reproduce, and it seems likely that this is a local configuration issue rather than a bug in Postfix.
