Joseph Ronne,

Did you check the image, MD5SUM and the DVD after it was burned?
How did you try to install the Flashplugin-installer, seperated or through
the recommende xubuntu-restricted-extras? Because i've had no issues here
on my Ubuntu Studio install and flash is working.

I'd also check the hard drive just to make sure it's still ok and has no
bad blocks.

I installed nvidia-310 (propietary-tested) it fixed my display.
Perhaps if after installing the driver it is not properly configured, run
 these commands:
 sudo nvidia-xconfig
 sudo restart lightdm

 and restart your pc.

Should I try to fix, reinstall, or just wait for the next update?

I upgraded to 13.04 today and spent hours trying to get my display like it was
yesterday.
After searching the forumsetc etc...I tried a reboot and on the login
dialogue screen I chose Xfce desktop instead of Ubuntu Studio..VOILA!! It
worked. ~Leo

I suspect the new install failed to find the correct driver. No idea how to fix
that.
My computer is, if calculated like dog-years, older than I am I think. Gateway
GM5457E ; Got it in 2007. That makes it an antique, no?
