[Bug 1104691] [NEW] migrating from nova-volume is non-obvious
Public bug reported: Today we upgraded an Openstack cloud from essex to folsom to grizzly. Switching from nova-volume to cinder was somewhat non-trivial. I'm not sure how much help is reasonable to expect from the Ubuntu packaging, but it seems that perhaps some of the steps involved (http://wiki.openstack.org/MigrateToCinder is the guide we ended up using) could be handled there. ** Affects: cloud-archive Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: cinder (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: canonistack ** Also affects: cloud-archive Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: - Today we upgraded an Openstack cloud from essex to grizzly. [Bug 1104589] [NEW] python-websockify UNAVAILABLE
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Raring (13.04 Development) Grizzly Trunk Testing PPA The "python-nova" (2013.1+git201301241132~raring-0ubuntu1) package depends on the "python-websockify" package which is UNAVAILABLE with current PPA & Ubuntu Raring sources. I believe the existing "websockify" package (that's without the python prefix) provides the needed python components and is already a suggestion of the "nova-novncproxy" and a dependency of the "novnc" package. [Bug 1104584] [NEW] cinderclient fails when there are more than one volume endpoint
Public bug reported: After upgrading my installation from Folsom to Grizzly I received the below error message when attempting to create a volume using the EC2 API (I did not verify with the Nova API). I have configured two regions; one each with a cinder endpoint. This works for all other services except for cinder currently. The endpoints are seen to be ambiguous because the cinder client (or nova's use of the client) does not take region into consideration. The client uses a servicetype:servicename:endpointtype tuple to determine whether an endpoint is unique. /var/log/nova/nova-api.log: 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 Traceback (most recent call last): 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nova/api/ec2/__init__.py", line 486, in __call__ 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 result = api_request.invoke(context) 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nova/api/ec2/apirequest.py", li ne 79, in invoke 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 result = method(context, **args) 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nova/api/ec2/cloud.py", line 79 0, in create_volume 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 **create_kwargs) 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nova/volume/cinder.py", line 21 7, in create 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 item = cinderclient(context).volumes.create(size, **kwargs) 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nova/volume/cinder.py", line 65 , in cinderclient 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 endpoint_type=endpoint_type) 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/cinderclient/service_catalog.py ", line 75, in url_for 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 endpoints=matching_endpoints) 2013-01-24 22:48:26 23673 TRACE nova.api.ec2 AmbiguousEndpoints: AmbiguousEndpoints: [{u'adminURL': u'http://10.55.58.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', u'region': u'lcy01', u'id': u'a60223bd41df4cdf8fb28dcdffe5adad', 'serviceName': u'cinder', u'internalURL': u'http://10.55.58.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', u'publicURL': u'https://cinder-lcy01.internal/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49'}, {u'adminURL': u'http://10.55.62.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', u'region': u'lcy02', u'id': u'14de3dace2284d4eaf95576ae7e2e40d', 'serviceName': u'cinder', u'internalURL': u'http://10.55.62.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', u'publicURL': u'https://cinder-lcy02.internal/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49'}] The endpoints prettyprinted: [ {'adminURL': 'http://10.55.58.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', 'region': 'lcy01', 'id': 'a60223bd41df4cdf8fb28dcdffe5adad', 'serviceName': 'cinder', 'internalURL': 'http://10.55.58.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', 'publicURL': 'https://cinder-lcy01.internal/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49'}, {'adminURL': 'http://10.55.62.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', 'region': 'lcy02', 'id': '14de3dace2284d4eaf95576ae7e2e40d', 'serviceName': 'cinder', 'internalURL': 'http://10.55.62.1:8776/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49', 'publicURL': 'https://cinder-lcy02.internal/v1/df473f958e4f47949282696966e58f49'} ] Workaround: 1. [Bug 1103195] Re: MAAS WebUI crashes when installing maas-region-controller only
