[Bug 1565043] [NEW] Please enable HTTP/2 in NGINX for Xenial

2016-04-01 Thread Thomas Ward
Public bug reported:

The Security team has recently given the OK to enable HTTP/2 in NGINX
for Xenial.

Please activate it for nginx-core, nginx-extras, nginx-full, and nginx-
light.

Upstream, in Debian, it is being enabled for all versions as part of the
dynamic modules changes; even though dynamic modules are not being enabled
here, it would be good to ahve this enabled for all flavors. Debian anonscm
git commit for this is
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/nginx.git/tree/debian/rules?h=dyn#n53,
 with https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=816095 being the Debian
bug that has a 'pending' change.

[Bug 1565043] Re: Please enable HTTP/2 in NGINX

2016-04-01 Thread Thomas Ward
Before I enable HTTP/2 in nginx-light, I will discuss with the Server
team. Debian does, indeed, have it enabled in nginx-full and nginx-
extras, and nginx-core will have it as it closely mirrors nginx-full.

This will be considered for the next upload, otherwise.

[Bug 1565003] [NEW] snmptrapd fails to build with MySQL 5.7

2016-04-01 Thread Lars Tangvald
Public bug reported:

MySQL 5.7 restricts which symbols are exported and useable from the
outside.

The function load_defaults, using in apps/snmptrapd_sql.c is not exported from
libmysqlclient20, so the build will fail.
However, the function my_load_defaults is exported, and has the same signature
except for an extra flags parameter, which can be set to 0.

The attached patch should allow snmptrapd to build with MySQL 5.7

[Bug 1564831] Re: s390x: error booting instance

2016-04-01 Thread Marco Pavone
Regarding issue 2), this is most probably due to the cpu mode setting:

The nova.conf needs the setting "cpu_mode = none" in order to not have it set

Yep, we're going to be php7.0 only, as stated prior. Sorry for the
silence, I've been heads-down updating packages and dropping ones that
are not supported -- we are down to about 95 reverse-dependencies
holding php5 in the archive; I'm hopeful to get through that list today.

That is more the case by happenstance; php5 is in universe because to
remove it directly would have broken much of the php part of the archive
:)

[Bug 1564922] [NEW] Warning messages during package installation

2016-04-01 Thread Dr. Jens Rosenboom
Public bug reported:

This log is from installing the pre-release packages, but I got the same
warnings when installing 10.0.5 earlier:

Not sure whether this is a bug in deb-systemd-invoke really.

[Bug 1379567] Re: maas-proxy is an open proxy with no ACLs; it should add networks automatically

2016-04-01 Thread LaMont Jones
For the 1.9 backport of this fix, rather than introduce a schema
migration (as done for 2.0), we'll simply allow all known subnets to use
the proxy, with a note in the proxy config to disable unwanted subnets
with iptables.

[Bug 1564917] [NEW] Default task limit from systemd is too low for ceph

2016-04-01 Thread Dr. Jens Rosenboom
Public bug reported:

When started via systemd, there is a default limit of 512 Tasks, and it
seems that each thread counts as a different task:

# systemctl status ceph-osd@2

* ceph-osd@2.service - Ceph object storage daemon
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/ceph-osd@.service; enabled; vendor
preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Fri 2016-04-01 13:23:58 UTC; 12s ago
  Process: 31618 ExecStartPre=/usr/lib/ceph/ceph-osd-prestart.sh --cluster
${CLUSTER} --id 2 --setuser ceph --setgroup ceph (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
 Main PID: 31667 (ceph-osd)
Tasks: 150 (limit: 512)
   CGroup: /system.slice/system-ceph\x2dosd.slice/ceph-osd@2.service
   `-31667 /usr/bin/ceph-osd -f --cluster ceph --id 2 --setuser ceph
--setgroup ceph

With larger clusters, ceph-osd may need more threads, so this limit
should be raised in the service definition.

This may also affect ceph-mon or ceph-mds.

Seeing as 10.0.7 is Debian now, I can look at pulling that in. We have
a FFE pending. The Security team indicates that should happen shortly.
Once that happens we are planning on a straight sync for 10.0.7. So
barring import issues and/or late testing, I think that we can land
10.0.7 for 16.04.

There should not be any others, as mysql-5.7 only exists in xenial-
proposed, and we test packages against xenial-release as much as

Yeah. We're planning on patching MySQL to turn that into a warning
instead of an error. Upstream may be willing to do that for future 5.7
releases for us as well. Since the alternative is to adjust
dbconfig-common, and I'm told that is pretty invasive.

