If you click on the photo, you could see it full size. I wouldn't show
the complete stomp box or at least blur the brand name, better also
eliminate the effect model names and what is readable on the left side
and above of the camera lense. At least also blur the brand name of the
screentone above the Turbo Overdrive and the brand name and perhaps
type name of the white layout marker. On other photos some other fonts
might be readable if you zoom in. I was careful, but not carefully
enough and considered that anyway just a section of a photo should be
shown.

No, this is the default of the iPad camera. It is conceived to use this
photos as a template to either make something else, similar to this or
to use one of those photos by editing, manipulating it.

It's still a matter of taste, but now it's on-topic.

That isn't necessary. I would use the foto below the blue/orange
graphic drop the logs and drop the "lines", just keep the colouration
and the icons.

Another possibility would be to not use a photo at all, but to keep
this graphic as it is, with just positioning the 3 icons above the
"lines" and to add some contrast to the icons, but keep them still below
the blue/orange.

Ralf

It's very nice now. I really like how you used the pencil in the end.
having the mandelbulb pattern toned down is nice.

Would you (geirdal) mind trying with ralf's photo in the head section? :)

Those are pretty and a bit reminescent of one of the early UbuntuStudio
backgrounds, though at far higher true resolution.

Hi,

I made some photos showing a potpourri of some of my music
instruments, stomp boxes, a camera, airbrushes, brushes, water colour,
screentones, negatives and things like this, in one shot. I cared about
not to show brand names, but missed that on all photos the brand of a
layout marker is visible, but it's easy to blur the brand name. Perhaps
a section of one of those photos could be used as a background, at
least it is an example for what is closer to Ubuntu Studio, than a gas
mask or logs. It takes a while to run iTunes in virtualbox, so I have to
upload the photos later today.

I don't had time to arrange something, no good light and the camera is
from an iPad, so don't expect good quality of anything. Even the
selection of tools is not that good, but a guitar and layout marker is
what was at hand, without rummaging around and rearranging.

No license yet the license of those photos could be what ever should be
needed, assumed somebody would use those photos for the artwork. Again,
the photos are an odd snapshot, nothing good.

Regards,
Ralf

The cyberpunk in me is loving the aesthetic but I think those pictures
are too strong and evocative to fit in the project. Here I read:
pandemic, first person shooter, terminator, destroyed-city. Our tag-line
is "Linux for creative humans" and we are definitely peaceful, positive
and creative. I should have mentioned "no weapons or violence" the other
day on IRC, sorry about that.

However, thank you for giving it time and consideration. I like the
tones and how you put the category icons. I will be on the look for
imagery and forward it to you. If you feel that it is too much of a
compromise with your artistry to work towards something smoother more
neutral, feel free to share the gimp files with us so we can build upon
them. The basis of your work is very good.

I have to agree with previous opinions here. My reaction to the
pictures, especially the man with the rifle isn't "this is what you can
do" but "how is this relevant?". :( I like the overall compositions
through. :)

You are doing the mail right, but as you can see with my reply we are
allowed to remove text that isn't relevant. You can even remove it all
or add a few lines from another reply, given you remember to credit when
the mail was sent and the person who wrote it. We do bottom posting when
we keep someone's answer or parts of someone's answer because it gets
easier to read the archive and the digests since we read text from top
to bottom.

Now your images:
