[Bug 1490796] [NEW] cloud-init must check/format Azure empheral disks each boot
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04.3 (20150805) on Azure with cloud-init package 0.7.5-0ubuntu1.8. On Azure cloud-init prepares the ephemeral device as ext4 for the first boot. However, if the VM is ever moved to another Host for any reason, then a new ephemeral disk might be provided to the VM. This ephemeral disk is NTFS formatted, so for subsequent reboots cloud-init must detect and reformat the new disk as ext4. However, with cloud-init 0.7.5-0ubuntu1.8 subsequent boots may result in fuse mounted NTFS file system. This issue occurred in earlier versions of cloud-init, but was fixed with bug 1292648 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud- init/+bug/1292648). So this appears to be a regression. Repro: - Create an Ubuntu 14.04.3 VM on Azure - Resize the VM to a larger size (this typically moves the VM) - Log in and run 'blkid' to show an ntfs formatted ephemeral disk: # blkid /dev/sdb1: LABEL="Temporary Storage" UUID="A43C43DD3C43A95E" TYPE="ntfs" Expected results: - After resizing the ephemeral disk should be formatted as ext4. ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490796 Title: cloud-init must check/format Azure empheral disks each boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1490796/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Are you sure that the Ubuntu OpenSSH should be running 'inside' the crouton environment? Does crouton run things in a VM, or chroot, or full containers? [Bug 1478087] Re: ISST-LTE: aureport -l couldn't print out login info on ubuntu 14.04.3
The bug is not in aureport or libaudit. aureport looks for AUDIT_USER_LOGIN events in the audit log but we're not generating them in login programs due to libaudit support not being enabled at build time or, in the case of lightdm, missing libaudit support. Note that we are generating an AUDIT_LOGIN event from the kernel upon login but aureport and friends are looking for AUDIT_USER_LOGIN events from userspace. This will require changes to a several packages. So far, I've been able to determine that openssh needs to be built with --enable-audit=linux and lightdm needs to be patched to generate AUDIT_USER_LOGIN events. The lightdm pam configs may also need updating for calling out to pam_loginuid.so but I'm not sure if that's required at this point. The shadow package was recently modified to enable libaudit support (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shadow/1:4.1.5.1-1.1ubuntu5) so that change will need to be SRU'ed. The util-linux source package can generate AUDIT_USER_INFO events from its login program but we're using the login program from the shadow source package. After looking at the util-linux source, I don't see a reason to build it against libaudit at this time. ** Also affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: shadow (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1478087 Title: ISST-LTE: aureport -l couldn't print out login info on ubuntu 14.04.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audit/+bug/1478087/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1473903] Re: parted will generate two devices when adding one partition on mpath device
Thierry, could you please simply attach the patch you used instead? I've been looking into this today, I can't reproduce the issue with the default settings (without user_friendly_names), as expected. I can see how this would happen with friendly-names though, because then the parts of dm_p_separator.patch that apply this separator only if the device name ends in a number would get run. Now, my only issue is that I'm not sure what else this might break if we were to change parted to use '-part' instead of 'p' as a separator. It would at least need to be checked against the installer to make sure it doesn't break install (though I don't expect it to). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1473903 Title: parted will generate two devices when adding one partition on mpath device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1473903/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1356113] Re: PHP5 session clean cron job causes OOM
I just noticed 800+ processes on my raspberry pi 2 ubuntu 14.04, all were spawns from this cron. Although cron script is bad in terms of cpu use, I see it's set to run every 30 minutes. So I am also thinking something else is also going on, probably some hanging with lsof anyways. This script can be run once a day (not 48 times a day as currently). Session information is stored in /tmp so if you don't get it full, you may even disable it completely, especially if you don't use php much. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356113 Title: PHP5 session clean cron job causes OOM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1356113/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