I'm not sure what this means in terms of blocking other things. I think
it'd be acceptable to allow other packages through proposed despite a
MySQL dep8 test failure. We'll hold MySQL until its own dep8 failures
are fixed.

[Bug 1422388] Re: Fetch passwords from CloudStack virtual router

2016-04-01 Thread Swen Brueseke
It looks like there is a problem with resetting the password form CloudStack UI.
After the first boot of the vm I can log into the server as user debian using
the password provided by CloudStack. But when I stop the vm and reset the
password via CloudStack UI the new password is not working.

[Bug 1564853] [NEW] xendomains fails to suspend VMs not running

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
Public bug reported:

`/etc/init.d/xendomains stop` fails on xen-4.1.6.1 as it tries to parse
the output of "xm list", which has a varying number of columns for
running and already shut down VMs:

For managed inactive domains `xm list` does not output a domain-ID and a
state.

| # xm list
| NameID Mem VCPUs State
Time(s)
| Domain-0 0 3884 2 r- 71.6
| yyy 512 1 0.0
| xxx 7 512 1 -b 1.1

Also cpu is not output.

Rewrite parseln() to use IFS for splitting and use number of output columns to
parse the lines.

[Bug 1101187] Re: in case ow two networks on the same bridge nova overwrites dnsmasq config

2016-04-01 Thread Tom Fifield
Hi,

nova-network was designed for relatively simple networking use cases, so
it struggles to support things like this. However, for what you're
trying to achieve the neutron project should work very well! Check out
the networking guide at : http://docs.openstack.org/networking-guide/
and see about moving to neutron for this.

Given that this bug is a few years old now, I think it's time to close
it with our apologies.

Should have also mentioned that this is running in a LXD container;
/proc/cpuinfo is empty for some reason which I think is the root cause

[Bug 1564832] [NEW] Apparmor profile for NTPd needs to allow read/write access to /dev/ppsX

2016-04-01 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
Public bug reported:

Am trying to get NTP to work with the kernel PPS subsystem, for high-
accuracy GPS-based clocks. On startup of NTPd I see this:

Apr 1 11:18:58 doorway kernel: [ 300.387443] audit: type=1400
audit(1459505938.042:9): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open"
profile="/usr/sbin/ntpd" name="/dev/pps0" pid=1668 comm="ntpd"
requested_mask="wr" denied_mask="wr" fsuid=0 ouid=0

Adding this to the usr.sbin.ntpd apparmor profile eliminated the error:

  /dev/pps[0-9]* rw,

I'm not sure why ntpd needs *write* access to ppsN though, perhaps that can be
improved.

[Bug 1564812] [NEW] Disable sudo io logging for rootwrap

2016-04-01 Thread Dr. Jens Rosenboom
Public bug reported:

Cinder, Neutron and Nova use rootwrappers that allow selected commands
to be executed with root privileges via sudo. If an adminstrator chooses
to enable sudo logging for security reasons, this will cause a lot of
files being created, leading to filled up file systems pretty fast. This
could be circumvented by changing the entry in
/etc/sudoers.d/cinder_sudoers like this:

--- /etc/sudoers.d/cinder_sudoers 2016-03-30 11:20:28.0 +

[Bug 1564790] [NEW] blktap2 fails to terminate with filenames containing blanks

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
Public bug reported:

Shutting down a domU with xen-4.1.6.1 doesn't terminate the corresponding
blktap2

[Bug 1564792] [NEW] Somtimes 1st domU fails to start due to hotplug race

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
Public bug reported:

Sometimes qemu/the kernel takes too long for the first domain to start with
xen-4.1.6.1.
The hotplug script then finds the device still in state 1=Initialising and
aborts.

[Bug 1564785] [NEW] hw/dma: Print error message only once

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
Public bug reported:

Some Windows VMs triggers qemu-dm to print a log message multiple times
and fills up the log-file with 50 MiB / minute.

It's enough to print the message only once.

The patch was sent upstream but I never got feedback:

[Bug 1006655] Re: Can't convert to vmdk with the streamOptimized subformat

2016-04-01 Thread Thiago Martins
I have tried, many times, to use qemu-img to create StreamOptimized for
VMWare ESXi 6.0 OVAs.

It does NOT work.

After days of research, I replaced qemu-img, by vboxmanage, then, it
worked!

