No, use the same username/[assword. You may need to do new ssh key though

Happy to hear you got things working.

The code of conduct is strictly for being able to use your Launchpad
account to the fullest (upload source code, and building stuff on your
own PPAs), so it is not related to an installed system you have at all.
But, you do need to keep a copy of your gnupg and ssh keys. If you lost
them, you'll need to make new ones and upload them to your launchpad
account. However, you will only need those when dealing with source code
(I think), so you may not actually need them, depending on what you are
aiming at doing. Doing testing doesn't actually require all of that - I
should find out exactly, and make stuff clearer on our wiki.

It was the hard-disk don't know why but when I change the hard-disk I
could install from a USB drive.

I install wiley well... I had to type live to get it going. Live session
worked fine... install went fine. Error installing TVTime... already
reported but the TV works better then ever... :-) Going to try to make a
movie to see how it goes.

Question

Since I'm on a new system, Do I need to do the code of conduct thing again?

Re: [ubuntu-studio-devel] Call for Final Beta Testing

2015-09-26 Thread lukefromdc
Some "hybrid UEFI" boards are really picky about what they will boot from! I've
got one
that can boot UDB sticks but usually rejects the CD or DVD drive no matter what
is on
the disk, and also rejects some older USB images that work in other machines.

Before condemning the motherboard, put a hard drive from a known good Linux
system on it and see if it will boot. This trick works only with Linux and not
with
Windows due to Windows both being a microkernel and having corporate checks
against
changing machines.

Re: [ubuntu-studio-devel] Call for Final Beta Testing

2015-09-26 Thread Grant Frank Burton
I think it's the motherboard because I can start two other computers
with the iso-USB stick and with the live-dvd in a usb-dvd-drive.
I tried ubuntu 12, 14, ubuntustudio 14, 15 and windows. It's not possible
to boot this system via the usb port and I tried all six ports.

Also sometimes the computer restarts when I plug things in to the usb

So first I'll try to re-seat the motherboard in the case. If that don't
work I flash it. if that don't work I'll replace it

There's something wrong with my motherboard usb ports. I tried several zip
drives and a usb-dvd... none worked. Connected a sata dvd and it installed
but. I couldn't connect to the internet during the install and the
option to upgrade 14 was unavailable.

Going to flash the bios and try again... if it don't work I'll have to wait
till Monday to get another motherboard.

I think the question is what tool are you using to print the ISO to a USB

For example:

The Final Beta had no such errors, and there haven't been any more
builds since. You are doing something wrong, if you can't get it to
boot.

Hi,

I am just "Mr. Mildly-Technical User" who is free software advocate.

I am having boot problems (long story) right now and won't be able to
take part in this today.

I will try to help with testing more in the future.

Also, is it helpful to test on a MacBookPro (5,5 I think)? That is what
I am stuck with at the moment (probably the boot problems have something
to do with it "being a Mac").

Love what you do!

It's getting close to release time, so I'm marking ours ready.

It's still good to test the ISOs, if for no other reason than to gain
the experience and learn how it's done.

[ubuntu-studio-devel] Call for Final Beta Testing

2015-09-24 Thread Kaj Ailomaa
Today is FInal Beta testing day. Release is due later today. So, please,
help testing our ISOs.

*Short instructions on how to test:*

1. Get a launchpad account, if you haven't, at http://launchpad.net
2. Head to http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com, and login
3.a For the AMD64 for test cases, go to
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/346/builds/102968/testcases
3.b For the i386 test cases, go to
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/346/builds/102969/testcases
4. Make sure your to do a checksum on your ISO before you report bugs.
5. If you find bugs, check at the bottom of the test case page if the
bug was already reported, then make sure to include it in your test
results. If no one had reported the bug, in a terminal, do: ubuntu-bug

6. Even if all tests are completed, but the build is not yet marked
*ready*, you may still help testing and submitting bug reports.

*Long instructions:*

I just got a page together, which should have all the info you need
about how to do ISO testing. It's a bit more extensive, but I recommend
a read through for those who are new to testing ISOs.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/Testing/ISOTesting

For even more extensive information, please check out:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/ISO

That's it!
