Re: Instalando Ubuntu.Studio
Hi, folks! Not sure if I'm being a good helper here (I lack experience). However, as one of a few Portuguese speaking guys on this list, I'm trying to help. I've written in English so that you experienced guys can correct me if I said something stupid... and also, of course, because this is an international mailing list. Otávio, you should address this list in English, so that everyone can read and post. Otávio, se tiver algum problema com o inglês, pode me escrever. Como essa lista é de caráter internacional, vou responder em inglês aqui, OK? Having an Internet connection you should be able to upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10. But first, AFAIK, you need to apply all updates on 7.04 before moving to 7.10. Check this: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading and see if you still find any problem. Have you checked the Ubuntu (not Studio) forums for anyone with a problem similar to yours? Can you describe it? > E nao tem leitor de DVD. > Gostaria de saber como poderia transformar o 7.04 em um U.Studio, atraves da > imagem ISO que esta em meu HD. > Ha alguma forma em extrair o ISO e de algum jeito faze lo instalar... Perhaps, if you find a way of mounting your Studio ISO as a virtual drive (any hint?) you can add a "deb [dvd_drive_mountpoint_here]/dists/feisty main" line to your /etc/sources.list and your Synaptic may be able to do an offline update from plain Ubuntu to the Studio version. Anyway, I believe you should do this only after upgrading your Ubuntu to 7.10. > Ou extraido, como poderia enxuta lo em faze lo caber num CD,pra poder ser > bootavel pra instalacao e depois,ja num ambiente U.Studio, dai atualiza lo e > completar sua instalacao. Don't think there's enough non-essential stuff to remove from the ISO to make yours fit on a CD instead of a DVD. Anyone?! Fwd: Instalando Ubuntu.Studio
Re: M-Audio Ozone Academic patch
I've been away from the list for a while, so I haven't seen any of your posts, but I'll see if I have the old threads archived. I'm surprised though, the M-audio ozone "just worked" for me, I'm using 7.10. What kind of problems were you having? I just bought a generic 1x midi-usb interface on Ebay. Is there an issue with midi communication over the USB port? -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
AutoTuner for Ardour
I'm looking for a auto-tune plugin for ardour. I'm using studio 7.10 It needs to be free, so I'll probably have to use GSnap, right? So, is it very hard to install GSnap? If not, how do I do it? if installed to USB-Flash then card-auto-detection won't work for other machines?
did a normal CUI install of HardyAltAlpha4 to an USB-Flash @ ARTiGO(a machine with VT1708) i knew that the HD-Audio thang on this machine will bring me extra thangs to do and yes ALSA worked fine but Jack has PCM not detected problem .. but this is an another story... even if could solve this and because i could and changed the set-up for this machine then the installed system will only work for my ARTiGO? the idea of having my ARTiGO storage-less was to have my system that will work on almost most of the other person's machine ... and that was why i chose USB-Flash ... if once installed then lose the auto-detection aspect of Ubuntu is true ... gee .. i was just a stupid guy .. was i? -- '2+ http://micro.ispretty.com -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
M-Audio Ozone Academic patch
Greetings, Some of you may remember my sometime posts about attempting to get the M-Audio Ozone Academic MIDI keyboard/audio interface to work in Ubuntu Studio, or any other distro, for that matter. Some folks in my local LUG discovered that a kernel patch had been written to allow the MIDI port to be recognized, and I have spent the last month unsuccessfully trying to boot the patched kernel. Someone at the January LUG meeting patched the kernel on his Slackware laptop, and had TiMidity playing from my keyboard, but I have not had this kind of success. Here is a link to something about this patch: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=2ea547dcdd4216370f00dd65a18ee5a0271646a0 It may be that this is scheduled to become part of the general kernel; I don't know how those decisions get made. Seeing "torvalds" in that URL makes me wonder if it's a done deal, and that eventually it will trickle down to Ubuntu. If this patch is not destined to become part of the Linux kernel, I would like to know the how to best lobby the Ubuntu Studio devs to include this patch in a future version of U/S. These keyboards are likely to become available on the used market, as they are part of a bundle that Digidesign is discontinuing. People who want to get started in Linux audio could benefit from kernel support for a basic do-it-all USB device that may become common and inexpensive. In any case, it would be a good idea for me to learn to apply this patch to U/S, and I would welcome responses from Ubuntu Studio users who have successfully applied kernel patches. Where are the best how-tos and tutorials for this?
