quick question...
I had gone from the Ubuntu Studio 14.xx LTS 64bit to 16.04 32bit

Chrome availability, Videostream). My workaround has been a MInt
64bit partition.

Is there a way to update to 16.04 64 bit without a complete reinstall?

Yes, you should reinstall...

32 bits install should be reserved for very little computers, as virtual
machine (128 to 192 MB RAM for running a simple LAMP web service with
i386 ubuntu server for example).

Also I am interested in hearing what people are using for video
editing. I think I have hit a wall with 4k editing, but more than
often i find myself outside the loop.

I experienced problems with:

 * 720p 50fps video from small Sony camera and GoPro,
 * long recording --> camera splits .mp4 files
 * video and sound are not cut at same time (sony only)
 * editing with Kdenlive --> unable to get sweet move to one mp4 file
   to next one:
o sound not sync with video except first mp4 sequence file (sony only)
o video stops few images at each clip cut

thanks, gabriel

You're welcome!

This is _not_ a typo, it was not discussed on the Ubuntu Studio list, it
was the Ubuntu list.

PS:

There at least are ways to get a list of all packages that are
installed by the 32 bit install and after installing the 64 bit version
it's possible to install all packages from this list. There was a
discussion this or last year on the Ubuntu users mailing list, so the
answers are in the archive. There isn't just a single answer related to
a list of all packages, because a user might follow a
no-install-recommends philosophy and/or wants to ensure that auto and
manual installed packages have the same status after reinstalling them,
so this could require different ways to generate the package list.

I'm not the OP, I only run 64 bit Linux installs. The "64 bit" was a
typo and should read "32 bit". IOW 32 bit support will be dropped by
Ubuntu, x86 as well as ppc. FWIW other distros don't drop x86, but
getting ppc support might be an issue.

 o

Just in case, it should read "32 bit", not "64 bit".