To ensure that we accept as "master" only the cluster controller on the local machine, can the region compare the UUID it's given against the UUID it can see on the filesystem? Even if the region is in an HA configuration, the cluster controller will connect to localhost and therefore the region app server reached will be the one on the same machine, and thus able to see the same UUID. Then we can probably get rid of the special cases for maas_url and whatnot. If this isn't suitable, then I suggest going with rvba's second proposal: > - we fix the two problems I mention above ( a): only accept the > first controller to connect if it's connecting from localhost, b) > update nodegroup.maas_url for the first controller if the > controller does not connect from localhost). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103195 Title: MAAS WebUI crashes when installing maas-region-controller only To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1103195/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1015104] [NEW] package winbind 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is a systemic problem. Under the previous version I had installed the "lexmark-inkjet-09-driver" package which installed using a shell tar script. Unfortunately the description had one line with just a space in it. Not a blank line: a space. Now, 'dpkg' could report to me that this particular package "had a blank line" in the Description field of that particular package. If it could do that, why couldn't it just overcome this difficulty? And the line DID have a space in it! (I tried to use '}' and '{' in 'vi' to get to it, and failed. 'Dpkg' should be able to understand the same thing.) When I tried to install 12.04 over the previous version, MANY packages failed to install. They are now ghost images in the update manager, and I haven't yet figured how to get them to install. The user interface is missing such little things as the logout / lock screeen / reboot menu and any way to run apps that were not already buttons on the desktop. Help? Yes, _I_ know how to find the programs and run them from the shell, but not everyone in my family is willing to do that! Thanks! [Bug 516061] Re: configure command line missing from phpinfo
I think removing standard, expected information as to not "confuse" users is a bad move; issues with ambiguity in the build options are entirely separate from accurately displaying what they actually are. [Bug 1103656] Re: Update Precise drbd8-utils to 8.3.13 for the 12.04.2 release
I'm not the reporter but I am a daily user of DRBD on precise. If someone is running the old kernel then they should use the matching older version of drbd8-utils. So if the module in the kernel is 8.3.11 then the tools should be also or if the module is 8.3.13 then the tools should be 8.3.13 also. I'm a total newbie about packaging but is there a way to make it so drbd8-utils version 8.3.11 is required to be upgraded if you go to kernel >= 3.5 and drbd is installed? [Bug 1103195] Re: MAAS WebUI crashes when installing maas-region-controller only
Doing what I suggest above would indeed fix the immediate problem but this leads to bigger problems: The code assumes in two places (see bellow) that the first cluster to connect is the cluster controller installed on the same machine as the region controller. This is based on the assumption that there is always a "master" cluster controller installed alongside the region controller.: a) the first controller to connect is automatically accepted (this might not be what we want if the first controller is connecting from a remote location) b) the code that accepts the first cluster assumes it's connecting from localhost and so does not bother trying to update nodegroup.maas_url (the url that the cluster should use to contact the MAAS server). I think we've got two choices here: - in the packaging, we reflect the assumption I told about above and we add maas-cluster-controller as a dependency of maas-region-controller. - we fix the two problems I mention above ( a): only accept the first controller to connect if it's connecting from localhost, b) update nodegroup.maas_url for the first controller if the controller does not connect from localhost).

[Bug 1103656] Re: Update Precise drbd8-utils to 8.3.13 for the 12.04.2 release
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I think this needs attention, so setting Importance to High. Usually SRU policy generally frowns on this kind of update, but it may make sense given that the kernel is being bumped. I appreciate you bringing it up. I believe it will be possible to run the old kernel. Will the new drbd work with both? ** Changed in: drbd8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to drbd8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103656 Title: Update Precise drbd8-utils to 8.3.13 for the 12.04.2 release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/drbd8/+bug/1103656/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Prepare a cloud-config script with the directives (example cloud-config script used by lp:auto-package-testing attached): apt_update: true apt_upgrade: true 3. Initialize the cloud image with this cloud-config script EXPECTED RESULT: Installation finish ACTUAL RESULT The service cloud-final is never executed and the flag boot-finished is not present. cloud-init logs of a failed installation attached.