Now, I'm using something this:

--
vboxmanage convertfromraw packer/output-vm.raw packer/output-vm-disk1.vmdk
--format vmdk --variant Stream
--

I also had to edit the headers, with dd:

---
dd if=output-vm-disk1.vmdk of=output-vm-disk1.descriptor bs=1 skip=512
count=1024
sed -i -e 's/ide/lsilogic/g' output-vm-disk1.descriptor
dd conv=notrunc,nocreat if=output-vm-disk1.descriptor of=output-disk1.vmdk bs=1
seek=512 count=1024
---

This is the only way to build StreamOptimized VMDKs, for inclusion
inside of OVA, that works on VMWare 6.0.

The qemu-img can not be used.

Here is my full solution to this problem (if the same problem):

https://github.com/tmartinx/svauto/blob/dev/image-factory.sh#L510

I'm just not entirely sure if we're talking about the same problem
here...

Cheers!
Thiago

[Bug 1564782] [NEW] Fix hex decoding in sxp.Parser

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
Public bug reported:

If a managed domain is creates with a name/description containing
non-ASCII-characters, `xm list` fails in xen-4.1.6.1
This is caused by "xend" implementing its own broken hex-decoder.

[Bug 1564451] Re: User processes are counted towards systemd limit for sshd processes

2016-04-01 Thread Dr. Jens Rosenboom
Thanks to some help in #systemd I could find the cause: On the affected
systems libpam-systemd was not installed. So maybe it would make sensu
to turn this into a stronger dependency than "recommended", at least in
combination with openssh-server.

[Bug 1564777] [NEW] xenstore memory corruption

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
Public bug reported:

The C implementation of xenstored in xen-4.1.6.1 is missing commit
de8c3e826499dbf69d01ee935a67b5d67a131496 from xen-4.6:
  tools/xenstore: Correct use of va_end() after va_copy()
This leads to data corruption which only triggers very rarely; we were never
able to reproduce it in our test environment, but we had crashes of xenstored
nearly each month.

[Bug 1515145] Re: xm migrate --live panics hypervisor

2016-04-01 Thread Philipp Hahn
The first patch does not work!

The backport was quiet complicates as that patch is in the middle of
4) eca988d x86/mm: merge the shadow, hap and log-dirty locks into a single
paging lock.
3) 5bf494a x86/mm: Make MM locks recursive.
2) 301493f x86/mm: dedup the various copies of the shadow lock functions
1) 3b0bcb8 x86/mm/p2m: Move p2m code in HVMOP_[gs]et_mem_access into p2m.c

2) and 4) are already in debian/patches/xsa97-hap-4.1-prereq.patch, so
the patch also contains the parts from eca988d which where skipped as
5bf494a was not back-ported.

This patch also requires a back-port of
3b0bcb890955e1c3e2fde10a026c5d85481e6fb8 (1) as compilation failes
otherwise - I'll attach that next - as an alternative it could be enough
to '#include "../mm-locks.h"' instead, but I didn't test that.

** Patch added: "Fixed patch v2"

[Bug 1564451] Re: User processes are counted towards systemd limit for sshd processes

2016-04-01 Thread Dr. Jens Rosenboom
Hmm, on a cloud instance this looks different, even when logged in
multiple time, the output only shows the master process:

# systemctl status ssh
● ssh.service - OpenBSD Secure Shell server
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/ssh.service; enabled; vendor preset:
enabled)
Active: active (running) since Fri 2016-04-01 06:00:11 UTC; 1h 44min ago
 Main PID: 971 (sshd)
Tasks: 1 (limit: 512)
   Memory: 5.3M
  CPU: 169ms
   CGroup: /system.slice/ssh.service
   └─971 /usr/sbin/sshd -D

Package versions are identical in both systems:

root@jr-xeni1:~# apt-cache policy systemd
systemd:
  Installed: 229-3ubuntu1
  Candidate: 229-3ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 229-3ubuntu1 500
500 http://nova.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
root@jr-xeni1:~# apt-cache policy openssh-server
openssh-server:
  Installed: 1:7.2p2-2
  Candidate: 1:7.2p2-2
  Version table:
 *** 1:7.2p2-2 500
500 http://nova.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64

So I'm wondering what else could be causing the different behaviour
here.

@nacc,

I'm really sorry to pester as you must be v. busy at this point but is
there a definitive word on what's going to happen with 16.04 GA? It's
only 3 weeks away and people are having to plan out what release they'll
be deploying in the near future.

FWIW as a service provider, I'm squarely with @jegr : choice (as in two
supported versions as is the case in beta 2) would be much preferable!
