Re: [ubuntu-studio-users] Audio Issues
Hello Ralf Thank you so much for your emails. My build after executing the command you suggested: No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 19.04 Release: 19.04 Codename: disco Available audio devices for playback: *** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: ALC3227 Analog [ALC3227 Analog] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0. I tried going layer by layer as you suggested with no luck. I am sure it wasnt an issue with audio port because same port works on windows just fine. I tried it on my ubuntu 18.04 live usb and the audio worked fine Here is what I did. it wasnt exactly a fix as much as a bailout. I reinstalled all things audio i.e pulse-audio, alsa/qas mixer, jack2, qt4 and qjacktcl, a2jmidid.. I configured pulseaudio to work with jack manually in qjacktcl and a2jmidid for midi, verified the connections in carla. verified things work fine with jack-only softwares like supercollider etc.. I am up and running again, although I still have no clue what caused the problem. Thanks a lot for your help. I hope that during the process of reinstall I have not broken anything that I am not yet noticing. Thanks again On Thu, 20 Jun 2019 at 12:14, Ralf Mardorf wrote: > On Thu, 20 Jun 2019 08:35:43 +0200, Ralf Mardorf wrote: > >On Thu, 20 Jun 2019 08:06:42 +0200, Ralf Mardorf wrote: > >>PS: > >> > >>On my machine running > >> > >> speaker-test > >> > >>works to test left and right phones channel of the default device (RME > >>HDSPe AIO), if nothing else grabs it. PS: On my machine running speaker-test works to test left and right phones channel of the default device (RME HDSPe AIO), if nothing else grabs it. Unfortunately speaker-test doesn't work for me, if I try to use options such as selecting a device or specifying a channel. -- ubuntu-studio-users mailing list ubuntu-studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users

It still could be, that the socket jack is defect. Consider to run a Linux from a live DVD, to test if audio still is broken. > I have checked in pulse audio control and all channels have volume. For troubleshooting consider to test with plain ALSA first, IOW stop pulseaudio and stop jack, then add one layer after the other. What audio device or devices are available for playback? In xfce4-terminal run aplay -l and post it, too. If you have, at any point in time, added the KXStudio repositories and run Cadence, we have taken the policy that what you have is no longer Ubuntu Studio and is not supported here. We simply cannot be fixing all of the problems that come along with adding these unsupported repositories, and especially the intrusive audio configuration that Cadence does to the user audio configuration. The only remedy is to reinstall Ubuntu Studio, removing your ~/.config and ~/.pulse folders. At that point, we're willing to support your system. [ubuntu-studio-users] Audio Issues
Greetings, First time user of the mailing list so please bear with me. After the June update of ubuntu studio, several things seem to be broken in my system. One thing I notice is that psensor no longer reads fan sensors. But the most important problem is that I get audio only from the right channel of my headphones port no matter which hardware I connect to the port. I have checked in pulse audio control and all channels have volume. I have checked in Carla and cadence patchbays and all things are connected as should be. This is affecting my work. I am requesting assistance. I would be grateful to any assistance I can get. Re: [ubuntu-studio-users] Audio Issues
It might be that now at boot time the ALSA number of the sound devices does change, if so you can make them consistent if you add the driver names by "options snd slots" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, I e.g. use options snd slots=snd_hdspm,snd_ice1712,snd_ice1712 for my sound cards. snd_hdspm = hw:0, snd_ice1712 = hw:1 and hw:3, two equal cards, but they're never confused with each other, perhaps because they've got different IRQs. Even if I would modprobe -r the drivers and then connect e.g. an USB sound device, this device would become hw:4. Take a look at QjackCtl --> Setup... --> Click on the ">" behind "Input Device" Perhaps helpful: $ aplay -l $ ls /proc/asound/ $ sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get install hwinfo $ hwinfo --sound Hth, Ralf -- ubuntu-studio-users mailing list ubuntu-studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
[ubuntu-studio-users] Audio Issues
Hi I recently upgraded Ubuntu Studio from 13.04 to 13.10. Now neither Audacity nor PulseAudio recognise my Fender Mustang Mk1 Amplifier. Audacity appears not to even recognise the Amplifiers Digital (USB 2) interface, and Pulse Audio lists it as 1.1 root hub. Previous versions of Ubuntu Studio, 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04, correctly identified the Amplifier as Mustang in PulseAudio and Audacity. The good news is I am able to record using Audacity, via the Digital interface on the Amplifier. What concerns me is that the device is no longer identified correctly, and a person with less experience of Linux might not get it wotking. regards -- ubuntu-studio-users mailing list ubuntu-studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
