[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 846032] Re: Untranslated strings in Gwibbers main window

2011-09-09 Thread Gabor Kelemen
** Description changed:

The tooltips in Gwibbers toolbar appear untranslated, and the strings in the
Attachments and Searches views. These are simply not marked for translation,
I'll propose a branch for these soon.
- Furthermore, the times of the postings (X minutes/hours/days ago) also appear
untranslated, but those are already present in the .mo files. These are from
gwibber/util.py, and I have no idea why did they stopped working.
+ Furthermore, the times of the postings (X minutes/hours/days ago) also appear
untranslated, those are from libgwibber/util.vala and need to be changed to
properly support plural forms.

This is also an upstream problem reported here:

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 843621] Re: [UIFE] Update to version 0.0.6

2011-09-09 Thread Stéphane Graber
Is there a PPA I can use to test that new version of the greeter?

I'm concerned about the changes to the login box and the logo as it's two
things I spent quite a bit of time tweaking (changing our wallpaper) so that it
looks good for Edubuntu.
I most likely won't have time or even want to change our wallpaper or logo
again this cycle, so I'd like to make sure this change won't regress our UI
(the screenshots look fine for Ubuntu but want to make sure anyway).

Thanks

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 663776] Re: [dash] Search field in Unity can not support iBus

2011-09-09 Thread jincreator
@Arne
I attached a picture showing difference between Unity and Google on Firefox.
Also I don't know about programming using iBus, and actually I never seen any
programs support it perfect(gnome-shell, synapse. gnome-do, goldendict, ...).
But anyway Google on Firefox with "iBus" works well.
And I tested with some more internet search engine.
Is Google(+more) depends on javascript, not iBus?

@Fumihito
For now, Oneiric system is out of my hand because of personal reason.
So, I coudn't test it. Sorry.
But that's the exactly same result with ibus-hangul(iBus Korean Engine) and
thus I guess it will happened to me, too.

@Kevin
That's what I want to say about with ibus-pinyin!
Thank you for describe perfect.

@Ray
I was talking about what Kevin said.
Anyway thank you for giving details about Chinese input.
And about eog...is it same with Bug 745243?

Test 1
---
1. Use ibus-hangul.
2. Open Unity Search.
3. Type "감"(type "rka" if you are using QWERTY with Dubeolsic(ibus-hangul
default setting)).

Result
-> Nothing at search filed.
Actual Result
-> When type "ㄱ"(r), show letter "ㄱ" with highlighted and searching text "ㄱ"
-> After type "ㅏ"(k), show letter "가" with highlighted and searching text "가"
-> Later type "ㅁ"(a), show letter "감" with highlighted and searching text "감"

Test 2
---
1. Starting after Test 1 with no more pressing key/mouse.
2. Type "사"(type "tk").

Result
-> Show only "감", typed at Test 1, and searching text "감".
Actual Result
-> When type "ㅅ"(t), show letter "감ㅅ" with "ㅅ" highlighted and searching text
"감ㅅ"
-> After type "ㅏ"(k), show letter "감사" with "사" highlighted and searching text
"감사"

Test 3
---
1. Starting after Test 1 with no more pressing key/mouse.
2. Click background to hide Unity Search.
2. Re-open Unity.

Result
-> Show "사", typed at Test 2, and searching text "사"
Actual Result
-> Unity Search must be initialized with no text.

Test 4
---
1. Open Google with Firefox and make sure Google Instant Search is on.
2. Type "감ㅅ"(type "rkat").

Result(=Actual Result)
-> When type "ㄱ"(r), show letter "ㄱ" with highlighted and searching text "ㄱ"
-> After type "ㅏ"(k), show letter "가" with highlighted and searching text "가"
-> Later type "ㅁ"(a), show letter "감" with highlighted and searching text "감"
-> Finally type "ㅅ"(t), show letter "감ㅅ" with "ㅅ" highlighted and searching
text "감ㅅ"

Test 5
---
1. Starting after Test 4 with no more pressing key/mouse.
2. Type "ㅏ"(type "k").

Result(=Actual Result)
-> Show letter "감사" with "사" highlighted and searching text "감사"

Conclusion
---
Wether iBus has lack of return latest typing letter, there are 2 problem in
Unity.
First, it must show what JK users are typing(although it's impossible to search
with typing letter).
Second, it must flush every letters after Unity Search closed.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 799725] Re: Wording of authentication dialog is unclear - "System policy prevents installation/removal of device drivers" but it doesn't prevent it

2011-09-09 Thread David Planella
While I agree with the change, I'm not also not sure if we should break
the string freeze here.

Also, by changing the string, wouldn't we breaking consistency with the
wording other applications use for such dialogs? I think I've seen
"System policy [...]" in many other applications than just jockey

What happens: An authentication alert appears saying "System policy

What should happen: The alert for letting you do something shouldn't
claim that system policy prevents it from being done at all.

Following the example of Ubuntu Software Center, the text could read
"To install or remove device drivers, you need to authenticate.".

So, from the translator it is OK.

Also doc team +1'ed it always in the mailing list.

How else do you log in as a different user then? Please keep this for

Pending ack from translators, but I'd welcome the fix as "session" makes

Yes, but as another string in the same file, you cannot find it in the
translation template.
Even the string that starts with:

Looking for a fresh start...

is marked, but it doesn't show up.
The only string that I can find in the template is this one:

Too smart for us? Get your hands dirty with some advanced partitioning
options.

Ciao.

Status in Ubuntu Translations:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-panel

the Indicator Clock on my panel always shows the date in the following
format: Day Month Date, Time (i.e., Mon Apr 4, 16:41). I have
instituted the Great Britain locale (despite the fact that I live in
the United States) via adding the following line to my
  /etc/default/locale: LC_TIME="en_GB.UTF-8" in order to force a
system-wide setting of 24-hour time and a date format of Day Date
Month Time (i.e., Mon 4 Apr 16:41). Following this change to en_GB,
the time changes to 24 hour, but the date format displayed in my panel
remains set as Day Month Date, Time (i.e., Mon Apr 4, 16:41) instead
of switching to Day Date Month Time (i.e., Mon 4 Apr 16:41).

Users should be able to specify the date format and time format of
their choice for system-wide display. Even though I live in the United
States, I should be able to have 24-hour time and a date format of Mon
  4 Apr 16:41 displayed system-wide.

Bug description:

Some recent changes changed or introduced new "Shut Down…" and "Log
  Out…" strings to indicator-session.

Now there are some of these strings using the ellipsis character (…)
and some using the full stops (...), which are effectively different
strings ("Log Out…" vs. "Log Out...").

I know it's a minor detail, but could perhaps these be used
consistently in the translatable strings, so that the strings can be
unified and this results in less work for translators?

  Thanks!
